Lyra found herself standing in a long academy hallway. For a moment Lyra didn't understand what she was seeing.
She was just in the forest and Damon...it was happening again.
A quiet laugh drifted down the hall. It was Amara.
She was walking toward the main staircase, books tucked loosely against her chest. Her long dark hair bounced lightly with each step.
Amara slowed as she reached the corner. Someone had just stepped into the hallway from another corridor. Damon.
He leaned casually against the wall, one shoulder resting against the stone as if he had been waiting there.
Amara stopped the moment she saw him, and her entire face lit up.
"Damon." Damon pushed off the wall slowly.
For a moment his expression looked normal with a smile on.
The smile was charming, warm enough that any normal person would believe it instantly.
"You look like you just escaped a lecture," he said.
