Chapter 28 - The fight begins(2)

The Blade of the Northern Pass, Roric Barakor, stood like a monolith carved from ice and fury, his gaze fixed on the mangled heap that was once Detective Nao. Kenji, a dead weight over his shoulders, groaned softly.

"Hey, Detective Nao," Roric began, his voice a low, dangerous thrum. "I don't know what's happening, but there are monsters in the nation, and you surely hurt my master very much." He shifted Kenji's weight, settling him more securely. "So I don't know why the fuck you killed Leo, but because of this, my love life is falling apart."

Roric's mind flashed back to the chaos. He'd told the elf girl to protect Sister Willow, then seen the nation tearing itself apart. He'd found Queen Nerissa amidst the carnage, her trident a beacon of wrath, who told him of the coordinated attack. Kenji. Marie's call. The hotel. He'd rushed there, his heart in his throat, only to find it a smoldering ruin. But Marie was alive, barely. "Master Kenji… where is he?" he'd begged, his voice cracking. "The central museum," she'd whispered, blood staining her lips. And now, here he was.

The creature on the floor stirred, its bones knitting with sickening crunches. "Ahh, so now I have to fight you," it rasped, its voice no longer human. "No problem." Dark energy coalesced around it, and with a wet, tearing sound, the form of Detective Nao dissolved, sloughing away like wet clay. What rose in its place was a horror of chitin, sinew, and too many limbs. A hybrid monster, its true form, though not yet at its full power.

Kenji stirred on Roric's shoulder, his voice a pained whisper. "I can't say that much… but he's not the real Detective Nao. He's a creature that took over his body."

"Okay, Master, don't say much," Roric said, his eyes never leaving the monster. "Leave it to me. I will handle this fucking brat."

---

The scene shifted. Marie, her consciousness fading in and out, knew the situation was spiraling. With her last ounce of strength, she activated the city's highest-level emergency protocol. Sirens, long silent, wailed across the capital. The emergency forces arrived. Soldiers in gleaming armor, police officers with enchanted firearms, and robed magic users poured into the streets, a desperate tide pushing back against the monster invasion. They fought alongside the mermaids, their combined power turning the battle.

In the chaos, the maximum-security prison's outer walls were breached. Not all escaped, but the most dangerous did. The nation's Tier 0 prisoners—individuals so powerful and volatile they were considered living weapons of mass destruction—saw their chance. They didn't join the fray; they simply melted into the shadows, leaving the doomed nation behind.

---

Roric gently lowered Kenji against a shattered pillar, drawing his legendary blade, *Frostbite*. The sword hummed in his hand, its crystalline edge glowing with an internal cold. "Let's dance, you ugly fuck."

The hybrid creature lunged, its movements a blur of unnatural speed. "DIE, INSECT!" it shrieked, its claws extending in a technique it called **[CARNAL REND]**!

Roric parried, the screech of metal on chitin echoing through the hall. "You'll have to be faster than that, shit-for-brains!" he shot back, spinning into a low sweep. **[GLACIAL CRESCENT]**! A wave of razor-sharp ice erupted from his blade, forcing the creature to leap back.

Their battle was a symphony of destruction. The monster unleashed **[ACID VOMIT]**, a stream of corrosive bile that melted the marble floor. Roric countered with **[WINTER'S EMBRACE]**, a defensive technique that coated his sword in an aura of absolute zero, flash-freezing the acid mid-air. They exchanged blows, a whirlwind of insults and deadly techniques.

"Heh… heh heh… AHAHAHAHA!" the creature laughed, a wet, gurgling sound of pure madness. "So it's true! You're truly strong! The rumors weren't lies! But today, everyone will die! I will turn this nati—"

"No one's gonna die!" Roric roared, interrupting it. "If anyone's gonna die, it's you and your fucking monsters! Now shut up and ready to be killed!"

Enraged, the creature raised its hands. Three monstrous portals ripped open in the air. From them emerged three massive beasts, identical in shape but different in color. One was crimson, one was viridian green, and one was deep ocean blue. The RGB Trio. They were grotesque, hulking brutes with carapaces like polished gemstone and multiple rows of needle-like teeth. They began to make a series of high-pitched clicks and low-frequency hums, a bizarre and unsettling language.

"Attack!" the hybrid creature commanded. "Kill the guy with the sword!"

The trio descended upon Roric. The red one breathed a torrent of liquid fire. The green one spat globules of paralytic poison. The blue one unleashed concussive sonic screams. Roric was a blur of motion, his sword a silver shield. **[BLIZZARD'S DANCE]**! He became a whirlwind of steel and ice, deflecting, dodging, and countering, but the sheer volume of attacks was overwhelming. In the chaos of dodging the blue monster's scream, he stumbled, and Kenji's body slipped from his shoulder, falling hard to the ground.

"Master!" Roric screamed in horror.

The hybrid creature saw its chance. It lunged toward Kenji's prone form, ready to deliver the final blow. Roric was pinned, desperately fending off the coordinated assault of the RGB Trio.

But at the last second, Kenji's eyes snapped open. They were glowing with a blinding, golden light. "You… should not… have done that," he growled.

He slammed a palm onto the ground. **[AETHERIC OVERLOAD: CATASTROPHIC IMPACT]**!

A dome of pure, destructive Aether erupted from Kenji's body. It was a massive, uncontrolled explosion of raw power. The hybrid creature was caught dead center, the blast tearing through its body, ripping off limbs and incinerating flesh. It was thrown back, screaming, its form now a tattered, bleeding ruin.

Kenji stood, swaying, his own body smoking, the attack having taken a severe toll. Roric stared, stunned. "Master… how?"

"I woke myself up," Kenji grunted, clutching his side. "I can do it. I was just… charging myself. Waiting for the perfect moment."

The hybrid creature struggled to its feet, its body regenerating at a visible, horrifying rate. "Incredible…" it rasped, a flicker of something like awe in its eyes. "So that's how it is. The technique, Primal Essence… it can be learned knowingly, or unknowingly." Its gaze shifted to Roric. "I can see it now. You're on the path to master "Power and Reaction." Then its eyes locked onto Kenji. "And you… you're the same. Speed and Precision. That's how you were able to almost hit my weak point."

The battle reignited, now a furious two-front war. Kenji, a golden blur of speed and precise strikes, engaged the hybrid creature directly. Roric, his resolve hardened, turned his full attention back to the RGB Trio. Their fight was a breathtaking display of simultaneous combat.

Roric ducked under the red monster's fiery breath, countering with **[AVALANCHE LUNGE]**, driving his sword deep into its chest. Simultaneously, Kenji weaved through the hybrid creature's frantic attacks, his movements a flawless dance as he targeted its regenerating limbs with pinpoint strikes. Roric ripped his sword free, spinning to decapitate the green monster as it lunged, but the blue one slammed into him from the side. Kenji, seeing the opening, landed a devastating kick to the hybrid creature's jaw, shattering bone.

Finally, with a triumphant roar, Roric dispatched the last of the trio. He stood, panting, his body covered in gore and wounds. But it wasn't over. The three dead monsters began to dissolve into pools of their respective colored energy, which flowed together and merged.

A new creature rose, a colossal amalgamation of the three, a single, behemoth monster of swirling red, green, and blue energy. It was bigger, faster, and more powerful.

Roric was exhausted. Vulnerable. Kenji saw it. A flicker of doubt, a mere 1% of fear, touched his mind. *What if I can't? What if I lose Roric like I lost Leo?*

No. He wouldn't let it happen.

He pushed off the ground, his body screaming in protest, moving at a speed that defied his injuries. He analyzed the combined monster in a microsecond, spotting the unstable core where the three energies met. He poured every last drop of his Aether into one final attack.

**[AETHERIC DRILL: OBLIVION'S PIERCER]**!

He became a golden spear of light, striking the monster's weak point with absolute precision. The combined beast froze, then exploded in a silent, brilliant

flash of light, the shockwave a gentle, warm breeze that harmlessly dissipated. The threat was gone.

Kenji began to fall, his body completely spent, the Aetheric Drain leaving him as weak as a newborn. He was a husk, drifting towards the marble floor.

But the hybrid creature was not done. From the shadows where it had been hiding, it struck. Dozens of thick, barbed tentacles shot out, wrapping around Kenji's limbs and torso, impaling him in a dozen places. He cried out, a choked gasp of agony, as the tentacles lifted him into the air, his body a broken, bleeding wreck. He was in a death-type condition, his life fading fast.

Roric saw it all happen in a fraction of a second. He saw Kenji, his master, his friend, impaled and dying. The world stopped. The sounds of the distant battle, the ache in his own muscles, the very air he breathed—it all vanished. There was only the image of Kenji, broken and suspended.

Something inside Roric Barakor shattered. It was not a quiet break; it was an explosive, cataclysmic fragmentation of his sanity. A wild, untamed fury, a grief so profound it was a physical force, erupted from his soul. His vision tunneled, turning red at the edges. He was no longer a warrior. He was an avatar of pure, unadulterated rage.

"YOU…" he breathed, his voice a guttural sound that was barely human.

He raised his sword, *Frostbite*. The blade began to glow, but not with its usual cold light. It glowed with a pure, blinding-white energy, a power so immense it made the air crackle and split. The very fabric of reality around him began to warp.

"YOU… FUCKING… BASTAAAAARD!"

He activated his ultimate technique. The one he swore he would never use. The one that could erase a nation from the map.

**[FINAL JUDGMENT: HEAVEN'S PIERCING GALAXY]**!

Roric became a comet of divine retribution. He charged forward, not just moving, but ceasing to exist in one place and reappearing in another, the space between them folding. He swung his sword in a single, perfect arc. It was not just a slash; it was a conceptual attack, a wave of obliteration that tore through the museum, through the city block, and into the sky itself. A hurricane of pure energy erupted from the impact point, leveling buildings, vaporizing monsters in the shockwave, and sending a pillar of white light into the heavens.

When the dust settled and the light faded, the world was a crater. And in the center of it all, the hybrid creature stood.

It was perfectly fine.

A few deep scratches marred its chitinous armor, but that was all. It was unharmed.

Roric, however, was not. He fell to his knees, his sword clattering to the ground. Blood poured from every orifice—his eyes, his ears, his mouth. His skin was split open in a hundred places. He wasn't just in a death-type condition; he was a ghost clinging to a shattered body. He was almost dead.

The hybrid creature threw its head back and laughed, a sound of triumphant, cosmic mockery.

We flashed back to the instant of impact. As Roric's galaxy-destroying attack was about to land, the creature had made a single, subtle hand gesture. A one-time ability, its ultimate trump card.

**[KARMIC REVERSAL]**.

The ability to reverse causality, to make the opponent's own attack and impact land upon themselves instead of the intended target. Roric had, in essence, been hit by his own ultimate technique.

Now, both Kenji and Roric lay broken on the ground. Everything was over. The end had come.

The hybrid creature began to transform, its body swelling, the detective Nao skin dissolving completely as it embraced its full, true, final form. It was a towering monstrosity of nightmares, ready to kill everyone, starting with the two broken heroes.

But then, a voice cut through the silence. Clear, strong, and filled with an authority that bordered on divine.

"No. You are not going to kill them."

The creature froze, its multifaceted eyes scanning the ruins. It was irritated by the sheer audacity.

The voice came again, this time from multiple directions, a chorus of unwavering will. "Because the reinforcement has arrived."

From the smoke and destruction, they emerged. Hilda, her massive warhammer resting on her shoulder, her eyes burning with protective fury. Vespara, her twin blades gleaming, a predator's smile on her lips. Kiko, shadows writhing around her, her gaze cold and lethal. The elf girl, her bow drawn, an arrow of pure light nocked and ready. And the futanari witch Tiamara, her hands glowing with chaotic, multicolored energy, a terrifying grin spreading across her face.

The three goddesses, the protectors, the lovers, the friends. They had arrived.

The final battle was about to begin.
