Chapter 47 - Choi Jong-In, the Wingman

At this moment, Min-Jun was glad that he had learned about psychology, since when he saw the irrational actions of many, instead of feeling confused or getting emotional, he understood why they did all of those irrational acts, and he also knew how to handle them, including Cho Jong-In's actions, which were aimed at making a lot of money.

But what about Cha Hae-In?

Frankly, Min-Jun also knew, despite how he didn't want to, but in simple terms, he had become Hae-In's sanctuary.

Originally, Hae-In was able to fall in love with Sung Jin-Woo despite not meeting him much because of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

According to Maslow, humans cannot focus on higher-level emotions (like love, belonging, or self-actualization) if their basic physiological and safety needs are not met.

Because of her condition, Cha Hae-In's basic need for a comfortable, breathable environment was constantly under attack. This forced her into social isolation.

Jin-Woo's scent cleared that foundational barrier because her brain wasn't panicking about the smell around him, and her psychological defenses were lower. For the first time in years, she had the mental bandwidth to look at a man and evaluate him as a person, rather than a sensory threat.

Still, the scent was simply the key that unlocked the door. It made her lower her guard and view him as a "haven." Once she was inside that haven, his actions, strength, and quiet kindness laid the foundation of her love.

Yet, that role was taken by Kim Min-Jun, who happened to be swayed by Jong-In's offers, and he didn't regret it, since when he arrived, Jong-In directly gave him everything he needed to become a first-rate S-Rank Archer Hunter.

"As I have told you before, I have several gifts for you, and the first gift is this!"

Choi Jong-In appeared to be very proud as he gave Min-Jun the first gift when Min-Jun decided to join the Hunters Guild.

"This is...?"

"The Logic Arc."

That it was kept in a special box from the Guild's highest-security vault showed how special it was. It didn't look like a traditional bow. It was a sleek, floating construct made of white gold and mana crystals. It had no strings.

"It has a mana conversion engine. You don't have to pull a string. You look at a target and channel mana. The bow instantly generates a pure energy arrow."

"...." Min-Jun.

"Moreover, it calculates wind resistance and gravity automatically. You need to point. Perfect for a busy student, right? Try to carry it."

"Okay."

If Min-Jun had a system that allowed him to access an unlimited number of the sacred weapons, then he wouldn't be surprised, but as he didn't have it, he knew well how precious this bow was.

It was weightless.

He felt that it had no weight, and as he looked at it, the bow suddenly shrank into a ring on his finger.

"Convenience, right? You can use it at any moment, and no one will think that you carry a weapon."

"Thank you, Guild Master."

"No problem, but it's too early if you are going to be happy with this, since the next one is this!

"The Void-Weave Suit!"

Choi Jong-In hated bulky armor. He wore a suit, and naturally, he expected his elite members to look professional. It looked exactly like a high-end, tailored university blazer in navy blue.

"It is made from the silk of an Arachne Queen, the S-Rank Dungeon Boss. It is softer than silk but harder than Kevlar. It can stop a bite from a Drake. It also has a self-cleaning system that repels dirt, blood, and sweat. In other words, you never have to dry-clean it. It also has Stats: +20% Intelligence. It helps you study faster when you wear it to class."

"...." Min-Jun.

"Ah, right, there is more!"

"...there is more?"

Once again, if Min-Jun didn't have the system, or the Manager, he wouldn't be surprised, but since he didn't have the system, and he had used his Manager to analyze the value of those gifts, he had to admit that Jong-In was extremely generous.

"Of course, this is one of the most important items for you, The Analyst's Spectacles" B-Rank Detection."

"...what is the function?"

After all, besides a good-looking, brand-name pair of rimless, intelligent-looking glasses, it didn't appear special at all.

No, Min-Jun knew the system had a function with analysis capabilities, but since he didn't want to explain his ability, it was better to be quiet.

"It's good that you ask." Choi pushed the frame of his glasses, seemingly happy to be asked this question again and again, or rather, it fed his ego to have someone ask him about his wealth. "First, it has a Heads-Up Display (HUD) that projects mana levels, enemy health, and dungeon maps directly onto the lens. It filters out "mental pollution" (fear/horror) from Boss Monsters, keeping you calm. Lastly, when you push them up the bridge of your nose, they flash white."

"...the first and second aside, what's the point of the last one?"

"It will make you cooler. You know? Like an anime hero."

"..." Min-Jun and Cha Hae-In.

"Anyway, how about you change into your equipment first, and let me see."

"Okay." Min-Jun left and took the equipment to change, but as he left, Hae-In quickly smelled the putrid, disgusting smell again in her surroundings, which made her cover her nose with a frown.

As expected, without him, it wasn't good, but she couldn't follow him to the changing room, especially as they had just gotten to know each other.

However, Hae-In wanted to get close; having to be by his side made her relaxed and saved her from this world that made her smell a foul stench.

Even Choi Jong-In wasn't an exception, especially since he was an S-Rank Hunter, which made his smell despite all of his money simply unbearable.

Fortunately, among all the S-Rank Hunters, Jong-In was the weakest, so compared to the others, Jong-In's smell was the best.

"..." Jong-In.

Still, even if Jong-In knew about Hae-In's view of him, it didn't matter, as he was more into the profit instead of a "waifu."

"Vice President, what do you think of Minjun-nim?"

"Min-jun?" Hae-In was startled by the sudden question, but in a daze, she said, "I... I... it feels so comforting and relaxing by his side."

Why did she say this?

Because this was what she was truly thinking, and at the same time, while Jong-In was shallow, she knew that this guy would do the best for those whom he considered as treasure and precious, and as expected—

"I see. That's great." Jong-In nodded with a happy smile. "I will give him a penthouse in Gwanak-gu, which happens to be your neighbor. If you don't mind, can you teach him many things about a career known as a Hunter?"

"...." Hae-In.

"What do you think of this proposal, Vice President?" Jong-In pushed up the frame of his glasses as he asked with a gentle smile

"Ah, yes! Let me help him!"

Cha Hae-In didn't hesitate for a second.

"Good, when he walks out, I will tell him that I have bought a penthouse for—"

"The suit fits well."

"Yes, it has the automatic adjustment size, which can help the suit to fit—"

Jong-In and Hae-In stared at Min-Jun, who had put on his navy blazer and all of his equipment, in a daze, as they had to admit that he was so handsome.

No, Min-Jun wasn't the most handsome. Still, as he took care of himself and also had the "Manager," which somehow optimized his appearance by manipulating his biology from the inside, he had become even more good-looking.

Still, Jong-In made a mental calculation, watching Min-Jun's handsome face and combined with Hae-In's beautiful appearance, thinking of the combination of the two, and also then the stock value of his company, had made his determination to be as firm as the concrete foundation of the headquaters of his guild.

"That's right. I bought you the penthouse in the Gwanak-gu, but it is still under renovation, so if you don't mind, could you stay at the Vice President's place, Kim Mingjun-nim?"

"Eh?!"

Cha Hae-In was startled, then looked at Jong-In in shock, yet inwardly, she didn't hate it at all.

However—

"I am sorry. Can I stay at my old apartment?"

"..." 2x

"Eh?" 2x
