Chapter 106 - Chapter 106 It’s Still Too Cruel

Shawn quickly bent down, trying to dig with his hands.

"Don't accidentally break the treasure."

Shawn's tone was full of curiosity and impatience.

After taking down the Prison, what good things would the system reward this time?

This mission was much more troublesome than the previous ones; Shawn was almost trapped and killed inside the Prison, so the reward couldn't be too bad, right?

After digging away the surface soil, there was a tangle of tree roots underneath.

But the moment he pushed aside the roots!

A figure, like lightning, shot towards Shawn's eyes!

No sooner said than done!

Shawn instinctively pulled back his upper body, his right hand instinctively reaching out in front of him.

His right hand pulled his body, his head strained backward, and finally, at the last possible distance, he managed to control it.

Only then did Shawn have time to take a closer look.

He felt a chill in his palm; neatly arranged scales ran along its slender body all the way to its head, where two cold, black-gem-like eyes were embedded.

A snake--!

A venomous snake--!

After realizing, Shawn quickly turned its head away.

He couldn't help but feel a little lucky.

"Luckily, it didn't spray venom directly just now, or my eyes would be in trouble, especially out here in the wilderness."

Shawn felt lingering fear, his mood shifting from cloudy to stormy, from shock to fury.

He held the shovel in his left hand and, with a 'thwack', chopped off its head.

He smashed it twice with a stone, utterly pulverizing it.

"Experience Points +20"

As for the snake's body, Shawn tossed it into his backpack; at least it was a kind of wild game.

It wouldn't be bad to use it to change his diet later.

After doing all that, Shawn looked back at the dark hole among the roots, prodding a few times with the shovel.

"There shouldn't be anything else now, right?"

The shovel touched something thick and soft, and Shawn's eyebrows shot up, a look of delight spreading across his face.

He hooked it and pulled out a black suitcase about half a meter long.

At the same time, 'hissing' growls suddenly came from all directions around Shawn's head.

Shawn's heart stirred, and he immediately put the suitcase into his system backpack.

Then, taking his shovel, he returned to the surface with a few light pushes.

Looking around, he saw that a horde of over 20 Walkers had appeared nearby at some point.

They came from all directions, completely surrounding Shawn.

But seeing this formation, Shawn, instead, let out a chuckle.

"Do you know the value of an Lv37? Are 20-odd Walkers supposed to be a side dish for me?"

Shawn put down the iron shovel in his hand and switched to his Stone Hammer.

Instead of retreating, he advanced, meeting them with a single swing, and within the attack range, the heads of two Walkers exploded.

To be honest.

After clearing the high-difficulty Prison, Shawn suddenly felt that these ordinary Walkers were easy to bully.

A number of over 20 was no longer something he took seriously.

What was a desperate situation for others, requiring evasion and escape, was merely a 10-minute affair in front of Shawn.

As the last Walker fell, system information appeared before Shawn's eyes at the opportune moment.

"Level Up, Lv37 → Lv38"

"Remaining Skill Points: 9"

"You can allocate points now."

"I must definitely be considered a top combatant among Walkers, right?"

Shawn looked at his masterpiece, nodding with satisfaction, feeling that his future was promising.

After dealing with the trouble, Shawn was not in a hurry to open the suitcase there; instead, he carried his great hammer and ran towards the fire truck.

He felt safer opening treasure chests in the car.

It wasn't until Shawn neared the forest road that he stopped, suddenly bending down.

Through the gaps in the tall grass, his eyes looked far towards the fire truck.

In Shawn's vision, two figures carrying large travel bags stood outside the fire truck, moving around.

One person knocked hard on the fire truck window, then tried to pull the car door, but it didn't budge.

The other person directly climbed onto the top partition of the water tank opening, looked inside, and excitedly called out to his teammate.

"Tarot, there's food here!"

The teammate called 'Tarot' heard it, and Shawn, who was in the nearby forest, also heard it…

Shawn narrowed his eyes.

Watching their actions, his eyes held a chilling intent.

In the distance, Tarot jumped twice but failed to get up.

"Hey, pull me up, I can almost reach."

Tarot called out, a little anxious.

The next second, he heard a cold laugh by his ear.

"Alright, I'll give you a pull."

"Thanks," Tarot instinctively replied.

But before he could react, he felt his calf caught by a pair of warm, large hands.

Tarot initially thought it was a Walker and frantically shook a couple of times.

But the hands gripping his calf were like steel and iron, showing no sign of letting go.

The person standing on the water truck heard the sound and quickly leaned over to look, only to see a tall man, dressed in a soldier's combat uniform, grinning at him.

"Why be so impolite?"

Shawn spoke with a slight hint of regret.

In the apocalypse, finding a brand new fire truck with lots of food inside by the roadside already spoke volumes.

If they had just taken some food and left, Shawn had more important things to do and wouldn't have bothered to chase them.

But they were greedy and wanted to drive the car away, wanting food yet dawdling, waiting for Shawn to arrive.

How could Shawn let them go?

"Listen, we don't need to do this, you're only one person, actually, we have a better solution."

Tarot belatedly realized that behind him was a person, not a Walker.

He turned his head and shouted, his words seemingly lacking the initial fear and panic.

Shawn was only one person; they were two.

The implication was that Shawn was at a disadvantage, so he shouldn't be impulsive.

Did he think Shawn was easier to deal with than a Walker?

This time, Shawn even put down his great hammer, the smile on his face fading.

He stared intently at Tarot, his hands beginning to exert slight pressure.

"You... Ah!!" Tarot screamed, his cry attracting the wandering Walkers nearby.

And in Shawn's hands, both of Tarot's calves snapped cleanly.

Sharp bone splinters poked out from beneath his wide pant legs, fresh blood flowed onto the ground, and the low growls of the surrounding Walkers became increasingly distinct.

"Here comes the little flying stick!"

Shawn winked at the person on the water tank, then directly dragged Tarot to the ground.

Shawn maintained his grip on the calves, playing human 'windmill' with Tarot's body, like throwing a shot put.

The other person seemed to realize something, his face growing even more panicked, and he turned to leave.

But just as he turned, he felt a powerful force strike from behind.

Accompanied by two screams, Tarot, holding the man's body, fell directly from the fire truck and rolled to the roadside.

Seeing the Walkers closing in, Shawn uncharacteristically didn't smash their heads with his hammer; instead, he jumped onto the fire truck and drove a dozen meters away.

Through the rearview mirror, Shawn watched them being torn apart by the surrounding Walkers, their skin ripped, their facial features and flesh bitten off.

Listening to the screams coming from his ears, Shawn sighed.

"It really is too cruel."

As his voice fell, Shawn reversed the car.

Jumping out of the car, Shawn kicked away the Walkers who were enjoying their meal and pulled out the large travel bags the two had been carrying.

Then, he drove the fire truck away without looking back.

In the car.

Shawn patted the two travel bags on the passenger seat, unable to help but laugh aloud.

"Now it's not cruel; how can we waste resources?"

"Even mosquito meat, no matter how small, is still meat."
