The words hung in the air between them, and Kai didn't let them sit there for long. He hushed him gently, pressing a kiss to one side of his face and then the other, before finally, briefly, catching his lips.

We'll work with Uri and Eunos, and even my dad might have some ideas, he works for the Treasury after all, it's pretty close to the Temple so he can keep an eye on the guard shifts or something. I'm not doing this on my own and I won't hide anything, I promise. But I'm not going to do nothing."
He took Rami's face in both hands, and for a moment something quiet and overwhelming moved through him - the sense that he was holding his entire world between his fingertips.
