Chapter 154 - Chapter 154 Lily's surprise!

He arrived just in time, taking down the Walker that was about to get up from a distance.

"Is everyone alright?"

"Shawn?"

Shawn didn't even turn his head, concentrating his strength to deliver a powerful blow to the black bear, maximizing its bleeding wounds.

"Instead of asking me, you should be asking this black bear."

The bleeding wounds accelerated the black bear's blood loss; every time it exerted force for a large movement, the bleeding rate would surge.

The gash made by the great saber was gaping, and one could even clearly see the inner hide and tender bear meat.

When Shawn retreated from in front of the black bear, it wobbled and struggled in place several times but couldn't get up.

Daryl jumped down from the tree, his re-strung crossbow aimed at the black bear, but he chose not to pull the trigger.

From a hunting perspective, although he was the first to spot the black bear, it was currently Shawn's prey, and the hunt had entered its final stage; there was no need for assistance, this was Shawn's trophy.

It was at this moment that Shane, Merle, and Michonne quickly arrived.

Rick and Shane

Seeing that there was no more movement here, they cautiously approached, looking in astonishment at the defeated black bear, bleeding all over.

"You guys did this?" Michonne raised an eyebrow, looking at the three with some surprise.

"No, to be precise, Shawn did it by himself."

Daryl never claimed credit, stating the truth.

"I'll finish it."

Shane stepped forward with his shotgun.

He didn't care about prey or not; anything threatening, be it people, Walkers, or beasts, had to die.

But as he took a step, he was stopped by Shawn, who had the saber in his reversed grip.

Under everyone's gaze, Shawn gently raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

As if in response to Shawn's snap, the black bear suddenly slumped, falling sideways to the ground and never getting up again.

"Done!"

Shawn went up and touched the black bear's fur, then clapped his hands and stood up, satisfied.

"Help me skin it. A complete pelt can be made into a blanket or clothes, to be used in winter."

"Good heavens, you did all this by yourself? Are you even human?"

Merle walked to the side of the black bear's corpse, looking at the knife wounds on its body, and couldn't help but exclaim.

He had seen many beasts shot through the body, but this was the first time he had seen one cut up like this by a person with a knife.

Also, it was almost in pieces; how could it possibly be a complete pelt??

"Hmm?"

Shawn glanced at him sideways, and Merle's body tensed; he couldn't help but let out a few dry laughs and added,

"I mean, you're really amazing. If Daryl had done it, he would've been torn to shreds."

"Don't use me as an example, old man."

Daryl gave Merle a cold look, sizing him up, and spoke discontentedly.

"Alright, let's go back and find people to help. This bear must weigh at least 500 catties."

Rick came to Shane's side, looking down at the black bear's corpse, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes.

If eaten sparingly and combined with coarse grains, this meat would be enough to meet the Camp's food needs for over half a month.

With several dozen people in the Camp now, lasting over half a month was a lot.

"No need."

Shawn casually tossed the saber into Merle's arms, then stepped forward, took a breath, and hoisted the bear's corpse onto his shoulder.

The bear's corpse, weighing a full 500 catties, rested on Shawn's shoulder, yet he didn't sway, his steps steady, and he carried the bear's corpse all the way back to the Prison.

At this time, Lori was guarding the entrance with Carl, and there were also some people who had gathered after hearing the news.

They watched from afar as Shawn walked towards them, carrying a bear's corpse wider and thicker than himself, and couldn't help but open their mouths slightly, somewhat astonished.

The quickest to react in the crowd was Carl.

Seeing Shawn return with the black bear, completely unharmed, he couldn't help but cheer, revealing a childlike innocence unlike his usual forced calmness.

"Such a big one?!"

"Shawn, I knew you could do it!"

Carl had never doubted Shawn; if one had to find a loyal fan for Shawn in the Camp, Carl's admiration for Shawn was even greater than Beth's.

Previously, Rick was Carl's world, but now, in Carl's eyes, the omnipotent hero should be Shawn.

"It's nothing much."

Shawn smiled humbly, pleased that he had taken down such a large prey on his first hunt.

He personally carried the bear's corpse back, largely to show off.

It was like a fisherman who catches a big fish and then carries the fish's corpse from morning till night.

The most satisfying part wasn't catching it himself; it was the way others looked at him.

All eyes gathered on Shawn as usual, but this feeling now was different from the usual feeling of being watched.

As Carl and others cheered, more and more people gathered inside the Prison.

In the crowd, Shawn even saw Lily and others who had just been released from the Prison that morning.

She and her people huddled together, like a sparrow mother protecting her chicks, shielding her people behind her, then watched in surprise as Shawn, carrying the black bear, walked past her.

Shawn glanced at her, and she instinctively averted her gaze.

Chuckling inwardly, Shawn didn't speak to her, but instead directly carried the bear's corpse and placed it on the concrete open space in front of the Administrative Building's main entrance.

Seeing that most people had gathered, and even Carol had come out of the kitchen, Shawn finally spoke.

"Caught a big one. We'll have extra food tonight; everyone gets a share."

Shawn didn't take the opportunity to ramble on; practical benefits were more important than anything else.

Hearing Shawn's words, smiles appeared on everyone's faces.

It didn't matter if it was bear meat or other animal meat; the key was that it was meat, fresh meat.

Beth stood beside Hershel, whispering to her father while holding his arm.

"My boyfriend."

Although it was just a simple sentence, the playfulness, pride, and joy in her tone could not be concealed, and it even carried a hint of showing off.

Hearing his daughter's words, Hershel remained calm, but chuckled inwardly.

18 years old?

Already grown up?

Poor Beth didn't know that Hershel had actually wanted to entrust her to Shawn long ago.

Just those few days spent at the Farm, Hershel could already see Shawn's extraordinary qualities.

If he needed to find a place for Beth, letting her follow Shawn would certainly not be a bad choice.

The key was that besides his strength and influence, Shawn's own physical attributes were also excellent.

His tall height of 1.9 meters and well-proportioned physique left a deep impression on Hershel's family at their first meeting.

With black eyes and black hair, Shawn had an indescribable charm about him.

Especially when Shawn's hair grew longer, he would casually sweep it back, his hairstyle just a casual brush, yet it added a touch of unrestrained elegance.

And when such a man was given the title of 'Warden' by his enemies, his personal charisma seemed to elevate another notch.

He was ruthless enough, but surprisingly kind to his own people; Hershel felt very relieved entrusting Beth to him.

This was also why Hershel had appeared by their side multiple times, trying hard to bring them together and make them a couple.

Maggie was given to Glenn, and Beth was given to Shawn.

Hershel looked at the two with great satisfaction, even more appreciative than the two sisters themselves.

"I'm old, but my eyesight is getting sharper."

Hershel shook his head, sighing in a voice only he could hear, a hint of nostalgia flashing in his eyes.

"Annette, you don't have to worry anymore, do you?"
