Chapter 110 - Chapter 110 I Should Never Be Like This

Lucius nodded, caressing the silver snake head carved into the end of his wand.

Hearing this news, his expression softened considerably; his son's diligence had, to some extent, dispelled the gloom in his heart.

Narcissa then turned her attention to her husband: "Dear, you look very tired. Has something happened at the Ministry of Magic again?"

Scrimgeour seemed to have gone mad, insisting that it was their Wizard families who had cast a Curse on the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Magic.

He brought Aurors to raid various families every day and was constantly at odds with them in various meetings, big and small.

The Malfoy family never entered the Ministry of Magic, but their tradition of infiltrating it began in 1692.

That was the year the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy was enacted and the Ministry of Magic was established. From then on, the Malfoy family severed ties with Muggle high society and turned their attention to the Wizarding World.

Lucius smoothed his long blonde hair and rubbed his forehead.

"Nothing major, it's just that some items that were moved to other places to avoid the raids have gone missing."

"What's missing? Is it important?" Narcissa asked, a little worried.

Their family was vast and wealthy, and although there had been suspicions of them living off past glories for the past century, they shouldn't have been troubled by a few magical items, unless—it was very important!

"No, nothing. Just an item the Dark Lord gave me before. And I still don't know what it's for." Lucius finished, shaking his head, not wanting to discuss it further.

"I'm going to see Draco!"

Saying this, he stood up, the end of his walking stick automatically straightened, his wand inserted, and the crisp sound of his footsteps echoed in the empty living room.

The Malfoy family study was not small, somewhat resembling a miniature library, but most of the books were old. For the past century, they had rarely added to their collection.

In fact, they rarely entered the study.

If not for the House-elf's cleaning, it would probably be covered in cobwebs and dust.

On the intricately carved candelabra, the candle flames were fixed by a magical charm, and the light was magnified, not appearing dim.

At this moment, Draco had his second-year Hogwarts Charms textbook open in front of him.

Footsteps sounded, quickly interrupting his thoughts. He looked up and saw a tall figure enter the study.

"Father!"

Draco stood up and greeted him politely.

Lucius nodded slightly and sat opposite Draco: "Speaking of which, I haven't asked yet, how was your last year at school?"

"You've been very busy recently. I heard it's because of the Ministry of Magic..."

"No, you don't need to worry too much about that. I will handle these matters." Lucius interrupted him, a proud expression on his tired face.

"How was school life last year?" He steered the conversation back on track.

"...It was alright, very ordinary life," Draco said.

"How is your relationship with Harry Potter?" Lucius asked, "I heard he's a bit special in Slytherin. Not long after school started, he filled Snape's office with complaint letters."

"There's such a thing?" Draco was a little surprised; he had never known.

"Hmm." Lucius nodded.

After receiving confirmation, Draco quickly suppressed the surprise in his heart. He looked at his father's expression, recalled past conflicts, and still said, "Our relationship is average."

"Average?" Unexpectedly, Lucius's tone instantly became a little heavier.

"I think it's essential to build a good relationship with someone who ranks first in their year. Perhaps you don't know yet, but many older family scions in your house have already started to curry favor with him.

And you, as his classmate in the same year, only have an average relationship with him?"

"You're still not sharp enough, Draco." Saying this, Lucius's expression softened slightly, and he sighed: "If possible, build a good relationship with him. This will help you in the future."

Draco's face was flustered, and he tried to explain: "I... I just wanted to make friends, I didn't think... about the future... or getting help."

"Don't be silly!" Lucius interrupted him.

The entire study fell silent.

Looking at his son, who had achieved no results in his first year at Hogwarts, he sighed inwardly and finally could only say helplessly, "At the very least, don't make an enemy of him."

Draco clenched his hand under the table and nodded: "I understand, Father."

Lucius let out a long breath, then his gaze fell on the book in front of him, and his mood improved greatly.
