Chapter 67 - The Zenin Capital

The courtyard is dead silent.

The traditionalists, like Naoya, Ogi, and all the others, especially the Hei Units, were all pale, realizing their entire religion had been taken away by something vulgar that they loved, yet could only say to hate outwardly—money.

But the Kukuru unit, the servants, and the outcasts were staring at the employment contracts in their hands. For the first time in their lives, they held proof of their actual, quantifiable worth.

All of the traditions and everything else that had lasted for millennia were wiped away by capitalism.

Still, while Suzuki gave them a salary and all other things to make their lives comfortable, he expected their absolute loyalty, since if not, he would wipe them out, since the rules of the Jujutsu Sorcery society were clear.

The strongest decided everything, and the weak could only give up.

So, as Suzuki won, he could do whatever he wanted, yet. At the same time, he could get the majority of the Zenin Clan members with money, which was the number one source of the problem among all the Jujutsu Sorcery, since if those sorcerers had money, would they do dangerous work?

No, right?

Yet, there was a huge problem.

"Where are you going to get the money?! You are going to bankrupt this family!"

When Suzuki finished his talk and told them to gather again tomorrow at eight in the morning sharp, Naobito quickly pressed him, as he knew well that despite Suzuki's amazing move, there was a huge problem that needed to be solved, and that was—

"Father, how much liquid cash does our family have?"

"No, I won't give it to you!" Naobito refused without hesitation. "If I give you all the money, it will disappear tomorrow! We might be a wealthy family, but we're not a cash-rich family!"

The Zenin Clan might be one of the strongest Clans, and it had lasted for a millennium, but it was different from a bank or wealthy companies that had a lot of liquid cash in their accounts. Instead of cash, their wealth came from real estate and armory.

Yes, the Zenin Clan has been accumulating wealth for over a thousand years, but that wealth is in the shape of a collection of Special Grade and Grade 1 Cursed Tools and massive tracts of secret, barrier-protected land across Japan.

There might be some cash, but it wasn't a lot, as mostly, the income that came from the Zenin Clan, was taken to take care of the house, the daily needs of the entire clan, various other things, and also some of the percentages of money to the Elders, who were a group of officials managing the Jujutsu world with absolute, traditional authority in this country.

Why did they have to give their money to the Elders?

If there was a reason, it would be convenience, as managing a large clan like the Zenin Clan was difficult.

Naobito, being lazy as he was, just wanted to spend his days drinking alcohol, ignoring the rest. As for other matters, he didn't care since, as the strongest and the clan head, he could get almost anything, and naturally, he got most of the money, too. He was the clan head, after all. He was different from the rest of the members, who were at the bottom, who had hardly any income, and all he had to do was keep everyone alive with the bare minimum, like how enslavers kept their slaves in the past.

Yet Suzuki was a capitalist, so, of course, he wanted his members to be full of energy, thinking that as long as they worked hard, they could earn more. No one expected that, as they worked harder, he would earn more money.

Still, he knew that in this society, especially in the Jujutsu society, everything was bound by traditional thinking and was impossible to change.

No, no one was thinking of changing at all; they just accepted the status quo that was given to them, and their ways to bring the change were nothing but abstract and brutal methods, which were practically useless; different from him, which was practical.

Yet, Naobito couldn't understand that, since for him, it was impossible to spend money on those members of his family whom he had always thought of as enslaved people.

Compared to others, Naobito might not be as cruel and could even accept change, since his technique, the Sorcery Projection, wasn't a traditional one either.

24FPS.

Was there such a technique in ancient Japan?

The concept of frame rate emerged with the invention of motion pictures in the late 1800s and early 1900s, but the term itself did not appear until modern times.

So, without a doubt, Naobito could accept the change, as his technique came from modern development rather than an ancient tradition. Yet his vision was too small, and because of that, his son, Suzuki, thought to educate Naobito.

"Mai, give me my laptop."

"Huh?"

While Mai wasn't sure what Suzuki wanted to do, she gave him his laptop.

"Watch me."

"...." Naobito, Mai, and Maki.

"...what is he going to do?" Naobito looked at the two cautiously.

"We don't know." 2x

Maki and Maki didn't know, because they didn't think they were smart enough to understand what Suzuki planned to do.

Yet Suzuki didn't wait for their understanding; he opened his Forex (Foreign Exchange) account and began his High-Frequency Trading (HFT) session.

"...what are you going to do?"

"Trading."

"I understand that, but why?!"

"Watch me, okay? Do you think I have only developed the Projection Sorcery for fighting?"

"Eh?"

His capital was about 10 million Yen (approx. $ 62,709 USD), which was his entire savings.

Was it a lot?

Naturally, as he worked hard during his active time as the Jujutsu Sorcerer, which was also a time when he hated the Elders the most, since he knew that while the others didn't realize it, those Elders were like a leech that drained so much of his income by telling him that it was necessary.

When he thought about how much he had worked, yet in the end, almost half of his income was taken away by the Elders, just for the necessities, how could he accept it, right?

It was also because of that that he developed this technique, so that he could beat the shit out of the Elders by their own game!

"Do you know why Elders are so powerful in the eyes of many?"

"...what?"

"Because they have money."

By using the leverage system of FOREX, he turned his $65k into buying power of $6.5 Million.

It might be strange for those who didn't understand, but in FOREX, it was allowed for one to do a trade several times or even a hundred times of their capital, even though they didn't have the capital.

By using 1:100 leverage, he turned his 10 million yen into 1 billion yen!

And, with 1 Yenlion yen in ammunition in his account, what would he do?

The three became confused, yet remained quiet as they watched the balance in his account continue to increase, reaching ~$11,000,000 USD (Approx. 1.6 Billion Yen) from his previous $65k—all of them were breathless.

"So, how much liquid assets do we have again, Father?"

"Wait a moment, let me give you everything!"

At this moment, Naobito gave his greatest bow to the new clan head of the Zenin Clan.
