"Ahhh, finally found it."
Lu's sharp eyes were the first to spot the sign for the cockpit.
He was extremely curious about the airship in the Hunter world. He wondered whether it looked the same as the cockpit of airplanes in the real world.
"We're here," Killua said happily. They had finally found it.
"Look, isn't it awesome?" Killua moved quickly and pushed open the cockpit door without hesitation.
"But there's a 'No Entry' sign," Gon said, worried they might get kicked out.
"That's what makes it an adventure," Killua replied fearlessly. "It's just a sign."
"We'll just take a quick look. If we're not allowed, we'll leave right away," Ruo suggested.
Gon thought about it and felt that made sense. Besides, he really wanted to see it too, so he nodded.
The inside was much larger than an airplane cockpit—at least the size of a twenty-square-meter room. It was filled with all kinds of instruments, all glowing and flashing to show they were operating.
There were only two pilot seats, so it probably only required two people to operate. At the moment, however, there was only one person inside—similar to how airplanes sometimes operate.
"The wind is steady and visibility is good. On nights like this, the hardest thing is fighting off sleep. If anyone's free, go make some strong tea."
The helmsman heard the door open and assumed it was his colleague who had just stepped out, so he casually called out for tea.
Lu was carefully studying the instruments and didn't notice that Killua had already exposed them.
"If you want tea, go make it yourself. Don't order people around," Killua said lazily, hands behind his head, looking completely relaxed.
The helmsman noticed the voice didn't sound right. When he turned around, he saw three kids.
"But if you let us try piloting it, we'll make tea for you. Right?" Killua grinned at Lu and Gon.
Lu thought it was a great idea too—though obviously impossible. Gon also looked very interested.
Every man probably has a dream of flying a plane, just like every woman has a dream of being a princess.
Just then, another tall, burly man walked out from a side room. Killua showed no fear at all and continued enthusiastically making his proposal.
The two men, however, were not amused in the slightest. How had these brats gotten in here?
"You three brats, get out! Is this a place you can just walk into?" the helmsman barked fiercely.
"Get out now, or I won't be polite," the other man, with red eyebrows and green eyes, added harshly.
Seeing that the two men were about to grab them and toss them out like chickens—just like in the original storyline—Lu felt that would be too embarrassing. Better to leave on their own.
"Alright, we've seen enough. Let's go," Lu said clearly, signaling Killua and Gon to leave.
Since they couldn't achieve their goal, Killua shrugged and followed.
Gon had felt awkward about entering in the first place, and now that they had been scolded, he felt even more dejected. He hurried out.
Bang!
With a loud noise, the door slammed shut right in front of them, without the slightest courtesy.
"How annoying! If they didn't want people going in, they should've locked the door!" Killua complained angrily.
"Well, we did get to see it," Lu said, patting Killua on the shoulder in consolation.
"We got scolded… we got scolded…" Gon sat in a corner hugging his knees, looking devastated.
"Let's go to the next place," Lu called out.
Gon immediately revived, smiling brightly as he prepared to head somewhere else.
"Let's go!" Killua cheered, running after Lu.
That was the spirited vigor of twelve-year-old boys.
For the rest of the time, the three of them ran all over the airship, starting from the lowest level and gradually working their way up to the top. They probably even explored a few rat holes along the way.
Meanwhile, several examiners sat leisurely in the lounge, drinking tea and chatting.
"What do you think?" Menchi asked after taking a sip of tea.
"You mean the examinees' abilities?" Buhara replied.
Holding a basin-sized teacup, only Buhara could drink tea with such flair.
"Originally only one person was supposed to pass the test, but now so many did. I have to admit, this year's candidates are really impressive. There are even a few especially strong ones. Mr. Satotz, what do you think?" Menchi said, sharing her thoughts before asking for his opinion.
"Yes. This year's rookies are particularly good," Satotz replied calmly.
"I'm certain Lu is different. There's no doubt about him. But No. 94, the bald guy, also performed well. And not just because his bald head stands out," Menchi added.
Naturally, she was consistently full of praise for Lu. Of course, Hanzo—who had offended her—also left a deep impression on her, and she thought he wasn't bad.
The very noticeable bald Hanzo was, as usual, engaged in his training, completely unaware that an examiner was thinking about him.
"That's because he was the only one besides Lu who knew the detailed method for making sushi," Buhara said, unsurprised by Menchi's appreciation of Hanzo.
"I think aside from Lu, No. 99 is also outstanding. His palate is different from ordinary people's, and he scored very high. I believe he must have undergone special training," Satotz said.
Initially, Satotz had favored Killua, but Lu's performance had gradually amazed him. His score was the highest among all the candidates—it was impossible not to notice.
"That brat is willful and arrogant. He must be Type B. I can't get along with someone like that. What about you, Buhara?" Menchi said irritably, clearly finding Killua far less likable than Lu.
"Lu has extraordinary culinary talent. I like him too. But there's someone else who isn't a rookie that I've been paying attention to—No. 44. I think you've noticed him too, Menchi. Ever since he appeared before us, he's been emitting a frightening killing intent. It feels uncontrollable," Buhara said.
Despite his rough appearance, he was actually very perceptive. He had long sensed Hisoka's dangerous aura.
"Of course I noticed him. The reason I've been so restless is because of that man. I can feel that he's been looking for an opportunity to provoke me," Menchi said gravely.
"I feel the same way," Satotz added.
