Kelsey recalled her first encounter with Lord Deon. A crack had formed in her memory seal, and she fainted immediately when a strange force struck her mind. Even so, she clearly remembered an image flashing through her consciousness.
It didn't happen only once—but twice, in two different moments. And somehow, Kelsey had felt genuine concern from him—both when she was unconscious and even now.
If the demon lord had intended to harm her, he could have done so without approaching her or spinning such elaborate tales.
"I'm afraid Lord Deon wasn't lying. He truly is your father."
Even though Kelsey was beginning to believe he wasn't deceiving her, that didn't mean she could accept it. His age and her own made no sense. And if he lied to her, how could the gods have failed to awaken her under the name they had chosen?
If she were truly Lord Deon's daughter, then how could she have only emerged from an Eternal vessel a century ago?
Only Lord Deon could answer those questions.
