Chapter 23 - Spectator

Stonecliff Mountain,

Aisha's face was pale. The wind swept through her black hair as she stood in a daze, her body drenched in sweat. She remained beside Mausa's corpse, still guarding it. All her comrades had already fallen.

Taiyor stood beside her, his face equally pale. His black hair veiled his eyes as he lowered his head toward the corpse on the ground. Sweat dripped from his body as he gripped his scythe tightly.

Two of Lancelot's clones stood before them, while a third remained atop a tree, silently observing the battlefield.

The two clones suddenly sprinted forward, heading straight for Aisha, who stood behind Taiyor.

They passed him.

One of the clones hurled lightning shaped like a sword.

Aisha instinctively retreated five steps, narrowly dodging the attack.

At that moment, with Aisha forced away from Mausa's corpse, the second clone seized the opportunity. It grabbed the corpse and fled in Lancelot's direction.

Aisha's eyes widened, almost bursting from their sockets.

She screamed and turned toward Taiyor, whose head was still lowered. She tried to speak, but her mouth opened and closed without sound.

...

The third clone, watching from the tree, came to a realization.

It seems his Feral Soul or Spirit Core possesses a defensive ability that activates automatically upon sensing danger.

The clone laughed inwardly.

Dragon Phantom.

Aisha activated her Rank 3 Dragon Phantom Feral Soul. It took the form of a miniature, translucent dragon. As her spirit essence flowed into it, the phantom manifested above her head.

The small dragon opened its mouth and released flames, burning one of Lancelot's clones.

The fire spread toward Taiyor, but he reacted instantly. His scythe transformed into a shield, blocking the flames.

...

The sun dipped low, painting the sky in shades of gold and amber. The heat of the day faded, replaced by a gentle coolness as a quiet breeze drifted through the air.

Lancelot had already regained consciousness. He stood on elevated ground near Yoma corpse and the tree where one of his clones remained perched, watching the battlefield like a detached spectator as though none of it concerned him, as though he had merely passed by and stumbled upon the aftermath of an intense battle.

He had no intention of joining the fight.

Lancelot watched as his clone ran with Mausa's corpse, while Taiyor and Aisha pursued it.

He then began inspecting his body.

His golden hair had become rough, and faint traces of blood lingered in his eyes. His Spirit Core essence had fully recovered, and his Spirit Sea was nearly restored now at ninety percent capacity. All his Feral Souls were in stable condition, except for one: his newly refined Rank 3 Illusion Feral Soul.

One of its wings was damaged, and its rainbow light had dimmed.

Lancelot injected his snow-white spirit essence into the Illusion Feral Soul.

Its light gradually brightened once more.

At the same time, the clone carrying Mausa's corpse phased through solid rock. After ten minutes, it emerged from the ground near Lancelot's feet.

A white ring appeared on Lancelot's last finger. He removed it and handed it to the clone carrying Mausa.

The ring emitted a faint glow. In the next instant, the clone, Yoma and Mausa's corpse vanished.

...

Pride Estate,

Lancelot's clone appeared inside Lancelot's bedroom within Pride Estate. Beneath the bed lay a projector, its light shining directly onto the clone's body.

Yoma and Mausa's lay close to Lancelot's clone feet. Yoma body had been torn from the chest to the base of the ribs, leaving only the upper portion intact. Mausa's lower half was no where to be found, while the upper half bore cuts, scratches and claw mark

The room is large and rich. Behind him is a big bed with soft pillows and long curtains hanging around it. The curtains are blue with gold details. Above, a bright chandelier hangs from the ceiling, giving warm light.

To the side, there is a wooden table with books, a globe, and a orb. The walls are made of polished wood, and there is a painting hanging on one side. The floor is covered with a large patterned carpet.

Daylight comes in through a tall window, mixing with the candlelight and making the room feel warm and quiet

...

Stonecliff Mountain,

Lancelot inspected his Spirit Core and Spirit Sea.

Lancelot Spirit Sea was filled to ninety percent capacity with spirit essence. At its bottom lay the Illusion Feral Soul, which resembled a butterfly with rainbow-colored wings one of them broken. A stream of rainbow light flowed from it, extending from downstream to upstream within the Spirit Sea.

Due to the near depletion of both his Spirit Core essence and Spirit Sea essence, coupled with the Illusion Feral Soul's ability to conceal itself, Lancelot had been forced to use lightning to weaken it. This resulted in one of its wings being broken.

As for his other Feral Souls:

Rank 2 – Lightning Thought Feral Soul

It had the form of a white mosquito, larger than a scorpion. It hovered in a corner of the Spirit Sea, its body twitching slightly.

Rank 2 – Earth Vibration Feral Soul

It resembled a dark brown bee with two large ears. It lay motionless at the bottom of the Spirit Sea.

Rank 3 – Owl Eye Feral Soul

It appeared as a pink owl with burnt skin and few feathers. It possessed four eyes, each staring in a different direction, and flew slowly from one end of the Spirit Sea to the other.

Rank 3 – Thunderbolt Feral Soul

It resembled a yellow beetle wrapped in light, floating above a dark cloud at the center of the Spirit Sea.

Rank 3 – Earth Communication Feral Soul

It took the form of a red eye filled with veins and covered in dirt, remaining at the center of the Spirit Sea as it moved slowly.

...

After inspection his Spirit Sea, Lancelot began inspecting his Spirit Core.

White Lightning and Yellow Lightning (Twin Core)

It had the shape of a sphere. Inside it was a wilderness that sparked endlessly with yellow and white lightning and sometimes only yellow, sometimes only white.

Clone Core

It also had the shape of a sphere. Inside it were over a hundred miniature Lancelots, all in a dormant state.

Invisibility Core

It took the form of a sphere as well. Its interior was empty, clear, colorless, like glass filled with still air, holding no visible attributes.

Twin Cores were unique types of cores possessed only by twins. They were classified into two categories: shared and anti-shared Twin Cores.

A shared Twin Core meant both twins shared the same Spirit Core and spirit essence. This granted them a large reserve of spirit essence, unlike anti-shared Twin Cores, where each individual relied solely on their own essence. Shared Twin Cores also allowed rapid recovery and a deep connection between users. For example, a user could sense the location of their twin due to this connection, and they could communicate mentally regardless of distance.

An anti-shared Twin Core was entirely different. It possessed an opposing nature. Taking Lancelot Loid as an example—he possessed both white lightning and yellow lightning within a single Spirit Core, while Leywin Loid possessed no Spirit Core at all. It was as if the connection between the twins had been replaced with a new, independent core.

Anti-shared Twin Cores also had another advantage: they could possess multiple Spirit Cores at birth, unlike shared Twin Cores, which typically had only one.

...

Without the corpses of their comrades who possessed earth abilities, and with nothing left to protect, these foreigners won't hold back anymore…

I still have my combination moves…

Yellow and White Knight

Once I activate this move, it grants me white lightning armor and wings. However, once I am hit, the second form activates and my speed decreases, and my wings turn into a cape. This move still needs improvements. I need to fix all its drawbacks, but that will be difficult since it is a Spirit Core Combination Move that uses my Twin Lightning Core.

Inside the circular core, there is a wilderness that sparks endlessly with yellow and white lightning. Sometimes only yellow appears; the same applies to white lightning. Once I activate it, the combination move always starts with white lightning… that must be why it changes form after being hit.

One Touch

When activated, I become invisible. My speed increases. I only become visible again when I make contact with a living person. This move requires the combination of the Lightning and Invisibility Spirit Cores.

Light and Dark Men

This move creates an army of visible and invisible clones. If an invisible clone makes contact, it becomes visible. The fewer the clones, the stronger they become. This move also requires the combination of the Lightning, Clone, and Invisibility Spirit Cores.
