_Emily's POV_
I glanced at Peter even though it was hard and I saw him with a surprised expression. His mouth was wide open as he said something unbelievable.
"The captain is dead."
It took some time to process that news because how could he have died when he just finished talking with Peter? There was no evidence to know what killed him, but everyone knew it had to be something related to the Gatekeeper.
The death of the captain was tough to take in, because no one knew how he died. That just struck fear in our heart and with the few minutes of air we have, it was safe to say that we are as good as died.
'What can we do?' I asked myself that question.
Suddenly, I heard a grunt noise coming from my side. The voice of someone who was struggling to do something. I knew it was Peter, but why was he still struggling when we all knew that we were dead.
He continued to drag himself forward albeit at a slower pace towards the control panel, while he kept on mumbling something.
"30...29...28...27..."
He was like someone who refuses to die easily, someone who refuses to give up. That was something I knew about him, he refuses to give up even if the odd were not on his side.
For the others, I am sure they thought it was futile endeavor. Since we will die one way or the other either by lack of air or through the hands of the sea goddess.
Peter kept on moving forward not caring about what we thought while he kept on saying something.
"18...17...16...15..."
You could see the determination in his eyes, someone who won't rest until he accomplish his goal. Finally, he got to the control panel, but that where another problem began.
'What is he doing? Press the autopilot!' I screamed in my mind until I came to one conclusion.
The conclusion was that he didn't know which button was the autopilot.
"The green one!" I shouted with all the energy I could muster.
I wasn't sure if he heard me, but fortunately he picked the green one.
"Autopilot enable," the sub's system said.
Nobody knew what happened, but in that few seconds the sub moved, the sound waves was cancelled out.
"Who dares do that to me?!"
Her voice echoed throughout the ocean, displaying the anger, rage she felt. The whole current changed, sea tornadoes began to appear on the sea floor, numerous of them. And the worst of all, lightning started flashing, striking any unfortunate soul.
It was no ordinary lightning, the lightning was blue in colour. Wherever it struck, it left destruction in it's wake. Countless area in the sea were destroyed showing the lava in it. The lava spew out, even if it was later cooled by the ocean's water. The temperature of the sea began to rise rapidly.
The tornado covered about 2km radius, surrounding both us and the Kraken. The sea floor from its peaceful state was unfortunately changed into something devastating.
This showed us the difference in great power between her and the Kraken. If she and the Kraken where to battle, the Kraken would have died before it make its first move.
"A world-class monster."
That echoed in my mind as I stared at the state of the sea. But, there was one thought that surface in my mind.
'If she is a world-class monster, then who put her in this place.'
The realization was mind-blowing, for someone to keep her in this place that person had to be stronger than her. That was the type of person you won't want to anger because that person could kill you with just a thought.
The realization made an old memory of mine resurface.

About thirteen years ago, when I was nine years old. I was walking in the park when a small earthworm pique my interest. The earthworm was trying to dig into the ground to escape from the sun, but it was attacked by a group of ants. The ants attacked the earthworm several times until it died.
They began cutting it into several small pieces and picked it, carrying it towards their nest, but they were eaten by a lizard. And that lizard was eaten by a snake, who was then captured by an eagle, taking it towards it nest.
"Do you believe in the existence of gods?" someone suddenly said.
I flinched, regaining my composure, I nodded.
"gods are believe to be at the top of the world, a being who so powerful that it could erase this entire world with just a finger," he added.
I glanced at the man, taking note of his features. He had a dishelved hair which was brown in colour, and a sleep deprived face. His eyes were swollen and he had dark under eye circles. His skin was as pale as a corpse. His appearance was not quite attractive, but he had a cheerful demeanor.
"As you can see, this is the food chain. It started with the earthworm and ended with the eagle. Based on this, the definition of godhood would be someone who is at the apex, someone who is strong and perfect. Yes, the gods are being who is powerful, but would they still be gods if someone is above them like another entity?" he smiled as he explained.
At that time I didn't understand him, I just nodded and pretended that I understood.

'gods are beings who are at the apex, could the person that put her here be a god?'
That question didn't have an answer yet, but with time the truth would be revealed.
The submarine autopilot was engaged and it began to move towards the entrance, maneuvering the tornadoes and lightning.
The Kraken along with the two smaller monsters were also trapped here. Scylla's eyes flashed through the surroundings until it eventually landed on the Kraken.
I am sure the Kraken was petrified as it didn't move an inch.
"There you are," She flashed a devilish smile towards the Kraken.
Her attention was on the Kraken, ignoring us as we made a breakthrough towards the entrance.
"That was close."
Our second obstacle showed us how tiny and insignificant we were as we suffered our first causality.
"I hope it's gonna be easy from now on."
The sub continued moving, leaving the chaos behind. We were battered, bruised, but alive. For now.
As I looked around, I saw Peter slumped against the control panel, his chest heaving with exertion. He'd saved us. For the moment.
But at what cost?
The darkness outside seemed to press in, full of unknowns. We'd escaped one danger, only to face another: the unknown depths.
