In their gargantual castle filled with constant blinding white light, the High Marquis had his throne high in the air, holding by a straight like coming from way back, where the light shines the most. Some of the Cardinal Sins were going left and right, from one activity to another.
Their many doors led to their bedroom or else, but as of now, they were waiting patiently for someone to drop a new human for them to play with. Ashnael and Cassius come back from the forest laughing.
"And then I said, get this, "I want to be a woman." Haha haha. That's too much, I can't! Murder, in its' simplest form, is to send someone to eternal death with an idea that is absolutely false. This, is the real murder. You kill the soul before you send it to the void by pure treachery. He's dead and gone, and now they are seeing his body as we speak. It's easy. You see, it's easy. My Cardinal Sin is the best, it doesn't require any special tricks, all I have to do is to destroy those I see."
"I'm proud of you, Ashnael."
"Thank you, Marquis. Any sign of the others?"
"Amphelise was sent. It is merely a matter of time, but the myriad of moments they muster to manage an escape."
"As usual. Cassius, let's just sit and wait. I was wondering, also. What about the others?"
"The other Cardinal Sins shall make an appearence when the time has come, hence their inexistence at the moment."
"I don't hate that he talks like that, I hate that it works. Anyway. They're gone. They'll see how she fights, what she does to her victims, and they'll drop the act and start living like everybody else. They will realize that most of the humans here know about us, but choose to remain silent."
"I'm excited that we have some new friends!" Cassius barged in.
"I will introduce them when the time is right. Don't spoil the surprise."
"Of course not, High Marquis."
"Ne laisse pas ton impatience te guider, Cassius. Ils viendront et nous seront au complet."
The High Marquis had long, puffy green hair and green and white clothes. He seemed to look almost like a child from afar, but from so far away, who could make up of what he is. He was the oldest of his kind, the oldest of his family and as such, traditions were his entire life, as merit is due when actions are made.
They all show respect and devotion to his kind, to his person and obey all orders. They also hold dear to another piece of history, what they call the GrimWar, or Grimoire. A book that discloses the secrets of this world and more importantly the reasons for each Cardinal Sin to exist.
"High Marquis, you know by now, but the irrational fear of losing my connection to you truly sets my soul on fire. I would tell you about it in excruciating details, but it would still not come close to how I feel. Because I feel gratitude! I am grateful for all I was given! I feel truly compelled to live this life with you and all my brothers and sisters here. Obviously my heart trembles. Should you know, the Suffered who arrived at Perseus recently are tough ones, they used to be in the army of Cressenie, in the Lifeline. They will find their way to you."
"You have no faith in your companion."
"I do have faith, but I'm also realistic."
"Their weapons were left in the world of Efalis, they cannot hurt us. Even bullets wouldn't kill us."
Some time later, the entire group reached a point in the forest where everything looks the same and the trees seem to multiply each second, and each step you take expands the forest a little more. Ariane screams when some nettles stab her arm, but nothing truly happened, so she apologized for the sudden noise. Genova claimed she could sense every person's bloodflow and breathing. Ismael added to Karin's speech the entirety of his personal opinions on them, what they were able to do in Cressenie and so on. But a shadow between the trees moves silently and in this black and green painting they were moving in, they all cease and watch. Gloria takes the first step
"Ismael you said I was a great diplomate, right? Let me talk. Hey, whoever you are! Show yourself so we can talk!"
The shadow presented itself, and as dark as it was, they could still make up of her body structure and weapons given the barely visible silhouette.
"Okay I tried, that's the best I could do."
"Thanks, Gloria. I'll take it from here."
"We've all faced incredible forces of nature, no way any of us is dying against this thing, as weird as it might be. We have no guns and no force power but Karin has the Ether and Genova has muscle memory. As for me, my angel eyes will...wait...I don't..."
"Everybody retreat!"
The group frightens and steps back.
"Ismael, what's with you?"
"I think it's safe to say this thing is not human, but this is the complete opposite. I wish I could explain what I'm looking at right now, but it's so detached from reality it's borderline physically painful. Karin, what do you see?"
Karin steps back to the front, next to him, holding on to him as blood drips from his eyes.
"Oh, that is...disgusting. An amalgamation of multiple raw sinister rites seem to have been forcefully inscribed in her body's dna. This is revolting. I can almost feel it."
"They know that we're against them. We're facing an evil that cannot be comprehended. That is too much for us, I don't know how to respond to it. Ismael, she's moving!"
A chain with an axe built at the end of it went in between some of the kids and pierced right through one of them. Terrified, they turned, slowly, to witness Ariane with a hole in her left lung. The chain reverted back to the assaillant as fast as it launched, bringing the victim straight to her hands. She used the axe shape to hold the chain around her feet and mouth so she could hold her in one hand like a briefcase. Ariane's bleeding body was hanging at the right side of the killer.
"I'll take this one. If you wish to bring her back, come to the castle. Only if you are looking for the castle will you find it. And don't bother telling a "trusted adult". They all know."
