Chapter 119 - Chapter 119: Sa: Can We Call It Even?

Here is the passage with every instance of Sova → Sa:

The heart of Berlin.

Sa, wearing the appearance of Lucius's white moonlight Elysia, had already been here for some time.

She looked up and found the sun hanging high overhead — it was already noon.

The weather today was beautiful. A cloudless sky stretched endlessly in every direction, and warm sunlight fell on her face with a gentle warmth.

But no amount of brilliant sunlight could dispel the shadow on Sa's expression.

In her plan, the Herrscher of the Void should have descended upon Berlin this morning, and then, while Schicksal and the Second Fire Moth had their attention fixed on Siberia, she would use the opportunity to sink the European continent into the Sea of Quanta.

After that, she could safely withdraw from right under the Cocoon of Finality's nose — and also bring Lucius back with her to work as livestock and exploit thoroughly.

As for why it had been pushed to noon...

"You insufferable bastard — I am a deity of the Sea of Quanta, not your maid!"

Sa's expression was thoroughly sour, because the only reason her plan had been delayed until now was that she had wasted an entire morning on Lucius's laundry, cooking, tea-serving, and water-fetching.

Still, the endurance of these months had ultimately paid off. Upon learning that the Herrscher of the Void was about to descend on Siberia, both Schicksal and the Second Fire Moth had deployed the bulk of their forces there.

Upon discovering that the Herrscher of the Void was closing in on Earth, Lucius had also just departed by aircraft for Siberia.

Which meant her plan was now entering its final countdown.

"Once I complete this plan, I'll show you exactly who the real livestock is!" Having calmed down her simmering fury somewhat, Sa turned her gaze to the sky.

Her sight pierced through the thick cloud layers, crossed the cold and lifeless void of space, and finally found the Second Herrscher — currently busy stamping spatial marks onto meteorites one by one in the cosmos.

A shimmering cyan-green light flickered in Sa's eyes as she activated the mental guidance she had previously planted in the Herrscher of the Void through Nicholas's consciousness as a relay.

"Listen to me, Herrscher of the Void." Sa's tone was hazy and indistinct, carrying a dreamlike quality. "You are to carry out the divine mandate of destruction upon civilization. You will find that drowning these ants by sinking them into the sea is the most efficient method."

"Now — return to Earth and deliver your judgment."

After the spiritual force was transmitted, Sa quickly received a response from across the vast expanse of space.

— It was an undisguised, all-consuming desire for destruction.

Sa finally allowed a smile to cross her face, because she knew her mental suggestion had taken effect.

All that remained was to wait for the Herrscher of the Void to descend upon the European continent, use her spatial authority — bestowed by the Cocoon of Finality — to carve away a section of the real world, and sink it along with a billion-plus lives into the Sea of Quanta. Then her purpose for this visit would be perfectly accomplished.

Beyond Earth's atmosphere, Lucius piloted the Sirin racing through space at tremendous speed.

Channeling the Herrscher of the Void's authority, it traveled even faster than light could reach Earth's outer layer.

And within the Herrscher of the Void's sea of consciousness, a single cyan peacock feather was being tightly coiled and smothered by several jet-black feathers.

"Heh — I'd imagine Sa believes her suggestion has taken hold." Lucius steered the Sirin on a descent trajectory toward Europe while simultaneously contacting Jiuyou Base, having them prepare to deploy the Soldier God combat units into the Sea of Quanta.

Shortly after, Lucius descended from the outer atmosphere, cutting across the sky like a brilliant shooting star, arriving over the European continent exactly as Sa had anticipated.

As a deity of the Sea of Quanta, even a mere projection of Sa possessed physical capabilities far beyond any ordinary being.

So the moment Lucius descended, she saw the comet blazing across the sky.

Wearing Elysia's face, Sa curved her lips into a radiant smile. She watched the Herrscher of the Void plummeting from the heavens above and slowly spread her arms wide, as though to embrace this falling comet.

"Herrscher of the Void — reveal your authority. Grant civilization its trial!"

As if answering her call, the Herrscher of the Void's figure suddenly halted at a certain altitude. Spears shimmering with golden light erupted from behind her and shot outward in every direction across the European continent.

One of the Sub-Space Spears happened to land right beside Sa.

She watched as spatial power surged outward from the spear like a rising tide. Everything it passed over — buildings, living creatures — all of it began to turn transparent.

As a being with an extraordinarily deep understanding of the Sea of Quanta, she recognized what she was seeing: the Sea of Quanta and the real world were overlapping. The gateway to the Sea of Quanta had been opened.

What the Herrscher of the Void was doing in this moment was using her authority to carve a portion of the real world free, pushing it through this rift that now spanned the entire European continent — sinking it into the Sea of Quanta.

"And with that — mission accomplished." Watching everything around her rapidly turning transparent, Sa knew her objective had been achieved.

But at this moment, her face held no smile. Instead, a complicated mix of melancholy and desolation had risen to the surface.

Because the scene playing out before her was uncannily like the moment her own homeland had been swallowed by the quantum sea long ago. Having her original personality loaded back in meant that the sight before her stirred up a fox-mourning-the-dead-hare kind of cold loneliness within her.

"What a wretched world..." Muttering the offhand remark, Sa reached inward and personally extinguished the heat and complexity stirring in her heart. Her expression returned to one of perfect neutrality.

After her homeland's destruction, she had forged her conviction: to survive. To live on as the last ember of her civilization's light.

As for these humans who were about to become her sustenance?

In the span of time measured in the hundreds of millions of years, she had witnessed far too much. She had long since stopped feeling any guilt over them.

Come now — who keeps careful count of how many slices of bread they have eaten over a lifetime?

Watching the buildings around her begin disappearing like a drawing erased by a rubber, Sa knew it was time to notify her main body in the Sea of Quanta to prepare to feed.

In truth, Sa didn't need to personally alert her main body at all — because what the Herrscher of the Void had just done had already sent enormous waves crashing through the Sea of Quanta.

A continental-scale tectonic plate being hurled directly into the Sea of Quanta generated an impact powerful enough to tear apart many unlucky quantum lifeforms, and even entire world bubbles.

Yet amid such colossal waves, one being remained perfectly at ease.

It was a vast entity with a humanoid female form, its surface covered in white armor resembling some kind of biological material, with long train-like tail plumes trailing behind it like peacock feathers.

In the space surrounding her, the waves stilled. The surging quantum tide was smoothed away by a calm and steady force, standing in stark contrast to everything around it.

This was Sa's main body — a presence that was nearly invincible within the Sea of Quanta.

At this moment, she watched a landmass wrapped in a soap-bubble-like membrane rapidly materializing within the Sea of Quanta.

At the same time, a message from the projection she had sent to Earth arrived in her consciousness.

— Dinner is served.

Sa hesitated no longer. She beat her wings and flew toward the bubble-wrapped landmass, coming to a stop at a relatively close distance.

She knew that although this landmass appeared to have fallen into the Sea of Quanta, as long as the outermost membrane remained unbroken, it still technically belonged to the real world.

But that was no matter. With the Herrscher of the Void serving as an inside agent, this landmass and the billions of lives it carried would very soon fully enter the Sea of Quanta.

All she had to do was invest a negligible amount of time. For a being who had survived for hundreds of millions of years, time had never been a problem.

But Sa, her attention now fixed upon the European continent sinking into the Sea of Quanta, failed to notice that from somewhere far deeper in the sea, a pair of violet eyes had been watching her from beginning to end.

They belonged to a girl with her arms crossed over her chest, a pair of dark-framed glasses on her face.

It was Mei, who had entered the Sea of Quanta ahead of everyone else.

And right now, one enormous object after another was tearing through the gateway into the Sea of Quanta and materializing beside her.

At the same time, an energetic young woman's voice rang in Mei's ear.

"Miss Mei, the Soldier God weapon units have been fully deployed. Have fun."

At those words, Mei reached up and removed her glasses, tucking them into the breast pocket of her coat.

And as the glasses came off, the bookish and somewhat fragile air she usually wore evaporated instantly, replaced by a smile brimming with absolute confidence.

"Naturally. I'll be leaving this country bumpkin from Venus with some very memorable souvenirs."

"She'll soon learn just how foolish it is to dare invade a planet protected by our Blue Dream team!"

Magnetic fields surged around her. The Soldier God weapon units that had been deployed began rapidly assembling themselves, quickly forming a series of interlocking concentric rings.

The rings began to spin. The force of the magnetic field roared within them. Even the surrounding quantum tides were affected, erupting into chaos. Mei began using the amplification device to boost the authority of the Herrscher of Thunder she wielded.

Under normal circumstances this kind of commotion would almost certainly not escape Sa's notice.

But right now this entire region of the quantum sea had been completely thrown into chaos by the European continent that had suddenly crashed into it — providing perfect cover for the sound of Mei gathering her power.

Mei completed her charge quickly. But then she immediately ran into a problem.

"Now where exactly should I aim..."

Mei studied Sa in the distance with some deliberation, then ultimately fixed her gaze on the area below the waist.

And so — Mei took a single step forward.

The violent electromagnetic force tore open the quantum tides blocking her path, carving a road through the Sea of Quanta like the parting of a sea.

At this moment, Sa — whose attention had been drawn to the spectacle before her — was startled by the commotion behind her.

"What..." She turned sharply to look — but it was already far too late.

The next instant, Sa felt a force of absolutely terrifying magnitude make contact with her rear end — a force that felt like a planetary collision.

— BOOM!!!

With a thunderous explosion, Sa's figure transformed into a meteor trailing magnificent tail plumes, tearing through the surging tides of the Sea of Quanta, and crashed headfirst into the bubble-wrapped European continent.

And in the instant she passed through the soap-bubble membrane, the scenery around her shifted completely.

But it was not the European continental landscape she had expected. It was an endless, vast expanse of white snow.

And standing opposite her was an absurdly handsome black-haired young man with a white streak, alongside a small girl with silver hair and blue eyes — both watching her with completely unsurprised expressions, clearly having anticipated her arrival long in advance.

This is a trap.Sa thought.

The moment that thought surfaced, Sa didn't pause for even an instant. She turned and immediately moved to tear open the boundary between the real world and the Sea of Quanta — to return to the Sea of Quanta at once.

But just as she ripped open a crack in the real world leading back to the Sea of Quanta, she saw a flash of golden light — and the crack was immediately sealed shut by an invisible force.

Sa recognized it. That was the Herrscher of the Void's power.

At this point, Lucius smiled and said: "A guest who has traveled so far deserves proper hospitality. Now that you're here, why not stay and sit for a while before leaving?"

Sa did not bother responding. Without hesitation, she began driving her elbow into the space before her.

She knew that if she didn't get out quickly, something extraordinarily unpleasant was going to happen.

Upon discovering that the space had been sealed by the Herrscher of the Void, Sa's form erupted with a terrifying pressure. Centered on her, fine hairline cracks began spreading through the surrounding space — like glass on the verge of shattering.

In terms of raw spatial manipulation, she couldn't match the Herrscher of the Void. But through sheer overwhelming energy output, she could still force the space open and return to the Sea of Quanta.

That was, assuming she could actually pull it off...

While Sa was busy hammering at the space, she heard Lucius's voice.

"Kallen — I choose you! Use the Binding Authority on her, quickly!"

"Lucius, you bastard!"

Sa, hammering the space with frantic desperation, had not originally intended to pay the slightest attention to those two humans below. Even if they were the ones responsible for laying this trap and putting her on a collision course with the Cocoon of Finality's attention.

After all, she needed to escape before the Cocoon of Finality opened its eyes. Every second counted.

That was — until she felt a powerful energy wave surging toward her from behind.

Sa turned. She saw that the small silver-haired, blue-eyed girl had, for some reason, launched herself in her direction, grinding her teeth visibly.

She sensed the energy level radiating off the girl and instinctively raised her defenses.

Then she watched Kallen graze past her and go flying off higher and farther into the distance.

???

Sa was bewildered — until she heard an enraged shout echoing down from the sky above.

"Binding Domain — deploy!"

Golden chains came cascading down from the sky, instantly enveloping a range spanning hundreds of kilometers.

And then Sa realized: the power that had been abundant and full within her body was beginning to drain away. An exhaustion rose from deep within her. Even hammering the space before her could no longer tear open so much as a single crack.

At the same time, a terror of the most extreme and absolute kind exploded within Sa's heart.

She felt it — the Cocoon of Finality enthroned on the moon had opened its eyes. Its gaze rolled around for a moment — and then settled directly onto her.

"..."

Sa's body went completely rigid. She fell silent for a moment. Then, in a tone that carried a distinct pleading quality, she asked:

"If I told you… that someone kicked me in here... would you let me go?"
