"It's a Snakeling!" Mira announced, her voice ringing with joy. "A Beautiful, Healthy Snakeling!"
The tiny creature in her hands was no longer than her forearm—serpentine body covered in miniature emerald scales that gleamed wetly in the bioluminescent light, a perfect tiny replica of Naga in serpent form. The snakeling's mouth opened in a silent cry, revealing no teeth yet, just pink gums and a delicate forked tongue that flickered uncertainly.
"Naga," Alex gasped, reaching for the baby with shaking hands.
Mira placed the snakeling carefully against Alex's chest.
The tiny serpent immediately coiled there, instinctively seeking warmth, its scales cool and smooth against Alex's skin. The small head lifted, eyes still closed, mouth opening and closing as it searched for food.
"First one down," Mira said, already refocusing on Alex. "Five more to go. How do you feel?"
