"Mr. Alexander is still in a coma," the doctor said, his tone flat yet heavy. "His current condition is entirely dependent on machines. We are still monitoring him very intensively in the critical care unit."
Celine blinked her stinging eyes, trying to process the words through the throbbing in her head. "What do you mean, Doctor? Leo survived, didn't he? He passed the danger zone and he's going to be fine, right?" she asked, her voice rising an octave in panic.
The doctor did not answer immediately. He took a long breath, letting a momentary silence envelop the cold corridor. "Mr. Alexander is still in very critical condition, miss. There is severe damage to his vital organs. If the next twenty four hours do not pass successfully," the doctor abruptly cut himself off as he saw Celine's lips begin to tremble violently and her face lose what little color it had left.
