Psychic Power and Yanhuang Exposed — Father's Absolute Shock**
The moment the system notification rang out, Ethan froze.
He hadn't expected that a casual conversation with his father would suddenly trigger a Golden Opportunity.
But judging from the terrifying cold seeping out of the Poké Ball on the desk, one thing was certain—
The Pokémon inside was no ordinary existence.
Still, Ethan didn't immediately accept it.
Instead, he looked up at his father and asked softly,
"Dad… who is this senior?"
Victor Stone took a deep breath before replying.
"Do you know the Polar Zenith Glacier?"
"This senior is its ruler—the Ice Lord."
"A Totem late-stage Mamoswine."
Ethan's pupils shrank.
Ice Lord?
Totem late-stage?!
To be honest, Ethan had assumed the Pokémon inside the ball was at most Champion-tier.
After all, even though his father was a Champion himself, Totem-level beings weren't something you could just command through reputation alone.
And more importantly—
This Poké Ball was marked as his Golden Opportunity.
Up until now, nearly all of Ethan's opportunities involved Pokémon he raised from a young age.
Yanhuang and Mo Yan Jr. were already exceptions.
So by instinct, Ethan had assumed this one wouldn't be too strong.
Yet now—
Not only was it Totem-tier, it was the Ice Lord itself.
And somehow… still his Golden Opportunity.
That was borderline absurd.
Could it be… like Yanhuang again?
Could he really recruit a second Totem-level existence?
Suppressing his shock, Ethan finally reached out and took the Poké Ball.
Cold air spilled outward—but in his hand, it felt merely cool, not freezing.
As expected, no new system notification appeared.
"Just as I thought," Ethan mused silently.
"Getting this Golden Opportunity won't be that easy."
"But that's fine."
"If it's mine, it won't escape."
With time, Ethan was confident the Ice Lord would eventually acknowledge him.
After all, aside from Swampert and Gliscor—who he had technically intercepted from others—
Everything destined for him had always come willingly.
Ethan walked toward the window and released the Poké Ball.
Boom—!
The ground shook violently.
A massive figure appeared—
Four meters tall.
Twin tusks nearly three meters long.
An overwhelming presence that dropped the surrounding temperature by more than ten degrees instantly.
Mamoswine.
Ice + Ground type.
A Pokémon so rare it no longer existed in modern habitats.
Only ancient-lineage Piloswine had the faint chance of evolving into one.
And every Mamoswine that succeeded…
Was a regional tyrant.
Ethan inhaled slowly and greeted it with a smile.
"Hello, Ice Lord."
"My name is Ethan."
"During the Heavenly King Tournament, I'll be relying on you."
Mamoswine didn't respond immediately.
Its sharp eyes scanned Ethan from head to toe.
After a moment, it let out a low rumble.
"Mmrrr."
A sign of acknowledgment.
Victor Stone immediately straightened, his expression respectful.
"Ice Lord, for the coming period…"
"My son will be in your care."
Mamoswine nodded once, then turned and lumbered into the garden, choosing a quiet corner to lie down and rest.
Victor finally relaxed and smiled.
"Don't let his cold demeanor fool you."
"He's actually very warm-hearted."
That wasn't flattery.
If Mamoswine weren't kind by nature, it never would've agreed to act as Ethan's bodyguard.
Even with an agreement in place, the Ice Lord was clearly giving more than he received.
Once the formalities were over, Victor began explaining the Heavenly King Tournament in detail.
"This tournament is hosted by the Sky Eagle Alliance."
"In the past, battles were always held within the host alliance's territory."
"But this time…"
He frowned.
"The location is Antarctica."
Ethan blinked.
"…Antarctica?"
"That frozen wasteland?"
"How are they supposed to hold battles there?"
Victor shook his head.
"That's exactly what worries me."
"They personally sent you the invitation."
"And you haven't forgotten—"
"The previous Sky Eagle Heavenly King, Alicia, was one of the masterminds behind the assassination attempt at the White Elephant Alliance exchange."
"That's why I asked the Ice Lord to protect you."
Victor's voice was calm, but the concern beneath it was unmistakable.
Ethan didn't speak.
He stepped forward and hugged his father.
Despite Ethan's tall, broad frame, Victor—thin and short from years of hardship—looked almost fragile in comparison.
But Ethan didn't care.
"Dad," he said softly,
"Don't worry."
"This tournament—I'll be fine."
"And not only that…"
"I'll make sure the Donghuang Alliance's name echoes across the world."
Victor chuckled, eyes warm.
"I don't need you to shake the world."
"Just come back safe."
"Your mother and I are still waiting for grandchildren."
Ethan laughed.
"I'm still young, Dad."
"But safety?"
"You really don't need to worry."
As he spoke, Ethan's eyes sharpened.
In an instant—
A terrifying psychic wave burst forth.
Victor felt his body lift off the ground.
"…?!"
Before he could react, he was gently set back down.
Then Ethan stopped holding back.
Boom—!
King-tier psychic power erupted.
Books, tables, chairs, and teacups floated into the air.
Even the tea itself hovered, suspended mid-air.
Moments later—
Everything returned perfectly to its original place.
Not a single drop spilled.
Victor stood frozen.
"…Ethan, you—"
Ethan scratched his head and grinned.
"Dad, I'll be honest."
"I'm a psychic now."
"Even without Pokémon…"
"A Heavenly King Pokémon couldn't kill me quickly."
Victor staggered.
If not for Ethan catching him with psychic power, he would've fallen flat.
Psychic.
And not weak psychic power.
Victor knew psychics.
He knew Wang Yuan, Zhao Yu's mentor—whose psychic strength was only Dominator-tier.
Even then, Wang Yuan could merely defend against Dominator Pokémon for a short time.
But Ethan?
He was talking about resisting Heavenly King-tier attacks.
That meant—
Ethan's psychic power was already Heavenly King-tier.
Victor's worldview shattered.
After calming himself, Victor asked hoarsely,
"How did you even become a psychic?"
"Weren't psychics supposed to be born that way?"
Ethan smiled.
"I only learned it recently."
"Dad, remember when I went to the Thorny Forest earlier this year?"
"There's a sanctuary inside."
"It was built by Celebi, the guardian of that forest."
"I met her there."
"She blessed me."
"And for some reason…"
"That blessing mutated."
"Instead of healing powers…"
"I awakened psychic power."
Victor was speechless.
Meeting Celebi alone was already unbelievable.
But thinking about Ethan's team—Metagross, Entei, Meloetta—
It somehow… made sense.
"And that senior who taught me Heaven–Earth Metamorphosis?"
"He's from that sanctuary too."
"He's with me now."
Ethan tossed Yanhuang's Poké Ball into the garden.
Light flared.
Yanhuang appeared.
The moment he did, Mamoswine snapped awake, instinctively rising to its feet.
"Ho?"
Yanhuang glanced over, amused.
"A Totem late-stage Mamoswine?"
"That's rare."
"I thought your kind had gone extinct."
"Master, is this your new partner?"
Yanhuang's human speech instantly stunned both Victor and Mamoswine.
Ethan smiled.
"Dad, this is Yanhuang."
"A God-tier existence."
"With him around, nothing will happen to me."
Victor's mind went completely blank.
"…God-tier?"
(⊙_⊙)?
Real… or not?
