After Amaru pulls out a yellow stone that bears Old English Inscriptions that are engraved in a vivid blue hue, Amaru tells Hirata "Place your hands upon this stone and concentrate your Linguistic Energy upon it."
Hirata confused "B-but how do I actually do that? I have never tried this sort of thing."
Amaru "There is something that I have not yet disclosed to you, of which you should be aware, Hirata Alex."
Hirata "what is it?"
Amaru "Your Linguistic Energy has a switch, literally a power on/off switch– you can turn it on and off whenever you desire, and you seem to be unconsciously keeping it on most of the time I noticed."
Hirata says "Switch? Unconsciously always on?"
Amaru says "Now since your Linguistic Energy is on, place your hand around this stone and your Linguistic Energy shall be calibrated, I'll answer any questions you have during the recalibration process."
Hirata places his hands around the Yellow stone then closes his eyes and focuses his energy on the stone– moments later the Yellow stone's blue Inscriptions light up, resonating with Hirata's energy.
Amaru "This will take several minutes, stay focused. I have something important to tell you."
Hirata "Okay, all set."
Amaru "The three Branches of Power are called together 'The Law of Structural Intent'."
Hirata and Haruto confused "The Law of The Structural Intent?"
Amaru "That makes sense, especially after I told you that you have the ability to switch your power on or off at will, don't you think?"
Hirata while focusing his power on the stone "Wait... that actually makes sense, Structural Intent..."
Amaru to Haruto in whispers "I think he is starting to get it."
Hirata "Anyway Sensei, I have a lot of questions to ask you after the recalibration, some of them are sensitive though I consider these questions very crucial for our training."
Amaru "Absolutely."
Subsequently, a mix of blue and yellow projection of an energy meter emerges from the stone; the meter comprises five tiers, and Hirata attains three out of five.
Then Hirata opens his eyes and looks at the result of the recalibration.
Amaru "So you stand at the Third Measure."
Hirata and Haruto wondering "Third Measure?"
Amaru answers "The Branches of Power have a grade system within– as I told you not everyone is equal, everyone has a distinct threshold– or more precisely, a designated grade for their power."
Amaru Continues explaining "There are five grades. The weakest and the First is called The First Measure, the second weakest is called The Second Measure, then the Middle one which is neither strong nor weak– The Third Measure, and fourth which is stronger is called the Fourth Measure, and finally the strongest grade or ranking which is The Fith Measure.'
Haruto "Aren't these names a bit too literal?"
Hirata "For real..."
Amaru "Any questions regarding your measurement, Hirata Alex?"
Hirata "Yes! If I stand at the Third Measure, is it actually possible to go beyond my grade? Like evolving to the Fourth Measure or even the Fith."
Amaru "It is absolutely possible! But it is not simple especially for naive people, not to mention its actual difficulty."
Hirata "Before you tell me how, I have been wanting to ask you this for so long– why are you training us? What are we training for exactly?"
Hirata adds "The fact you were fighting someone back then means something really serious is happening, I am very surprised that you have not told us anything yet regarding this! Please explain this, Amaru Sensei!"
Amaru "You are extremely right to ask this question and I shall answer it, but before that..." Amaru points at Haruto and asks him "Haruto Okabe, did you sense the fight back then?"
Haruto answers "Quite frankly yes, how could not I? It was intense..."
Amaru "Another Proof that you possess A Branch's power, meaning you are heavily involved in this."
Haruto "In what?"
Amaru "I am going to answer now."
Amaru inhales and exhales, then starts speaking "It is because you two are being hunted down."
Hirata shocked "Hunted down? Why and by who?"
Haruto "You can't be serious!"
Amaru "They call themselves The Silent Abyss, I do not know much about them and their motives, but they seem to be killing anyone who possesses powers from the Branches of Language and Ritual."
Hirata "The Silent Abyss... but why these two Branches only? What about The Branch of Silence?"
Amaru "I do not know yet frankly, but they are dangerous! That is what I can confirm."
Amaru adds "Hirata Alex, When you sensed me fighting someone, he turned out to be one of them– you were his target."
Hirata "Me? But where did you fight him?"
Amaru "It was in a classroom, that is where I teleported and sensed your leftover Linguistic Energy, and I think that is how the Silent Abyss found their way there."
Haruto "Hirata! That must be from the exam incident if you remember!"
Hirata "WHAT? You were fighting in my classroom? How is the Property damage was basically zero then? Because if there had been, there would be almost immediate reports from the university!"
Amaru "I tried to to minimize the property damage as much as I could, thankfully which I was able to do so, though with difficulty– my opponent seemed very strong and from what I saw his powers were unusual, or rather I should say rare– a more fitting word."
Haruto asks Amaru "Judging by the energy I felt, I think he possesses powers from the Branch of Ritual."
Hirata "Actually no, I sensed his Linguistic Energy from there as well."
Haruto "Wait what? How can we sense two different type of energies?"
Hirata "Amaru, please explain."
Amaru "Both of you are totally correct! Hirata Alex, Haruto Okabe."
Hirata "WHAT!? So you are telling us that the guy you fought possesses powers from more than one Branch? Is that really possible?"
Haruto responds to Hirata "Actually, Amaru never said every possesor has exactly one Branch."
Hirata "Now that you mention it, that is totally true."
Amaru "Yes, this guy fought me employed his Linguistic Energy to multiply a kunai as he hurled it toward me, causing it to transform into a shower of kunai."
Haruto "And how did he utilize the Branch of Ritual?"
Amaru "He used some kind of sword, it was insanely powerful and could shoot projectiles using it. He mixed the two Branches of power together and created a unique combination."
Hirata "That is actually insane, imagine the amount of possibilities."
Haruto "There has to be a catch right? There is no way such an easy come comes without any limitations or risks!"
Amaru "I cannot confirm yet, since such individuals are very rare and are not easily discovered, but from what I noticed– the guy that I fought in your classroom only used Middle English... still this is just my conjecture and I could be wrong... in fact he could have been holding back."
Hirata "This guy is bad news, seems like..."
Amaru "As I said, I do not know what their specific goals are, but no matter what, you should be strong enough to fight this organization, for your sake and the sake of the ones you love."
Hirata "I see, that is a lot to process... I do not even know what to say..."
Haruto "Any predictions on their next move?"
Amaru "Actually, I have a suspicion! That place where Hirata Alex used Early Modern English to test his powers, I believe they will follow the residual Linguistic Energy after that time you used in the forest– Similar to the classroom... though this time will take them a while since Early Modern English is weaker and harder to sense."
Hirata "So all we need to do is wait for them to follow the residual and then ambush them at once."
Haruto "That seems like the only thing we can do at the moment."
Amaru "We will leave the plan for later, let's call this a day. I will let both of you know when the next lesson is, stay alert."
Amaru draws a circle containing an unfamiliar symbol that resembles a horn (unknown yet): a portal then activates– Amaru leaps into it, and the portal vanishes.
Hirata after Amaru left "Wow... did you really see that?"
Haruto "He summoned a portal, or rather had drawn before he got in it."
Hirata sighs and says "I guess we should go back home, I am tired from today's lesson."
Haruto "Yeah... we should be careful from now on..."
Hirata "We are in the point of no return "
Then both leave the place and return to their homes.
