However, when the Little Wizards entered, they were all somewhat disappointed.
There was nothing special about the classroom's setup; it was much tidier than Quirrell's had been, but it made one wonder if it was perhaps too ordinary.
But the good news was… at least there was no foul garlic smell.
The Gryffindor and Slytherin Little Wizards quickly took their seats.
However, soon, something surprising happened: one after another, older students quickly walked in.
Harry looked and saw a somewhat familiar figure, with short brown hair, wearing a yellow and black T-shirt.
"Cedric, why are the Hufflepuff fourth-years here?" Harry looked puzzled. Not only that, he even saw two older students from his own house.
Soon after, he saw the Weasley Twins enter the classroom.
"I don't know either." Hermione glanced, and though she was puzzled, she immediately turned back to look at 'Dark Arts: A Guide to Self-Protection', their textbook for this year was still the same one.
Hermione had already memorized it last year. Previously, she was full of confidence, but at the crucial moment, she felt a bit uncertain.
Howl slowly walked down from upstairs.
Immediately, all the Little Wizards quieted down.
"Put your books away first; books are for your own use outside of class," Howl said calmly, his voice clearly reaching all the Little Wizards.
"As you can see, I asked Professor McGonagall, when scheduling classes for each house, to place the second and third-year classes during the fourth and fifth-year break times.
This allows some students who wish to consolidate their knowledge to choose to review what they have learned."
"No, they never learned it at all!"
Harry was sure he heard that murmur from the back, followed by a low chuckle.
Howl also couldn't help but shake his head, then picked up the roll call, glanced at it, reviewed his memories from the end of last term, and then slowly put it down.
He sat on a chair and said: "Given that your previous Professor was truly unqualified, we will start from the very basics!"
Everyone looked expectant, and then they heard Howl speak.
"What is Dark Arts?"
Immediately, there were gasps throughout the classroom. What did this mean? Were they going to start with something so big right away?
We're still children!
However, although most people hadn't expected Howl to ask this question, they inevitably felt a sense of anticipation…
However, Howl then changed the subject.
"Some students, you don't need to keep your hands raised. I know this question isn't difficult for you, so if possible, please give this opportunity to others."
Hearing this, some people consciously lowered their hands, such as Harry, Hermione, Cedric, Ron, Draco, and others.
?
"Mr. Malfoy, I believe I just saw you raise your hand." Howl looked at Malfoy. He was a little surprised; he didn't often raise his hand, but this topic today truly resonated with him.
"Dark Arts is powerful magic used against enemies," Draco said loudly and proudly.
"Incorrect answer, but thank you for your sharing." Howl nodded.
"Huh?" Draco looked astonished.
"Mr. Weasley, I also just saw you raise your hand." Howl directly turned to Ron.
"Uh… Ah, Professor, I was just… just scratching an itch," Ron said awkwardly.
The scene immediately erupted in cheerful laughter. Ron's face turned as red as his hair, and Howl could only quickly motion for quiet, restoring order.
He tried his best.
After all, he had to stop himself from laughing.
"The most prominent characteristic of Dark Arts is the intent to harm others. Dark Arts objects are made from materials intended to harm others. Dark Arts spells draw energy from the evil desires in one's heart.
For example, does anyone know about the Hand of Glory?"
Harry raised his hand again, and the Slytherin Little Wizards were very surprised. In their impression, Harry rarely actively volunteered to answer questions.
"Potter." Howl nodded.
"The Hand of Glory, a low-level Dark Arts object, is made from the left hand of a hanged man or a murderer's hand."
A very good answer.
"So what can it do? Will it help a Wizard kill people?!" A fourth-year Ravenclaw girl in the back asked, her face a bit tense.
"Potter." Howl nodded again, leaning back in his chair.
"I'm sorry, such a Dark Arts object made from a human corpse is merely a candlestick. It can emit a light that only the person holding it can see.
In the past, it also had the beautiful name of being a thief's and robber's best friend."
"What?!"
"That's ridiculous, I can do that with a Lumos, and if I want others not to see, I can use a Night-Vision Charm!"
"That's all it does? Made from a human hand."
The entire classroom immediately became noisy. This was vastly different from the Dark Arts they had heard about since childhood.
What they had always known since childhood was how cruel and dangerous Dark Arts were.
However…
When danger is no longer so dangerous, cruelty becomes even more prominent.
