Chapter 339 - Chapter 339: Confused Han Xue

The figure rushed straight into Xiao Jietian's arms. Xiao Jietian gently broke free from Han Xue's grip and embraced the beautiful woman who had thrown herself at him.

"Junior Xiao Tian, you're finally here!" The person in his arms spoke softly, her voice filled with joy and relief.

Meanwhile, Han Xue—standing right beside Xiao Jietian—froze in place. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she watched her own elder sister hug her savior so intimately.

"Sister… what are you doing??" Han Xue snapped back to reality, frowning deeply. "Sister, you already have a brother-in-law—how can you act like this?"

In Han Xue's mind, Xiao Jietian was simply too handsome, and she assumed Han Yue was trying to steal him away. But from her memories, her sister had never been that kind of person. Her small head was now filled with giant question marks.

"Oh, Xue'er? Why are you here?" Han Yue finally noticed her younger sister. She turned her head in confusion, then happily linked arms with Xiao Jietian. "Come here, Xue'er. Let me introduce you properly. This is your brother-in-law—my husband, Xiao Jietian."

Han Xue's gaze darted frantically between Han Yue's smiling face and Xiao Jietian's calm, handsome features.

Xiao Jietian… was her brother-in-law? Her brother-in-law… was Xiao Jietian? Xiao Jietian… was the one who saved her life? And…

Han Xue's brain short-circuited. For several long seconds she stood completely blank, unable to process anything.

After three full breaths, she inhaled deeply several times and asked in a trembling voice: "Sister… is this true? You're not lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you? This is real." Han Yue frowned slightly, puzzled by her sister's strange reaction. "What's wrong with you?"

Han Xue had never imagined something so absurd could happen to her.

The world was so vast… yet so ridiculously small.

She suddenly grabbed Han Yue's arm and—under her confused gaze—pulled her a few steps aside.

"Xue'er, what are you doing?" Han Yue wasn't angry; she simply tilted her head and looked curiously at her younger sister.

"Sister… I… I… I have something to tell you…"

Han Xue stole a quick glance at Xiao Jietian, then switched to sound transmission to speak privately with Han Yue.

Suddenly, Han Yue let out a soft exclamation of disbelief: "What?! Is what you're saying true?!"

"Sister—keep your voice down!!" Han Xue hurriedly covered Han Yue's mouth with her hand.

The two sisters stood in front of Xiao Jietian, their expressions constantly shifting as they whispered back and forth.

Xiao Jietian could only watch them in mild confusion.

About a minute later, Han Yue and Han Xue returned to stand before him. Han Yue kept scrutinizing Xiao Jietian carefully, while Han Xue stood with her chest slightly caved in, head bowed low—looking as though she couldn't even see her own toes.

"Junior Xiao Tian… did you save Xue'er?" Han Yue asked seriously.

Xiao Jietian nodded. He already knew what she was asking about.

"At the time, I was just passing by and smelled the aroma of roasted meat. I'd been traveling through spatial wormholes for so long that when I caught the scent, I suddenly felt hungry. So I went over and mooched a meal. Then, coincidentally, someone had bad intentions—so I stepped in. Consider it repayment for the roasted meat."

"You didn't go over because Xue'er is pretty, did you?" Han Yue gave him a playful glance. They knew each other too well; she understood his personality perfectly.

"Of course it was a coincidence! I never expected her to be your sister. You never even told me you had a younger sister."

Xiao Jietian naturally wouldn't admit that he had known about Han Xue long before crossing over. For now, he had to pretend ignorance—and truthfully, Han Yue had indeed never mentioned her sister to him.

"Really? I didn't tell you?" Han Yue asked uncertainly.

"No, you never did. I'm very sure of that." Xiao Jietian nodded solemnly.

"Then… then… then why didn't you say anything just now?" A weak, shy voice came from the side.

"I tried to say something earlier, but you kept pulling me along and wouldn't let me speak." Xiao Jietian had prepared this excuse long ago—he had deliberately acted that way on purpose.

When pursuing someone, one must set traps. Since ancient times, pure affection fades quickly—only schemes win hearts.

Han Xue heard this and slowly raised her head. She carefully recalled everything that had happened.

Indeed… he had tried to speak several times, and his words had hinted that he was about to reveal something important.

But at the time she had been too excited and hadn't noticed at all. She had only been thinking: I can't let him leave again. I have to keep him here—at least long enough to know where to find him next time.

"Uh… uh… uh… it seems so…" Han Xue covered her face with both hands in utter embarrassment. Then, unable to face anyone, she turned and fled into the Han Family residence like a startled rabbit.

Her emotions were now an utter mess—impossible to calm down. If she stayed even a moment longer, she didn't know what other foolish things she might do.

As for "vetting" her sister's husband… that thought had completely vanished. She didn't even know how to face herself right now.

Ahhh… I want to die…

"What's wrong with your sister?" Xiao Jietian watched Han Xue's retreating figure and asked Han Yue with an innocent, puzzled expression.

"Sigh… what a mess. Let's not worry about her for now. She needs time to calm down." Han Yue sighed softly, then linked arms with Xiao Jietian and walked toward the Han Family mansion.

"Greetings, Son-in-Law!!"

The guards at the gate had not overheard their conversation—some things simply weren't meant for their ears.

To survive in such a cutthroat world, one rule was absolute: never listen to what you're not supposed to hear. So the two had long ago sealed off their hearing when speaking privately.

Xiao Jietian naturally noticed their respectful demeanor. With a casual flick of his hand, two fourth-grade healing pills floated gently before them.

"This is a small meeting gift for you."

"Thank you, Son-in-Law!!" The two guards received the pills with overjoyed expressions and bowed deeply in gratitude.

Xiao Jietian waved his hand lightly and continued inside with Han Yue.

Han Yue looked quietly proud. Her man's capability was truly something to boast about. She had personally witnessed his alchemy skills—he could refine large batches of fourth-grade pills with ease.

In the Han Family's main hall, Han Chi sat waiting. Hearing footsteps, he slowly looked up toward the entrance.

He saw his eldest daughter walking in arm-in-arm with a man.

His gaze settled on the young man. He was immediately struck by Xiao Jietian's appearance—like a banished immortal—and his noble, ethereal temperament.

Some people needed no introduction. One glance was enough to know they came from extraordinary origins.

"Father, this is my junior—the one I told you about. My beloved… and your future son-in-law." Han Yue was slightly nervous. She used several titles in quick succession to introduce him.

After introducing Xiao Jietian, she turned to her father: "Junior Xiao Tian, this is my father, Han Chi."

"Uncle Han, hello." Xiao Jietian smiled warmly in greeting, then took out several jade boxes. "Uncle, I prepared a few small tokens of respect before coming. Please don't think them too humble."
