Chapter 17 - Reflection and internal growth

That evening, the sisters walked along streets they didn't know, streets that didn't appear on optimized maps. Lights flickered, signs leaned crooked, people laughed at small joys unnoticed by the world.

Aira touched a market stall, feeling the grain of the wood and the worn paint. "I used to worry I couldn't make a difference," she said softly. "But now… I see that it's enough to let people act, even if imperfectly."

Nysa erased part of a chalkboard equation, leaving gaps where certainty once lived. "We'll never know all the outcomes. And that's the point. Life isn't about answers. It's about permission. To try, to fail, to act without guarantee."

They paused at a quiet corner. A child stared at the stars, asking questions no one could answer. Aira smiled, watching someone help another, seeing small triumphs multiply quietly.

Nysa glanced at her sister. "We've done what we could. The rest… the rest is theirs."

Aira nodded. The city breathed around them, alive, fragile, unfinished — a world that would never be perfect, but could be human.

Somewhere, beyond calculation or prediction, the future listened, stepped back, and let itself be shaped.
