Eloise leaned lazily against one of the lockers, her arms folded loosely across her chest as she listened to her friends talk.
Or at least…pretended to. Her attention wasn't on them, it never really was. Not when he was there.
Kieran stood a few feet away, half-turned toward someone, who was saying something that clearly amused him.
Her gaze lingered just a second too long. There was something about him that just had her. That was exactly why she couldn't look away.
"Eloise?"
She blinked, snapping out of it. "Hm?"
Her friend nudged her shoulder lightly. "You've been zoning out for like five minutes. What are you even looking at?"
"Nothing," she said lightly. "Just tired."
"Look...it's Xavier."
She turned, and her entire expression changed to something softer and brighter.
Xavier approached her, one hand tucked into his pocket, the other holding onto the strap of his bag.
"Hey," she said, her voice lightening automatically.
