Noah woke with a start. His alarm blaring in the small motel room, he groaned and rolled onto his back, rubbing his eyes. The dreams from last night lingered.m,shadows moving in the office network, the hacker's voice whispering threats, and a strange feeling of being watched.

He sat up and ran a hand through his hair.

"Okay… calm down," he muttered. "It's just work today… mostly."

But deep down, he knew it wouldn't be just work.

After a quick breakfast of instant coffee and leftover toast, Noah grabbed his bag and left the motel. Gotham was quieter than usual, the morning fog lingering between skyscrapers and streetlamps. He kept his pace steady, eyes scanning the streets, his senses alert.

He arrived at the office just as the elevator dinged open. Ms. Lin waved from her desk.

"Morning, Noah. You ready for another day of chaos?" she teased lightly.

Noah smirked. "More like another day of pretending everything's normal."

She laughed, the sound soft and melodic, and something in Noah's chest warmed.

She's harmless… right? he thought, feeling an odd flutter.

The morning passed predictably. Emails, minor system issues, and network maintenance filled his time. But even in the routine, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. Every ping, every glitch made his heart rate spike slightly.

Then, just before lunch, his phone buzzed.

A text from an unknown number.

"Meet me at Gotham Central Park. Noon. Don't tell anyone."

Noah frowned. His first thought went to the hacker from yesterday. But the message didn't have the usual cold, threatening tone. There was… curiosity in it.

He debated for a moment. Should he go? It was dangerous. Too risky. But he couldn't ignore it either. He needed to know who—or what—was following him.

Alright, he muttered to himself. Just be careful. And don't show powers unless you have to.

Noah slipped out of the office quietly and made his way to Gotham Central Park. The city noises softened here, replaced with the sound of leaves rustling in the wind and distant chatter of park-goers.

He spotted a figure near a fountain. A woman, her long red hair catching the light in fiery strands, kneeling near a flower bed and inspecting the plants.

"No way," he muttered under his breath.

It was Pamela. Poison Ivy. She looked even more beautiful in daylight—her green outfit blending perfectly with the park's flora, her sharp yet gentle eyes scanning the flowers with concentration.

Noah approached cautiously, trying to act casual.

"Uh… hey," he said.

Pamela looked up, a small smile forming on her lips. "Noah. I didn't expect to see you so soon."

"I… work's flexible," he replied, trying to keep his voice light. "And I figured you might be… busy."

She chuckled softly, standing up. "I'm never too busy to check on the park. But you… you seem tense. Everything okay?"

Noah rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah… just, you know… work stuff. IT emergencies, hackers… Gotham is weird."

Pamela's eyebrows rose, playful. "Hackers, huh? Sounds dangerous."

"No, no, mostly boring," Noah said quickly. "Except… maybe yesterday wasn't so boring."

Pamela tilted her head slightly, her smile teasing. "Oh? Do tell."

He laughed awkwardly, scratching his head. "It's kind of a long story… about my first day of work, and a hacker that somehow knew my name before I even knew theirs."

Pamela's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Sounds like Gotham already has a crush on you."

Noah choked back a laugh. "Ha… yeah, maybe."

They walked slowly along the path lined with trees and flowers, their steps echoing lightly in the quiet park. The tension in Noah's shoulders eased slightly. There was something about being near her that made the world feel a little less chaotic.

Pamela pointed at a small patch of wildflowers. "See this? People often overlook them. But they're strong, adaptable… they survive even in the worst conditions."

Noah glanced at the flowers, then at her. "Kind of like people in Gotham, huh?"

She smiled faintly. "Exactly. And sometimes, people need a little help noticing what's beautiful… even in chaos."

Noah's heart thumped slightly faster than normal. He cleared his throat. "I… uh… I think I get that. I mean… you always seem to notice the right things."

Pamela's small smile grew, and she stepped a little closer. "And sometimes, it helps to have the right company to walk with."

Noah's mind raced. He wanted to say something witty, something that would ease the tension, but all that came out was:

"Yeah… company's nice."

Pamela tilted her head again, almost like she was reading him. "Noah… I have an idea. Dinner? Tonight. Somewhere quiet, where you don't have to think about hackers or IT emergencies."

Noah's chest tightened. A date… with Pamela. And not just any date, but something quiet, something normal. He smiled, trying to hide the rapid thump of his heart.

"I… yeah. I'd like that," he said, his voice slightly firmer than before.

Pamela nodded, her expression softening. "Good. I'll send you the details. Be ready. And… Noah?"

"Yeah?"

"Don't be late."

Noah chuckled nervously. "Wouldn't dream of it."

After she left, Noah stood alone in the park for a moment, exhaling slowly. His stomach twisted with nerves—and excitement. This was Gotham. This was danger. And yet… he felt something warm, something normal.

For the first time in weeks, he realized he wasn't just surviving.

He was… starting to live.

And maybe, just maybe, there was room for a little romance in this chaotic city.

Noah walked back toward the office, a small grin playing on his lips. He glanced at his phone, already imagining the message with the dinner location.

"Gotham," he muttered, "you're weird… but I think I'm starting to like you."

Somewhere in the shadows, eyes watched. Silent. Calculating. But for once, Noah didn't feel fear. Not entirely. Because tonight… tonight, he had something to look forward to.
