Chapter 17 - It's a Date

I smacked myself hard on the face to stop the smiling because it was starting to annoy me. I didn't even know this dude.

I grabbed my phone from the bed—where it had fallen while I was smiling like an idiot—and unlocked it.

You share a phone with Jonathan huh 😏

I sent it, then dropped the phone back down carelessly just like before.

I started getting ready for bed, pulling off my crop top, then my skirt. I was officially done with today.

I spotted a towel nearby and wrapped it around myself.

Beep.

I froze slightly.

My phone again.

I picked it up.

Apparently, while I wasn't looking, he had taken my phone and sent you the message. And luckily, he didn't exit the chat so when I opened my phone I saw it and decided to apologize.

Damn.

This is really long. Doesn't he understand sarcasm?

I wasn't being for real. I was just joking 🙄🤦

I hit send and tossed the phone aside again, continuing with my shoe like I wasn't about to be disturbed.

One shoe off.

Then—

Beep.

I sighed.

Okay now this was getting annoying.

I don't know if it's just me, but I really like when I send a message and the person on the other end takes a long time to reply. I don't know why but it makes me happy.

I even tell Raymond this. Because every time I chat with that psycho, he responds too fast. Like too fast. Sometimes it feels like he's waiting for me.

But this? This was different.

Did he not have anything doing?

My phone lit up again as if reminding me about his message that read:

I know. By the way, have you gotten home, and have you handled the urgent issue?

Hmmmm.

He really holds on to details.

If it were me, I would've forgotten halfway through all these typing.

I stared at the message for a second longer than I should have.

Then I typed slowly.

Yes, I've gotten to the hotel and I also handled the issue. It was just a classic hotel mix-up.

I hit send.

His response came in almost immediately. So fast that for a second I thought it had come in before I even pressed send. Then I opened the message

Ohhh that's good. Would you be down tomorrow for a hangout? Just me and you, no friend group

I paused.

Slowly, I stared at the screen like it might change if I looked at it long enough.

A hangout?

I read it again.

Then my brain finally caught up.

Wait—

Was he asking me out on a date??

"You mean like a date??"

I hit send and immediately looked away from the screen like I was scared of whatever was coming back—not that I didn't already know.

His message came in.

And even though I was pretending not to care, I rushed to open it.

If you prefer to call it that then yes, a date. After all, you came to Vegas on vacation, so I thought you might want to explore the city. We can use it as a chance to get to know each other one on one. So what do you say?

I stared at the screen.

I couldn't quite understand what I was feeling.

I was scared… but excited at the same time.

And he was right. I did want to explore every nook and cranny of Vegas.

So I typed quickly and sent it.

Yes it's a date

I froze immediately after hitting send.

Wait.

I shouldn't have typed it like that. That sounded so… cheesy.

"It's a date?"

Ugh.

But it was already too late.

And considering how fast he responds… he must have already seen it.
