The infirmary became quieter after the argument.
Adrian had finally stopped laughing at Sienna calling Marcus a cannibal and wandered out to "find coffee or gossip," which usually meant both.
Lyra had stepped out to freshen up after making Sienna promise three separate times not to get out of bed.
Kieran still had not returned. That left Sienna alone with Marcus.
The moment the door clicked shut behind Lyra, Sienna slowly turned her head toward the far side of the room.
Marcus stood near the window with his hands in his pockets, staring outside like the trees were more interesting than people. Which, to be fair, they probably were to him.
Sienna narrowed her eyes. "You know, if I had known I'd be left alone with you, I would've pretended to faint again."
Marcus didn't turn around. "Tempting offer. I can still make it happen."
She gasped softly. "Did you just threaten an injured girl?"
"No. I offered assistance."
"You're so awful."
"So I've heard."
