"A black dragon?"
"Yes, a black dragon. The very same one that roared today."
As soon as Charlie started talking about dragons, he excitedly used his wand to draw the shape of a dragon in the air.
The glowing lines formed a vivid dragon that quickly faded, but Rey saw it clearly. He had indeed drawn a fierce fire dragon.
"You've seen it."
Rey said with certainty. His words carried a double meaning: You have seen the dragon, and he is standing right in front of you.
"No."
Charlie shook his head with regret, missing Rey's hidden meaning completely. He never would have guessed that the Rey standing before him was the black dragon that had roared today.
"However, even though I didn't see it today, it will definitely appear again soon." After his momentary regret, Charlie's confidence returned instantly.
"How do you know it was a black dragon, and how do you know it will appear again soon?"
Rey clearly observed Charlie's shift in expression. His confident assertion seemed based on something, which piqued Rey's curiosity.
"Of course I know. Although there are many types of dragons, their voices are all different. So, by listening to a dragon's roar, you can naturally distinguish the species. The Chinese Fireball has a sonorous, powerful roar, loud as a great bell. The Common Welsh Green has a sharp, high-pitched cry...
"But the roar heard today had depth and lasting power. It should be a Hebridean Black. But..."
Once on the topic of dragons, Charlie really couldn't stop talking. But at the end, he hesitated, as if he couldn't figure something out.
"But what?"
Seeing Charlie analyze everything so logically only to stop suddenly, Rey pressed him.
"But today's roar was slightly different from a typical Hebridean Black. It was more powerful, more explosive, and it had a soul-shaking quality. It's the most unique dragon roar I've ever heard."
" Didn't you also say it would appear again soon?" Rey continued to ask. He hadn't expected Charlie to know so much about dragons.
"Of course! Today's roar was long and lingering, filled with a sense of venting and excitement. That kind of excitement is unforgettable, so I feel it will definitely appear again soon."
Charlie's analysis was indeed unique. Today was Rey's first time flying freely in the sky, and he had been incredibly excited.
Although Charlie's reasoning for predicting the dragon's return wasn't quite right, Rey did intend to practice a few more times. So, result-wise, Charlie's guess was accurate.

Charlie Weasley must be the brother Ron mentioned who studied dragons in Romania. This guy seemed to know everything about dragon appearances, habits, and so on.
Of course, that might just be relative to a novice like Rey.
Although Rey was truly of the Dragon Race, he didn't actually know much about dragons. Furthermore, modern dragons weren't considered true members of the ancient Dragon Race. Even Madam Hooch likely didn't know much about these modern breeds.
So, here they were on top of Ravenclaw Tower: a genuine Black Dragon and a dragon fanatic, chatting away about dragons.
Ravenclaw Tower was indeed a unique vantage point for observing the surroundings of Hogwarts in all directions, which was the real reason Charlie had come here.
"After I graduate, I'm definitely going to study dragons."
After chatting for a long time, Charlie revealed his dream.
He was almost a sixth-year student, so naturally, he was planning his ideal career for after graduation. Just like in the original story, he really wanted to study dragons.
"Romania is a good place for dragon research," Rey smiled and offered the suggestion from the original plot.
"Yeah, I know. It's just a bit far from home." Charlie nodded, taking it in. It seemed he hadn't fully made up his mind about going to Romania yet.
"What about you? What are you planning to do after graduation?"
Charlie turned the question back to Rey.
They hit it off well, both sharing a keen interest in dragons. Moreover, Rey gave Charlie the impression of a much older, experienced senior, offering insightful perspectives.
In their conversation, Charlie felt that whether it was life experience or understanding of the world, Rey was far superior to him. Unconsciously, he treated Rey like a much older upperclassman.
"Oh, damn it. You're still a first-year! Graduation is ages away for you!"
After asking the question, Charlie suddenly realized. He felt like he had asked a stupid question, so as soon as the words left his mouth, he slapped his forehead and pointed out the fact that Rey was just a first-year.
After a moment, Charlie looked at Rey seriously and asked, "Hey, do you believe that in ancient times, there was an intelligent race called the Dragon Race? Legend has it they could transform into humans, and partially transform their bodies into dragon parts at will."
Perhaps because the question seemed ridiculous to him, he braced himself for Rey to mock him.
"Yes, I believe it. That race did exist, and you will meet a true member of the Dragon Race in the future."
Rey nodded and answered seriously, without a hint of joking.
Charlie froze for a moment, then said, "I thought you were going to laugh at me. I didn't expect you to actually believe it."
"Why would I laugh at you? Unproven things aren't necessarily non-existent. Besides, modern dragons aren't exactly low intelligence."
"Right! You're a good friend."
Charlie slapped Rey on the shoulder happily. Gaining someone's approval naturally strengthened his sense of camaraderie.
It was getting late. After waiting a long time without seeing any sign of the black dragon, Charlie obediently went back to his dormitory. In his opinion, the black dragon wouldn't be showing up tonight.
After Charlie left, Rey stood on the tower for a while longer. After turning his head and catching a glimpse of a transparent figure dodging out of sight, he also turned and left the tower.
Since she still refused to come out and see him, Rey wouldn't force it. Besides, catching a glimpse of her shadow today was enough to be content with.

Strike while the iron is hot. The next day, before dark, Rey went to that cliff again.
Waiting until the sun had set and the last bit of afterglow faded, Rey closed his eyes and fell off the cliff.
With the successful experience from the first time, this time he transformed into a black dragon after falling less than thirty meters.
The first time was an unconscious transformation; this time, it was conscious.
Fighting the strong wind, he flapped his wings, first gliding for a long distance, then gradually pulling up.
Flying was always exhilarating, but this time Rey controlled his emotions, only letting out two low growls.
His route choice was different from the first time. This time, Rey tried to stay far away from Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.
However, as he flew over the Forbidden Forest and skimmed the lake surface, he caused a panic in both.
Dragons are naturally apex predators. Whether it was the centaurs in the Forbidden Forest or the merpeople under the Black Lake, the weak naturally feared the strong.
Likewise, immersed in the excitement of his flight, Rey was completely unaware of the panic on the ground and underwater. After all, he swept past very quickly.
After flying for over twenty minutes, Rey flew back to his starting point. approaching the cliff, he flapped his wings to hover, then landed steadily on his feet.
His body began to change gradually—first his legs, then his torso, and finally his flapping wings.
The entire transformation process was incredibly smooth, without a single hitch. The switch between dragon and human was as simple and instinctive as raising a hand or kicking a leg.
However, just as Rey was savoring the transformation process and looked up, he froze in place.
Agnes was standing right in front of him, staring in shock at Rey, who had just returned to his human form.
