London in '89 wasn't as safe as one might imagine. This was especially true in places rife with debauchery.
The hooded man who specialized in killing criminal bosses had appeared two or three more times in the span of half a month.
Three times, and each time he returned successfully, becoming more proficient with each attempt. It seemed he was accumulating experience.
This time, Rey's target was gone again. And just as the target was preparing to move the money to an underground laundering site, he was killed. In a very short time, that money became evidence for the police cordoning off the scene.
Once or twice, Rey even saw from a distance a policeman secretly pocketing some of the cash.
This wasn't the modern society of his previous life; it was a time when corruption was breeding. Rey wasn't surprised by this. Back when so many orphans disappeared from the orphanage, the police hadn't investigated seriously either, which reflected the social climate of the time.
Again, at the corner garbage area not far from the subway station, the hooded man was changing into his own clothes. It looked like he planned to take the subway after changing.
The dark night, with only a few scant lights in the distance, provided him with excellent cover.
However, this time, unknowingly, a man in his mid-twenties wearing a leather jacket walked up to about ten meters away from him.
"Who's there?"
Having just finished changing, the hooded man pulled out his gun and turned around. Seeing his movement, the other man stopped immediately but showed no intention of raising his hands to show he was harmless. Instead, he looked at him very calmly.
"Dr. Willy, I didn't expect it to be you."
Although it was dark, at a distance of a dozen meters, the general appearance could still be seen, especially since the two seemed to know each other. The newcomer called out the hooded man's identity immediately, not afraid of being silenced.
The hooded man named Willy was obviously stunned. He didn't lower the gun in his hand. Although the man in the leather jacket knew him, he didn't recognize the man.
"Hehe, Doctor. Don't think about it, I'm a newly hired orderly at the hospital. You wouldn't have much of an impression of me."
The jacketed man said with a chuckle, his expression as plain as could be, and he slowly walked forward.
"Stop!"
Dr. Willy raised his hand slightly, immediately stopping the other's slow approach. He was conflicted; his identity had been seen through, but he didn't know how to handle the situation next.
"Doctor, I didn't expect the Punisher who appeared recently to be you. Although I sympathize with your experience, you can't just find these people and kill them randomly."
"This puts me in a difficult position."
The jacketed man sighed, showing a hint of difficulty.
"What do you mean? Are you a cop?" Dr. Willy was stunned.
"No, quite the opposite. Among the people you killed, one was working for me."
The jacketed man didn't care about the gun in the doctor's hand at all. His self-revealed identity was indeed very surprising. Dr. Willy raised his gun, aiming at his forehead. In this moment, he had made a decision.
Since these drug dealing bosses were the other's subordinates, the fact that he was discovered could be resolved together.
"Thinking of killing me?"
"Hehe, I have a way to make your daughter, who is still critically injured in the hospital, recover."
Just as he sensed Dr. Willy was about to act, the jacketed man sneered and said something seemingly irrelevant.
"What do you mean?" Dr. Willy automatically filtered the jacketed man's words.
He was a doctor. His daughter had been beaten into a coma with severe injuries. He knew the extent of her injuries naturally and wouldn't easily believe the other just because of a sentence.
Hiding in the dark corner, Rey heard the conversation between the two clearly.
Rey wasn't big to begin with. The figure of a teenage boy crouched in the darkness of the corner, strictly controlling his breathing. It was absolutely impossible for the two present to discover him.
Just as Dr. Willy was questioning him, the jacketed man ignored the gun in the doctor's hand and walked over.
"Don't move!"
The doctor named Willy gave another warning shout, but the jacketed man just smiled, dismissing the warning completely.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out in the dark night. Dr. Willy pulled the trigger, and the bullet hit the jacketed man's left thigh.
The doctor knew the structure of the human body very well. He avoided the artery, aiming to control the opponent's movement with this shot.
The jacketed man's behavior was very abnormal. Before Dr. Willy pulled the trigger, Rey in the dark already felt something was wrong.
After the gunshot, the jacketed man was hit in the thigh, but he just squatted slightly and stood up. His walking seemed a bit hindered, but he recovered immediately.
Nothing happened?
No sign of pain, let alone falling to his knees.
Bang! Bang!
Two more gunshots. Dr. Willy was also surprised and fired two more shots. These two hit the other leg and the heart. However, the jacketed man just paused his movement, then looked up at the doctor and laughed loudly.
"Vampire?"
Rey was a bit surprised because two sharp fangs for sucking blood had appeared in the laughing mouth of the opponent.
No wonder this jacketed man was very casual facing the doctor and wasn't afraid of bullet damage. Except for garlic, vervain, and sunlight that could cause allergies, and chopping off the head, only a wizard's magic could harm him.
"What kind of monster are you?"
The jacketed man's silent smile put a lot of pressure on people. While shocked, the doctor didn't lose his cool. While retreating, he fired two more shots at the opponent's forehead. However, the jacketed man dodged these two shots to the head.
It seemed that although a headshot wouldn't kill a vampire, it would be troublesome.
"It's a waste that I can't suck blood."
The jacketed man sighed, simultaneously closing in quickly and knocking the gun out of the doctor's hand. However, at this moment, the doctor swept his leg low.
The sweeping force was great. The jacketed man didn't expect the opponent to be capable of close combat and was swept to the ground. At the same time, the doctor picked up a brick from the side and smashed it directly at the jacketed man's head.
But at this moment, the vampire's speed, much faster than a normal person's, showed itself. The jacketed man dodged the falling brick with a tilt of his head, and simultaneously kneed the doctor away with his right leg.
A vampire's strength is naturally much greater than a human's. This knee strike sent Dr. Willy crashing into the wall nearby. With such force, even if the doctor didn't break any bones, he wouldn't be able to stand up for a while due to the pain.
"I didn't expect vampires to be real."
Dr. Willy sat at the foot of the wall, staring weakly at the jacketed man getting up and said.
"Old man, there are too many things in this world you don't know. Hehe... after you die, I'll take good care of your daughter." The jacketed man laughed wantonly and obscenely, the meaning in his laughter self-evident.
A daughter is her father's little padded jacket, and the reverse scale in every father's heart. The doctor stood up with red eyes and lunged towards the gun that had been knocked away.
He hadn't lost his fighting spirit. No matter what, he had to kill this monster in front of him, even if he died doing it. The only plan now was to hit the opponent's head with the gun; maybe that would have some effect. That was why he stood up desperately and lunged for the gun.
However, compared to a vampire's speed, Dr. Willy had his limits no matter how fast he was.
Before he could land from his lunge, he was kicked into the wall again by the jacketed man. This time his head was spinning, leaving him with only the strength to stare at the jacketed man, unable to stand up at all.
Picking up the gun on the ground, the jacketed man walked up to Dr. Willy and smiled playfully at him: "Old man, I'm saving your daughter. For the sake of how beautiful she is and how much pleasure she gave us."
Unwilling eyes, filled with rage. The doctor stared with bloodshot eyes at the jacketed man about to pull the trigger, without a trace of fear.
He hadn't expected the person in front of him to be the culprit who harmed his daughter, but now he didn't have the slightest strength to resist.
However, just as the jacketed man was about to pull the trigger, a huge black shadow suddenly pounced out from the darkness.
This black shadow flashed past Dr. Willy sitting slumped in the corner, and the jacketed man standing in front of him with a gun instantly disappeared.
It happened too fast for the doctor to see clearly. When he came back to his senses and looked to the right, about ten meters away, a black dragon with spread wings had the jacketed man pinned firmly to the ground with its front claws.
The black dragon opened its mouth wide, and a solid stream of blue fire spewed out, quickly engulfing the jacketed man. Then, heart-wrenching screams rang out in the night.
"What... is this monster?"
The powerless Dr. Willy looked at the black dragon in front of him and the jacketed man struggling painfully on the ground. While shocked to his core, he asked himself in disbelief.
