Mori Tsukisa only then realized that one could actually get stuffed from eating too much 'fate'.
Since Nagini had 'cleared' this semi-military, semi-industrial Base, the fate lines generated by her Carnage squeezed through the sky in a dark mass, threads of tentacles boring into the girl's heart... she was full.
"Is this the reason for your episode?" Arrietty had wanted to keep holding onto Anck-Su-Namun, but after less than two minutes, she was flicked back to the ground by a jealous Imhotep.
The rejected Little Sprite had no choice but to choose Nagini's head as a temporary resting place.
"The reason is that I'm happy."
"I wasn't actually asking you for a reason."
Baru helped adjust the aircraft, and after jumping down from the cockpit, he remembered a crucial question.
"That sister..." The Boy looked at Mori Tsukisa speechlessly: "Please don't tell me now."
"That none of you know how to fly an aircraft."
Mori Tsukisa nodded as if it were a matter of course: "Well, that's for sure. Who would know how to fly such a thing?"
"Then what on earth was I doing adjusting it for so long..." Baru scratched his head and looked anxiously at Imhotep: "This... this gentleman, do you know how to fly an aircraft? It's very simple: the control stick, the rudder, adjusting the altitude—"
The Boy mimicked a few pulling-back motions... In the end, Mori Tsukisa and Imhotep acted as pilots, one taking Anck-Su-Namun and the other taking Nagini as they boarded their respective aircraft.
Just before takeoff, Mori Tsukisa even asked: 'What is this—(click-clack) lever for?'
'The deceleration bolt.'
'Oh... what if it won't move...'
'Don't say such scary things! If the deceleration bolt gets stuck, we'll crash!'
'Oh.'
Click-clack, click-clack.
Baru sat in his own aircraft, a bit worried: that brown-skinned man looked quite steady and probably wouldn't have any problems; it was just his sister... click-clack, click-clack.
"Stop pulling the deceleration bolt!"
"Don't you think the sound is very crisp and nice?" Mori Tsukisa held the red lever independent on the left side, her elbow forcefully pushing it up and pulling it down, pushing it up and pulling it down... "Sister!"
"I know, I know."
Click-clack, click-clack.
The propeller at the nose began to spin with a 'da-da-da', and the three differently styled aircraft hummed and vibrated, slowly taxiing out of the warehouse area toward the straight runway... "Keep close to us, Baru." Mori Tsukisa pointed at Imhotep, and that sapphire-like flying stone in the High Priest's palm shot out a faint path of light.
Pointing toward the sky.
"Worry about yourself first!" Arrietty shouted from Nagini's head. "I don't like the feeling of my feet being off the ground..."
Toot toot toot... The wheels turned faster and faster, and by now, the sound of the wind had begun to howl in their ears.
Imhotep steadily advanced his aircraft, with Anck-Su-Namun sitting behind, occasionally looking back at Mori Tsukisa.
"There won't be any danger, Ann." Imhotep pushed the control stick down bit by bit: "Without the constraints of the gods, my magic is enough to protect Isis's safety."
"I'm not worried about safety, Imhotep." Anck-Su-Namun gently covered her ears and leaned her body forward. When alone with her lover, this woman, usually as cold as Cleopatra, finally showed unease and weakness: "I'm worried about you."
"You know what we'll have to face once we fly into the blue sky."
Imhotep's palm loosened, and the aircraft suddenly decelerated.
"I know." The man silently turned his head, watching the houses and trees being left behind: "The gods."
"Tell me you won't leave me again."
The howling wind shredded the woman's answer into the airflow. He could only face forward, as the acceleration lever brought a roar, growling from his throat: "Tell me! Anck-Su-Namun, you won't leave me again!"
"Even when facing the gods."
"You can't leave me again, my love..."
"Imhotep, I..."
Anck-Su-Namun's slender arms hugged the man without saying a word.
The speed grew faster and faster, and they could clearly feel the moment arriving—the man operating the aircraft temporarily set aside the unease in his heart, his knotted muscles bulging as he pulled another blue lever with force!
The aircraft's nose suddenly lifted with a 'whoosh'!
It climbed into the sky!
"Yaha! They're flying!!" Among the three Master and servants in the middle position, only the girl driving was happy; the other two were trembling with fear: Arrietty gripped Nagini's hair for dear life, and Nagini gripped the leather-wrapped iron handrail for dear life.
"First Flight Squadron, Mori Tsukisa, requesting takeoff! The Little Boots is ready and standing by!"
"Stop talking nonsense! Pull the other lever, quick!!" Arrietty tugged at Nagini's black hair like crazy: "Hurry! We're going to crash into the buildings!!"
"Hahahahaha! Roger! Departing now. This is a fun journey; passengers please hold onto the handrails, watch out for drool, and maintain an elegant posture."
"Sen! Get! Su! Sa!"
"Pull the damn control stick!!"
"Click."
"Whoosh—!"
The roaring machine lifted its nose, and the small aircraft soared into the sky with a whistle!
It swirled through the airflow tainted with grass clippings and water droplets, breaking through shouts and screams, heading straight for the blue sky!
"Whoo-hoo!" The pilot, Miss Sen, peered down while pushing the control stick: rows of two- and three-story black-roofed buildings shrunk rapidly in her sight. As they flew higher and higher, the noisy sounds merged into one.
"Baru is below us."
Mori Tsukisa shouted toward the back: "He's flying so slowly."
"Look ahead! Please! You're about to hit Imhotep's tail!"
The young girl casually pushed the tiller to the right, and the aircraft let out a hum!
It banked and slid out at nearly ninety degrees!
A chorus of screams from the Little Sprites...
Nagini's face was pale, her throat tight, unable to make a sound. She hung her head, gripping the handrail tightly.
"Nagini!"
Nagini patted the fuselage in front of her, making a clanking sound on the sheet metal—signaling to Mori Tsukisa that she was listening.
"Nagini! Look down! Look quickly!"
"Don't be afraid! We are approaching the land of legend!"
Nagini hadn't applied lipstick today, yet she felt her lips were still turning purple... She quietly raised her head and quickly glanced at the outer edge of the wing with her peripheral vision: this counted as being obedient.
A flock of white shadows entered her field of vision.
The woman turned her head slightly to see more clearly: they were birds, a flock of white birds.
Perhaps while she was hanging her head in unease, the aircraft had already left Cairo. Below now was a lush forest; the birds burst out like white paper flowers amidst the emerald green, chasing the three steel machines and forming a soft ribbon of color.
"They're birds!" Nagini's tension faded, and her tightly clenched hands gradually loosened: "Arrietty, do you see them?"
"Yeah, it's rare. I've never seen birds before." Arrietty gripped her hair tightly with a blank expression, refusing to let go, and said resentfully: "You haven't seen them either, look how surprised you are."
Nagini, rare for her, did not snap back.
She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, gazing at the flock of birds weaving through the clouds.
A blue wind blew past, leaving behind its color and saturating the sky; the white birds flew by, their figures bursting 'pop' from the clouds, crashing into them like snowballs.
Fresh air filled her nose. The roaring machines made everything at this moment feel slow... as if time had frozen for them beneath the firmament.
"So beautiful," she murmured.
Mori Tsukisa was looking at the same patch of sky. The now-quiet girl had a wide smile on her face.
Everyone was very happy.
