The room they brought him into wasn't large. There was no space to run even if they untied him.

His wrists were bound behind the metal chair, ankles secured. A strap across his chest kept him pinned upright whether he wanted to sit straight or not.

He hadn't stopped shaking since they dragged him in. Not when they shoved him down, not when they tied him.

Sebastian walked in like nothing in the world could inconvenience him. His suit was perfect, not a single crease out of place.

He took his time removing his gloves, one finger at a time, placing them neatly on the table nearby.

"Daniel Reyes." Sebastian tilted his head slightly, like he was trying to remember something. "Ah, you've been here… what, three years?"

Daniel swallowed. "Yes, sir."

"Reliable, quiet and efficient."

That almost sounded like praise. It made Daniel's stomach twist.

"And yet," he continued, "you made a very… wrong decision."
