Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: The Plunderer Who Wasn't Willing to Fight

"If it's just a layer of steel plate and rebar, this should be enough."

"Today, I'll go check on the cement, hmm…"

Shawn opened the system, browsed through it, then went to the repair shop in front, opened the forge, and looked at the cement recipe.

"So in seven days to die, you can use stones and a miniature mixer."

Shawn stroked his chin, then flipped to the 'Concrete Block' section.

"Crushed stone, small pebbles, and finally cement powder."

"This is a bit troublesome. I can make a forge, but the recipe for the miniature mixer hasn't been unlocked yet. What should I do?"

With a furrowed brow, Shawn suddenly felt a bit lost.

But very quickly, he pushed this problem to the back of his mind.

"Forget it, let's deal with the raw materials first. As for the rest, we'll take it one step at a time."

"If worst comes to worst, I'll just have them mix it by hand. In any case, the high wall must be repaired. Without it, there's no sense of security."

Immediately, Shawn made up his mind.

The forge's fire never ceased, constantly maintaining a forging state.

However, what was being forged in the forge today was 'Forged Steel'.

The materials required for 'Forged Steel' were exactly the same as for 'Forged Iron', only the quantity of materials needed was doubled.

The forging time was also roughly one minute per piece.

"Not bad. When I come back after being busy, I'll have a good amount forged."

Shawn looked at the blazing flames in the forge and patted his hands in satisfaction.

Getting into the car, Shawn drove towards the west side of the town.

After opening the town's map yesterday, Shawn had a general impression of the entire town's layout.

"The west side should be the industrial zone designated by the town, which is the downwind area of the entire region."

"Materials like sand and gravel should be found in abundance here…"

Shawn drove to the western area of the town.

But this time, the deeper Shawn went, the more he felt something was off.

Last time, he had only taken a rough glance from afar.

But now, going deep by himself, Shawn looked at the cars parked in twos and threes along both sides of the street, and for some reason, an inexplicable sense of emptiness welled up in his heart.

A premonition almost entirely opposite to a sense of security, like the feeling of potentially missing a step on the stairs at any moment, made Shawn's hair stand on end, keeping him in a state of heightened alert.

Brake--

The red overlord let out a hiss of pressure release and came to a complete stop.

Shawn's gaze swept forward.

He saw that the front was still quiet and peaceful, with nothing there.

"It's not that I'm too sensitive, something is indeed not quite right." Shawn's eyes showed a hint of vigilance.

"No, I can't go any further."

Precisely because it was too quiet, Shawn felt even more that something was amiss.

Normally, when Shawn drove around, Walkers would appear from both sides of the street at least every now and then.

But here, it was so clean that not a single Walker could be seen, which was truly abnormal.

Putting it in reverse, Shawn was about to back up.

But then, in an instant!

About 5 meters in front of the red overlord's tires, a row of spikes suddenly rose up, kicking up dust!

A faint 'whoosh' sound came from far to near. The moment Shawn heard this sound, the passenger side window of the fire truck instantly shattered!

Shawn immediately ducked down, his gaze quickly sweeping around.

He saw that behind the previously quiet, seemingly empty two or three car bodies, several figures instantly appeared.

Looking through the fire truck's rearview mirror and the 'Road View Monitor', Shawn's expression was not good.

"I'm surrounded…" Shawn bit his lip, squeezing out a sentence.

On the 'Road View Monitor' main console, in the four separate screen angles, there were figures slowly approaching.

Were they town residents?

Were they survivors who subsequently occupied this place?

This question appeared for a moment but was dismissed by Shawn; now was not the time to think about such things.

These survivors held Guns tightly in their hands, and Shawn could perceive their malice instantly, even through the screen.

"I can't just sit here and wait to die!"

Seeing that more than a dozen people had surrounded the fire truck, Shawn moved silently.

Click--

The man with a dark gray face mask wrapped around his head gently opened the driver's side door, his finger still tightly on the trigger.

"Hmm? No one."

The masked man was stunned after opening the car door.

In his line of sight, he only saw the opened 'Road View Monitor' and the driver's seat still vibrating with a 'tatata' sound.

"Kenny, I don't have…"

The masked man turned his head, seemingly reporting information through some form of communication.

But just as he turned around, a flash of red arrived in an instant!

Shawn moved from the main driver's rear window to the rear 6-seater, seized the opportunity, and kicked out!

He kicked the car door, which instantly knocked down the masked man. Shawn, clutching the Stone Hammer tightly in his hand, swung it back at another person behind him without even looking.

But only halfway through the swing, Shawn suddenly changed from hammer to block!

Clang--!

A bullet struck the Stone Hammer, embedding itself deeply.

A tiny crack began to appear on the surface of the Stone Hammer. Shawn frowned and immediately turned around without hesitation.

Like a nimble wolf, he instantly rushed out.

Bang, bang--!

He could hear gunshots behind him, bullets grazing his shoulder, but he didn't look back.

Shawn leaped forward abruptly, rolling across the ground to get behind a car on the side of the street.

With his back pressed against the car door, Shawn took a breath, pulled out his remington from behind him, and glanced sideways at the opposite side.

He saw that as soon as Shawn left the car, these people immediately took over Shawn's red overlord.

The spikes on the ground suddenly flattened, and the fire truck was driven away with a 'gong-gong-gong' sound.

"Damn it, are you bullying me because I'm alone?!"

Seeing this scene, Shawn couldn't help but want to curse.

He had been active in the town for two days, and he never expected to be treated like a soft persimmon on the last day of his plan!

Moreover, the opponent's entire operation was smooth, without any sloppiness or reluctance to fight, indicating that this was not their first time, and they were extremely skilled.

But before Shawn could make a move, a volley of bullets came towards him again.

Shawn quickly ducked behind cover, and when he peeked out again, he only saw several small cars following the fire truck, kicking up a cloud of dust as they sped away.

Their figures gradually became blurry, but a line of text in front of Shawn became increasingly clear.

[Apocalypse Mission: Find the marauders, retrieve your vehicle]

[Note: Rewards will be settled based on completion rate]

Ignoring the second line of text, Shawn looked at the yellow exclamation mark that suddenly popped up in front of him and revealed a sinister smile.

"You little rascal, you didn't expect your dad to have GPS auto-navigation, did you?"

His car was taken, but Shawn wasn't angry… not at all. As long as he could find out who took it, then it would be fine.

After repairing the Stone Hammer.

Shawn punched and shattered the window of a bullet-ridden car beside him, took some gasoline from his backpack to refuel, and followed the direction indicated by the exclamation mark, chasing after them.

Approximately 40 minutes passed.

Shawn finally stopped in a mountain forest.

The Prison was to the south, while here was a continuous path west from the town.

Along the way, Shawn saw many large vehicles: some sand trucks, mixer trucks, and long trailers… These vehicles were casually parked on the roadside.

Judging by the thick layer of dust covering them, these vehicles had not been started for a long time.

"Is this a Mine?" Shawn frowned.

Before entering the mountain forest, he stopped the car and began walking.

Fortunately, with the map, after circling around the mountain forest for 20 minutes, Shawn finally found an open area in the center of the woods.

Looking into the distance, there was a cultivated Mine there.
