Chapter 271: Kiana is Sirin? The Truth of K-423 Exposed!
As the Second Honkai came to a close, the chronicle's epilogue revealed that Theresa's memories had been rewritten by Otto using Fenghuang Down. The truth of the Second Honkai was sealed away; the world only knew that Schicksal had defeated the Second Herrscher, while the deeds of Anti-Entropy and Welt Yang remained unknown to all.
Siegfried returned Welt's Herrscher Core to Einstein. Although Einstein invited him to join Anti-Entropy, Siegfried declined her kindness. He had something he had to do—his daughter, Kiana, was still waiting for him to return.
Meanwhile, Fu Hua left Schicksal upon waking, though Otto knew all too well that she no longer had a home to return to.
Years later... after adjusting DNA from both Sirin and Kiana, Otto created numerous experimental bodies. However, none of these clones developed any form of consciousness.
After weighing his options, Otto made a bold move—he transplanted the Core of the Second Herrscher into the body of experimental subject K-423.
Yet, perhaps because the Herrscher Core had been previously damaged, K-423 remained unconscious even after eighteen hours.
["It seems this one is a failure as well... or is it that you simply do not wish to wake up, Second Herrscher?"]
Otto muttered to himself as he gazed at K-423 inside the container.
["Just what kind of dream are you having?"]
As Otto finished speaking, fragments of Sirin's memories appeared, accompanied by a narration.
["In the endless darkness, I have a false dream. In the dream, I miss the woman who was not my mother. I miss the warmth she once gave me; that warmth made me feel at peace."]
["I have wondered more than once. If I became an ordinary person... could I live happily with her?"]
["If I were given one more chance..."]
Inside the container, K-423 opened her eyes—eyes as blue as the vast ocean.
The moment the white-haired girl awoke, Otto showed a look of genuine surprise.
["I want to hear her voice one more time."]
["Ich Liebe Dich."]
With that final "Ich Liebe Dich," the story of the Second Honkai Chronicle reached its conclusion.
"W-What does this mean?"
Of all the people present, the most shocked was Kiana. She stared blankly at the scene of K-423's birth, replaying the fragment in her mind as she realized something was terribly wrong.
"What exactly... is the relationship between me and Sirin?"
The audience in the livestream was equally stunned. Until now, everyone had assumed Sirin and Kiana were two completely separate entities.
K-423 was created as a vessel for Sirin's descent; her life had been under Otto's surveillance and control from the very beginning. However, her encounters with her comrades allowed Kiana to find her resolve, grow step by step, and eventually gain the determination to fight for all that is beautiful in the world.
As for Sirin, the Second Herrscher, though she was a child who desperately craved love at her core, the many atrocities she committed were unforgivable. Furthermore, her later awakening within Kiana's body not only triggered a global Honkai eruption but also led to the death of Murata Himeko.
Since then, she had continuously tried to seize control of Kiana's body, pushing Kiana to the brink.
One could say that regarding this Second Herrscher who had done so much evil, the audience felt a mix of indignation and pity...
But this new plot development made the connection between Kiana and Sirin incredibly intriguing.
"Could it be... Kiana is Sirin?"
After a moment of silence, Senti offered her perspective.
"Shocking as it is... I think it's a near-certainty at this point." She shook her head and began analyzing it for Fu Hua. "This would explain why Benares protected Kiana back in Nagazora. It wasn't because of the Herrscher Core inside her... it was because Kiana herself is her Queen."
Fu Hua nodded: "Indeed, your logic is sound... At the very least, Kiana was born because Sirin yearned for beauty and longed for love. So, I suspect she is likely the manifestation of Sirin's kind side?"
At that moment, many viewers finally had an epiphany regarding previous events in the main story.
Combining this with the new plot, many old foreshadowing elements were finally paid off—such as why Sirin told Kiana she could never escape her. The reason was simple: they were originally one and the same. From the start, they were both Sirin.
Kiana was born from Sirin's desire for kindness, while the Herrscher of the Void carried Sirin's hatred and malice toward the world.
[So in the end, Kiana and Sirin were originally the same person? That's really something...]
[What should we even call their relationship? Kiana was cloned from the real Kiana's DNA and Sirin's DNA, and then her consciousness was sparked by the part of Sirin that yearned for goodness...]
[Uh, so does Kiana have to call Sirin... Mom?]
[All I can say is this social circle is getting messy.]
[Sigh, but if that's the case, won't the sin of Sirin killing tens of millions of people fall onto Kiana's head again?]
[That's true... no matter how you look at it, Kiana being a part of Sirin is a fixed fact.]
While the viewers were debating, Cecilia let out a long sigh.
She was deeply moved to see that Sirin's desire to see her again was so strong that her kind half awakened within K-423, successfully giving the girl a consciousness of her own.
But she also knew that the Cecilia in the game had already died in the Second Honkai.
This meant that Sirin's wish could never truly be fulfilled.
The thought felt like a heavy stone weighing on Cecilia's chest. This was another "beastly" move by the Honkai Impact 3rd writers. K-423, born from Sirin's longing, was destined from the start to never achieve her original wish, as Cecilia was gone forever.
Clearly, everyone in the livestream had realized this, and their expressions were filled with sorrow.
"Sigh... so in the end, I never got to feel Mom's warm embrace again."
Sirin spoke with some sadness. Although she was dissatisfied with her performance in the Second Honkai Chronicle, she truly empathized with the despair and helplessness of her in-game self. If she hadn't been adopted by Siegfried and Cecilia, and if she had fallen into a dark place like Babylon Labs, what would have become of her?
Ultimately, if the Sirin in the game hadn't awakened as a Herrscher, she likely would have died a miserable death during the experiments like her other companions. She would have cried out helplessly in the dark, receiving no answer. And when she finally awakened as a Herrscher out of extreme rage and sorrow, the whole world tried to kill her.
The life of the in-game Sirin was a total tragedy. And this tragedy didn't disappear with her death as a Herrscher; it continued through K-423—through Kiana Kaslana.
"Sirin, Mama is right here and I'm not going anywhere! You can have as many hugs as you want!"
Cecilia hugged Sirin with a look of heartbreak. Sirin, being hugged so tightly in public, turned bright red.
"Mom, everyone is watching... I-I get it! At least wait until we get home for this..."
"No, I can't wait another second! If I don't replenish my 'Sirin energy,' I won't be able to hold on!"
"I-I'm not going to run away, so Mom, don't hold so tight..."
Thus, even after the stream ended, Cecilia continued to hold Sirin.
Elysia summarized the broadcast, and after the guests said their goodbyes, the livestream officially concluded.
After going offline, Kiana looked at Cecilia hugging Sirin and then turned to Su Mu with dissatisfaction.
"Su Mu, so it turns out this lady is actually Sirin? Did you do that on purpose? What does that make me and Sirin then?"
Su Mu thought for a moment and replied: "How about this: you each handle your own titles. She calls you 'Big Sister,' and you call her 'Mom.'"
Kiana nearly coughed up blood: "You're trying to annoy me on purpose, aren't you?"
Su Mu looked innocent: "Is it really on purpose? When you lived with Sirin before, didn't she take care of you like a mother? Or do you want me to help you remember how you used to be..."
"Ahhh! Th-that was in the past! Shut up already!!"
Kiana panicked and rushed forward, trying to cover Su Mu's mouth with her hands. "D-don't forget! We're a couple now, a couple!" she whispered urgently in his ear.
Su Mu was helpless. He hadn't forgotten.
After he and Theresa had spent half a month in the hospital, they ran into Kallen who had come down for an inspection as soon as they were discharged. For some reason, Kiana—perhaps to avoid being disqualified as President and lose her right to manage MiHoYo—had begged Su Mu to pretend to be her boyfriend.
She had even argued quite righteously: "As long as Su Mu and I are family, aren't his achievements my achievements? It's all the result of my keen eye for talent and my excellent management!"
Su Mu couldn't understand her logic, but there was no helping it. He had chosen this boss, so he had to clean up her messes.
While the others were discussing the stream, Kiana pulled Su Mu to the edge of the studio.
"Alright, I fully understand that you don't want to lose the President's position," Su Mu sighed. "But there's no need to tell this kind of lie. Mr. Siegfried is taking it so seriously that he already views me as his son-in-law."
Kiana pouted: "My stinky old man probably wanted this anyway. I'm telling you, Su Mu, I only found out recently that he's been trying to get Auntie Theresa to set us up... I didn't believe it at first, but after I said we were dating, he was so happy he nearly jumped."
"I think he just thinks I'm useless and can't wait to marry me off... Hmph." Kiana swung her small fists in frustration. "Who wants to get married so soon! I'm in the rising phase of my career; I need to make serious money!"
Su Mu was astonished. Heaven forbid, the "Tuna" actually wanted to work hard for money? Had her years in the Customer Service department finally made her turn over a new leaf and evolve from a Paramecium? Su Mu felt like a proud father; seeing the once-lazy Kiana finally have such a strong drive made him want to cry.
"Wait... if you're so focused on your career, why tell this lie?" Su Mu asked. "You said you don't want to get married yet, so why make me your fake boyfriend?"
Kiana said matter-of-factly: "Isn't it obvious? It's easier to get things done with this identity! Even if I say I want to work hard, my dad and the others would just think I lack ability. But since they all think so highly of you, if you're my boyfriend, they won't question me anymore, right?"
Su Mu shook his head: "Aren't you ashamed at all? A relationship isn't something to be played with like a game..."
Kiana waved her hand dismissively: "Enough, you sound more like my dad than my actual dad... Look, if it were anyone else, I wouldn't be their 'girlfriend' even if I died."
"Can I take that to mean I'm special?"
"Of course you're special."
Su Mu didn't expect her to be so direct, which left him feeling a bit dazed. He didn't realize Kiana had her own hidden agenda.
Of course you're special! You're the one bound to my 'System'! You've ruined my plans to lose money so many times! You think you can just walk away? No way! I have to tie you to the MiHoYo warship so you work for me for the rest of your life! You hateful Su Mu!!
"Anyway, it's not like you lose anything, right? Once I have enough money to kick the Kaslana family to the curb, we won't have to play house as a couple anymore..."
"When I defeat my old man and live a life where I can make money just by lying down, I'll give you half my wealth! No, half is too much, how about three-tenths! Yes!"
Looking at Kiana seriously fantasizing about her life as the world's richest person, Su Mu suddenly felt a sense of relief. This kind of idiot was the Kiana he knew.
"I thought being the President of MiHoYo wasn't important to you." Su Mu smiled and reached out to ruffle Kiana's hair.
"Wh-what are you doing! Are you trying to take advantage of me!" Kiana quickly pulled back, looking at him with dissatisfaction.
"I'm just feeling a bit emotional... I didn't realize you cared so much about MiHoYo. I'm happy, Kiana."
Su Mu's words made Kiana freeze, and her face turned bright red instantly.
"Wh-who cares if you're happy! Anyway, that's that! When Aunt Kallen asks later, don't slip up! That's all!"
Kiana walked away with stiff, awkward steps—moving her same-side arm and leg together—running toward Siegfried and Cecilia like she was escaping a disaster.
"My daughter has grown up and learned how to be rebellious," Su Mu thought to himself, causing him to chuckle bitterly. Why was he acting like a father when Siegfried was right there?
While everyone was chatting excitedly, Su Mu didn't bring Kiana but sought out Kallen alone.
"Ms. Kallen... if possible, could we talk?"
His directness earned a nod from Kallen. "Just call me Kallen. I wanted to talk to you too..."
Nearby, Otto and Yae Sakura exchanged glances but remained silent.
"Shall we go to our company canteen? Kalpas's cooking is quite good."
"Yes, please! I've heard MiHoYo's staff meals are top-tier; I've wanted to try them for a long time!"
Their exchange caused Otto and Yae Sakura to stumble behind them.
"That... really is Kallen's style..."
"Kaslanas are always gluttons... haha..."
Led by Su Mu, Kallen went to the canteen while Otto and Yae Sakura sat a bit further away, ears perked to eavesdrop. After all, gossiping is human nature, and Overseer Otto was no exception.
"This is delicious! That's delicious too! MiHoYo is amazing!" Kallen's mouth was stuffed full, her eyes sparkling. The sight truly reminded Su Mu of the way Kiana ate.
As expected of the Kaslanas.
"Whew—I'm full! Thank you for the treat, Su Mu. It was delicious... I wish I could eat food this good every day." Kallen looked blissful, clearly satisfied with the meal.
"Ahem... But don't think a single meal can buy me off so easily? You should know why I'm here..." After a moment, Kallen coughed to regain her serious demeanor.
"By the way, Kalpas said he wants to have a barbecue party tonight."
"Please let me join!!"
She was completely played.
