Chapter 130 - Chapter 130 Back to the town, I met

The sun was just rising.

Shawn once again led a few people back to the small town.

The high walls of the Prison had been completely filled with concrete, and in just a day and a half, the surface had already dried.

Shawn was even starting to like summer because of this.

The 4x4m pit outside the high wall was still being dug, and by the time Shawn left the Prison, it was basically 3/7 complete.

This time, Shawn returned to the small town for the Prison's main gate.

With the high walls built, the barbed wire gate seemed a bit shabby.

The entire Prison's main gate had become its weakest point, and Shawn could not tolerate this.

So, it was perfect to work on both simultaneously, catching up on the gate and the deep pit at the same time.

As a bonus, this trip would also allow him to bring back some stones and sand, preparing for the construction of the latter half of the high wall.

"Large vehicles like trucks and passenger buses need to be able to enter, so the gate cannot be small."

"In the future, when the deep pit at the entrance is also dug out, a drawbridge of sufficient thickness and width will be needed."

"Besides that, metal chains will be needed to hold the drawbridge; their hardness cannot be low, at least they must be forged steel, right?"

"Hiss—and with the steel plates to be embedded in the high wall, the resources in my backpack are still not enough."

Shawn looked at the two large vehicles following behind him through the red overlord's rearview mirror, calculated in his mind, and then turned on the radio.

"This is Shawn, respond if you receive."

"...Received." *3

T-zai was in one vehicle, and Oscar and Jimmy were in another.

"The three vehicles are divided into three groups, acting separately. If anything is found, contact via radio."

The radio had a coverage range of 3 to 5 kilometers, so basically, as long as they didn't leave the small town, they could receive a signal.

After the three responded, Shawn did not go to the industrial area but turned around and went to the residential area.

In the garage of almost every residential house there, 1 to 2 vehicles could be found. The last time Shawn came to the small town, he dismantled vehicles here.

After about an hour and a half of dismantling, Shawn leveled up through his dismantling experience.

His backpack now contained 2000 units of iron and a large pile of car parts.

He found a private courtyard, eliminated the Walkers inside, and then took the forging furnace out of his backpack.

The last time he forged nearly 600 pieces of forged steel, he wasn't sure if it was enough, so Shawn still threw all the iron in first, started forging, and then began making the large gate.

The shape of the gate was very simple, just square, as long as it could block Walkers and survivors.

Shawn melted the forged steel into a rectangular slab, following the dimensions of 6x8m and a thickness of 20cm.

The exact size didn't need to be so precise. The gate was a horizontal sliding type, so being a bit longer didn't matter, as long as it wasn't too short.

If possible, he could later have Jacob and Oscar work together to make an upper and lower slide rail to embed the gate directly.

At a height equal to a person's height on the gate, Shawn left a chain hole for locking.

He would continue to upgrade it when there was enough energy later.

After finishing, Shawn roughly checked the consumption of forged steel in his backpack, which was about 400 pieces.

"It's still within an acceptable range."

"Later, I'll have Oscar and the others weld some wheels onto the bottom, and it can be used."

"At the Mine, I remember there's a large flatbed truck; the extended platform at the back should be able to hold it."

"As for where this slab came from... I don't know. If asked, I don't know; it was all picked up from the ground."

The gate was purely handmade. Although its appearance wasn't great, its practicality was its strong point.

Shawn clapped his hands, turned back to the vehicle, and used the radio to notify the others.

"Received, we're nearby."

Jimmy and Oscar quickly responded.

But Shawn waited in the vehicle for three minutes, and there was still no movement from T-zai.

"T-zai, T-zai?"

Shawn pressed the radio twice more.

About another minute passed before T-zai's broken voice came from the other end of the radio.

...Static... I... am... static...

...I have... someone here...

...Shit... static, static, static...

T-zai's reply was almost inaudible.

Shawn then asked Oscar and the others, and they heard the same situation.

"Something's not right. We're heading towards the industrial area now."

Shawn began to inform Oscar and the other.

Radio interference usually only occurs in two situations.

First, encountering special environments and weather can affect the signal.

Second, T-zai is no longer within the radio's signal range, so the signal naturally becomes worse.

Today's weather was cloudless and sunny.

So if possible, it could only be the second scenario—T-zai had encountered trouble at the edge of the small town, which was why the radio signal was intermittent.

Thinking of this, Shawn immediately notified Oscar and Jimmy via radio without hesitation.

"No need to make a special detour. From your current location, move towards the edge of the small town. We'll meet at the western edge of the small town."

After receiving their responses, Shawn left the large gate where it was, started the fire truck, and prepared to leave, but the next second, he jumped out of the vehicle again.

When he left, the courtyard where the massive metal gate had been placed was now empty.

...

"Shit!"

"Are you all mad dogs? Constantly chasing and biting me!"

"I don't have any bones here."

T-zai cursed, and countless faint 'whooshing' sounds constantly passed by his ears, as if in response to him.

A bullet was embedded in the truck's window, and the glass window spread out in a spiderweb crack pattern.

T-zai stomped on the accelerator, and the large truck, like an out-of-control beast, crashed wildly through the streets at the edge of the small town.

If one looked closely, they would surely find that one of the truck's rear wheels had been blown out by a stray bullet.

The tough tire casing wrapped around the wheel hub, and the exposed part was almost spinning out sparks.

Although the truck still had a lot of fuel, it faintly felt uncontrollable, as if it was about to overturn.

And far behind T-zai, three modified off-road vehicles and pickup trucks were in pursuit, and behind those three vehicles were several more vehicle shadows.

"Force him to stop! That's our goal for this trip!"

The Governor poked his head out of the window, his rifle continuously firing, shouting to his people.

Clearly, he was treating T-zai as someone from the Mine Camp.

He squinted one eye, looking like a cyclops.

Through the rifle's iron sights, he focused all his attention on the other intact wheel at the rear of the truck, which was constantly swaying.

Bang--

A flash of fire briefly spat from the muzzle.

Then, in an instant, that rear wheel deflated with a hiss, and the entire rear half of the truck pressed down, dragging hard on the ground, producing a huge noise and commotion.

Feeling the irresistible twisting force coming from his hands, T-zai gritted his teeth and mustered all his strength to yank the steering wheel in the opposite direction!

T-zai
