In the real universe, temperatures can reach one hundred billion degrees, which is more than a thousand times hotter than Yamamoto's Bankai, yet they have virtually no effect on the universe as a whole. There are more than hundred billion trillion stars (sun) in the observable universe but they can't destroy the living world. Or perhaps the Living World wasn't actually as large as the real universe but only as large as a solar system?
So was Yhwach not multiversal or universal level, but merely solar-system level? Well, he couldn't say. But Ichigo certainly isn't capable of destroying a galaxy even in a million years with his Getsuga Tenshō. { Otsusuki Kaguya can also destroy her dimension with the Expansive Truth Seeking Orb... though I rank her planetary to Star level }
So, he would assume Soul King Yhwach to be solar-system level with galaxy- or universe-level hax. Not that it mattered, as there would be no Soul King Yhwach this time.
As for normal Yhwach, Itachi could have defeated him fifty years ago, let alone now.
