Chapter 71 - The Girl in Aaron’s Photo

Aaron had gone to work early that morning, and the day unfolded like every other day had in the past few months.

I stayed home, taking care of Aaron's mother and keeping the apartment running smoothly.

At one point I had considered finding a job, but I wasn't ready yet.

After everything that happened at Victor's company, my confidence had never fully recovered. The memory still lingered in the back of my mind like a shadow I couldn't quite escape.

That case had never truly been resolved.

I never found out if I had actually been framed… or why.

Victor had handled everything before I even had the chance to investigate it myself, and somehow the whole situation disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.

At the time, I had been too exhausted to question it.

Now, months later, I sometimes wondered if I should have.

I walked slowly toward the window, resting my hands against the cool glass as I stared out at the city below.
