Under the cover of night, a troop of cavalry galloped across the wilderness.
As the dark clouds in the sky slowly parted, moonlight shone on the cavalry, and the Holy Kingdom's emblem on their armour seemed to glitter.
"Charge!"
Remedios swung her reins, and her warhorse sped up, but she remained extremely anxious.
After evacuating from the Great Wall Stronghold, Pavel and his men led the army into Kalinsha, and news had already been sent back to Hoban.
Perhaps after some time, Calca and Quirat, upon receiving the news, would issue a general mobilisation order to the entire nation, calling all soldiers and militiamen to arms.
But before that, the villages between Kalinsha and the Great Wall Stronghold might be attacked by demi-humans.
Although the villagers along the main road had already received their notification and begun to evacuate to Kalinsha, some more distant villages were still unaware that the Great Wall Stronghold had been breached.
Therefore, Remedios led her Knight Order members, divided into several small teams, to the border villages to notify the Holy Kingdom's citizens there.
"We'll make it! We'll definitely make it!"
After occupying the Great Wall Stronghold, the demi-humans would likely take some time to rest. As long as they reached the villages before the demi-humans moved again, they could ensure the swift evacuation of the border villagers.
Remedios's current target was the farthest village, Olyss Village, which was closest to the Great Wall, most susceptible to demi-human attacks, and the most dangerous place.
"What is that?! Damn it!!!"
In the dark of night, the burning wooden house looked so conspicuous, like a guiding lighthouse.
But it brought no joy to Remedios; instead, a surge of anger filled her heart. Biting her lip, she knew she was too late!
"Prepare for battle!!!"
Rage made Remedios roar, and then with a clang, she drew her holy sword. The cavalry swiftly charged through the broken fence at the village entrance.
Most of the houses in this village were engulfed in flames. In the flickering firelight, Goatmen were wantonly slaughtering the dying Holy Kingdom villagers.
A Goatman, holding a Holy Kingdom iron sword aloft, was about to stab a child through the heart when the sudden sound of hooves made it turn its head.
A sharp flash of a sword, and Remedios, on horseback, arrived, beheading it with a single strike.
She immediately dismounted and picked up the child lying in a pool of blood.
Besides bruises from being beaten by the Goatman, his forehead seemed to have been broken by a blunt object, and there was a wound on his chest extending from his left shoulder to his right abdomen, constantly oozing blood.
Remedios did not hesitate and immediately used her healing power. Holy light shone on the child's chest, and the gruesome wound slowly began to heal.
Although he still hadn't woken up, his breathing had become much more stable, which made Remedios breathe a sigh of relief.
The other Holy Knights also engaged in battle with the Goatmen, attacking the village. For a time, the village was filled with the sounds of combat.
"Kalevan!"
"Yes, Commander!"
Remedios called out to the nearest Holy Knight. He immediately understood her meaning, pushed the Goatman he was fighting away with his sword, and then turned to move in her direction.
The Goatman, of course, would not let this opportunity pass and immediately charged at Kalevan.
Its speed was faster than a human's, and it quickly reached his back, thrusting the longsword in its hand towards Kalevan's back.
Kalevan showed no reaction to its attack.
In the next second, Remedios and her subordinate passed each other, and the Goatman's head flew high into the air.
After entrusting the injured child to Kalevan, Remedios was like a tiger unleashed, moving swiftly among the Goatmen with a furious heart. Her holy sword unleashed a series of holy strikes, cutting down all the Goatmen in the village square as if slicing melons and vegetables.
"Quickly check for survivors and treat the injured!" Remedios shoutey, and the surrounding Holy Knights immediately began to act according to her command.
Remedios walked into a collapsed wooden house, moved aside the obstructing pillars, hoping to find survivors inside the wooden house.
Unfortunately, when she moved the debris, what she saw was an adult male lying in a pool of blood. There was a large hole in his chest, and the blood seemed to have dried.
"Thud!"
Remedios punched the nearby wooden board, directly breaking it, "Damn demi-humans!!!"
Just then, a Holy Knight ran to her side, saying with a somewhat anxious expression, "Commander! This is bad, quickly come and see!"
"What happened!"
When Remedios followed the Holy Knight to the end of the village, she immediately saw three Goatmen surrounded by four other Holy Knights.
Despite having a numerical advantage, these four Holy Knights did not attack them; instead, their faces showed apprehension.
It wasn't because these two Goatmen were powerful, but because in their hands were two severely wounded Holy Kingdom villagers: a young village woman and her child.
"Please! You must save my child!!!"
The village woman knelt on the ground, her shoulder held down by a Goatman, a sword at her throat, and a wound on her abdomen constantly bleeding. But upon seeing the Holy Knights, the mother desperately cried out to them for help, regardless of her own condition.
"They're taking hostages!? Cowards!" Remedios shouted. Her voice immediately attracted the attention of the two Goatmen.
"Let us go quickly, or I'll kill this woman!" The Goatman holding the mother immediately tightened its grip on the sword, directly cutting a gash on the village woman's neck. Blood slowly began to seep out as it threatened.
"Stop!" Remedios quickly spoke. Although she desperately wanted to tear these three demi-humans to shreds right now, seeing the hostages in their hands, she dared not act rashly.
"Less talk! Move aside!"
The Goatman said somewhat anxiously, while pressing the sword harder against the village woman's neck. More blood flowed, and the pain made the village woman let out a wail.
"Alright! We'll let you go, but you must not harm the hostages!" Remedios gritted her teeth and said.
A smile immediately appeared on the Goatman's face, and then it pulled the village woman up from the ground.
The three Goatmen used the two hostages as shields, one in front and one behind, with the one in the middle responsible for guarding against sneak attacks. They slowly moved towards the village entrance amidst the Holy Knights' encirclement, finally reaching outside the village.
"This human is too troublesome," the leading Goatman said with great disdain, looking at the struggling village woman. During their movement, her slightly taller stature compared to the Goatmen caused a considerable obstruction. "So, we'll return her to you!"
Saying this, the Goatman directly pushed the village woman towards the Holy Knights.
Remedios immediately stepped forward, wanting to support the village woman who was about to fall, but her eyes inadvertently caught sight of what was behind her, and her pupils suddenly constricted, "No!!!"
A cruel smile appeared on the Goatman's face, and its raised longsword swung down fiercely.
A cold flash of light, and gushing blood scattered in the air.
