Chapter 117 - Chapter 117 Infiltrating Woodbury

It wasn't until this wave of stat allocation ended that Shawn finally let out a long sigh of relief, feeling much more secure.

It was already noon when the group arrived at the small town.

After searching the town for some food and basic supplies that might be useful, the group continued north.

When they got back into the car, Daryl had several more bottles in his hand.

He bit a strip of cloth and poured about 300ml of fuel and high-proof alcohol into them.

He cut the collected soap into small pieces with a knife, adding them all to the bottles to increase viscosity.

Then he carefully pushed the cloth strip into the bottle opening.

One end was soaked inside, while the other end was exposed and kept dry; when lit by a flame, it would become a throwing weapon with considerable destructive power.

Daryl then made three more in the same way, wrapping these bottles in a rough cloth bag.

"What?" Daryl noticed Shawn's gaze.

"Nothing, it's great, incredibly great."

Seeing Daryl start preparing Molotov cocktails, Shawn felt an itch in his heart, already a little impatient.

It took only about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach the destination from the small town.

The road to Woodbury was less winding, saving a lot of time.

The fire truck slowly stopped, parking in a hidden patch of shaded woods.

Daryl was a master of counter-tracking; with a little concealment, it was almost impossible to be instantly noticed.

Glenn stepped forward, casually cleaving the skull of a nearby Walker.

But before he could turn to deal with the other three, Merle stepped forward, followed by Carol, and the two swiftly dealt with the three Walkers.

They didn't touch their guns throughout the entire process.

Compared to the beginning of the apocalypse and their time at the Quarry Camp, they were now vastly different.

Shawn only heard the sounds of '+75 +75 +75' in his ears, and his experience bar increased by another small segment.

The group crouched low, cautiously moving forward.

Using the jungle to conceal their figures, they advanced 2 kilometers, pushing aside leaves to look.

Before their eyes, a building completely enclosed by a wall suddenly appeared.

Inside seemed to be a Community, and the outer walls were tightly nailed with iron sheets, looking impregnable.

With just a glance, one could easily see several figures holding rifles swaying leisurely above the right side of the main gate.

"A bit troublesome."

Glenn slicked all his long hair back, his eyes fixed on Woodbury in the distance, his tone sounding serious.

"I originally thought it was just a clustered Camp, but I didn't expect it to be even more fortified than the Prison's external defenses."

"If we try to force our way in, we'll be shot full of holes."

"Wait until night."

Shawn's expression remained unchanged as he quietly spoke.

"A dark and windy night is a good night for killing."

"Daytime is out of the question; only at night do we have a chance, which is why I only brought a few of you."

"This time, we'll be quick in and quick out, finishing the job before they react."

"A Community Camp that needs to be blocked by high walls won't have everyone as a fighter."

"Glenn, you're observant; please observe their patrol and shift change frequency, and we'll act at night."

"Okay." Glenn nodded in agreement, making a small circle from the side jungle and lying down on a small mound.

From there, he could basically see the specific situations of Woodbury from two angles.

Watching Glenn leave, Shawn turned his head to look at Carol.

At this moment, she was dressed in tight, convenient clothing, with a soft yet tough stab-proof vest over her chest, and instead of combat boots, she wore soft-soled athletic shoes.

According to Carol, it made it very convenient to move around, better than combat boots.

"Carol, we might need you to act with us tonight; do you have any issues?"

Following Shawn's gaze, Carol just shook her head, her face still gentle, but showing no trace of fear.

Although it was her first time participating in such a thing, to Carol, it was as if she had been tempered a thousand times, her will firm and unwavering.

'Perhaps I underestimated Carol; even at this stage, she is still stronger than I imagined,' Shawn thought to himself, taking in Carol's actions.

Time passed minute by minute; because the clouds obscured the daylight, it got dark very early.

By around 7:40 PM, there was even a faint 'rumble' in the sky, the sound muffled as if covered by a drum.

Within 20 minutes, rain 'poured' continuously from the sky, gently tapping on Shawn's shoulder.

It was past 8 PM, and the entire sky had completely darkened within 20 minutes, as if it had just been pulled out of an inkwell.

A refreshing breeze, carrying moisture, swept over their heads.

Shawn looked at Woodbury, giving a signal to the others while trying to keep his voice low.

"Go!"

The light to moderate rain covered their scent and subtle movements, with Glenn leading the way at the front of the team.

It wasn't until they reached a high wall that Glenn gave Shawn a look.

Shawn nodded, leaning against the high wall and switching places with Glenn.

Following the direction of Glenn's finger, he inserted his hands into the gap of the baffle.

Click--

The moment he heard this sound, Shawn froze his movements as if time had stopped.

Even Daryl and the others couldn't help but feel their hearts jump into their throats.

But luckily, it was the time for the night shift change, and there was no one on guard above them, so naturally, no one would hear this accidental soft sound.

After a pause of about 5 seconds, Shawn only dared to continue his movements after completely confirming there was no one.

He suddenly used his immense strength to remove the entire baffle; this was a weak point in the Community, revealing a path just wide enough for one person to pass through while bending over.

Daryl and the others went in with their weapons, and Shawn, facing backward, returned the baffle to its place.

At a glance, it was impossible to tell that anyone had passed through here.

After entering through the high wall, they found themselves in a two-story house.

Using the house and the darkness to conceal his body, Shawn cautiously poked his head out.

The faint firelight inside the Community illuminated Shawn's profile, and Shawn suddenly pulled his head back sharply.

The next moment, a patrol team of three passed in front of them.

However, due to the cover of darkness, they did not notice Shawn's presence at all.

"There are too many houses here; should we split up to Search?"

Merle lowered his voice and whispered to Shawn, discussing.

"No need." Shawn retreated to the back of the house, whispering closely to them.

"They took the person away; they might not directly arrange them in a crowded area. It's either a secluded house or in the basement."

"We don't need to Search all the houses; we just need to observe the houses that armed people frequently enter and exit."

As he spoke, Shawn looked at Daryl.

"It's up to you next."

Daryl nodded, half-crouching and moving to the front of the team, holding his crossbow pointed diagonally upwards, so that as soon as he saw someone, he could silently end the fight.

The group explored forward along the small path behind the houses.

But they didn't know that at this moment, in the deepest part of the Community, in the center of a spacious circular platform, most of the Community's people were gathered.

Michonne was here.

Even the Governor... was here.
