The sun had almost dipped below the horizon. Inside the lavish dining room, a large TV mounted on the wall was running news footage of the ongoing chaos at Mori Gate.
What had started as a simple protest with burning tyres had escalated into full-blown violence. Burning cars, stone pelting, random gunshots, and fierce clashes between protesters and police filled the screen. Tear gas and lathi charges were met with brutal retaliation.
At the end, the police had withdrawn to a safe distance while locals continued destroying public property in rage. Very often they would clash with any passersby trying to crossover.
A lady reporter spoke over the visuals, her voice tense: "The situation remains extremely tense. What started as a protest over bad roads has now turned into a full-blown gang war between local factions. Several casualties have already been reported…"
