Chapter 30 - | Lunch

And we're now eating inside the house in the dining area. It turned out that the family already prepared enough food for all of us to eat. "And he just complained throughout our walk!" said Simon, pertaining to John. All of us laughed while John glared at Simon.

"Were you all used to walking long distances?" asked the father of Akiane to all of us. "Absolutely not." answered Jaime then ate.

"Why would we even walk long distances when there's already vehicles for transportation?" asked Matthew after he swallowed the food in his mouth.

"Here's another one, Yeshua!" said Akiane as she handed another paper with her drawings to Yeshua with a smile.

"We already carry buckets of fishes every week, why would we exhaust ourselves walking long distances?" said Andrew while his mouth is still with food.

"We don't usually walk for long periods of time." answered Simon then ate again.

"As you have heard from Simon here, I complained a lot." answered John with Simon's words earlier then glared at Simon before eating again.

"How about you, dear?" asked the mother of Akiane, making me look at her and see her looking at me. "Me?" I asked back as I pointed to myself. She nodded as a response. "Uhm… I-uh… It's-it's my first time walking a long distance as well. But I use my bike as a form of transportation and I'm kinda used to biking long distances, like from our town to the city beyond the mountains."Ah, I talked too much."Why are you visiting beyond the mountains, love?" asked the mother of Akiane.

"I-uh… sometimes I visit my cousins who live in that city." I answered. "Bonding with family is a great way to have fun, yeah?" said the father of Akiane. I smiled at him and then nodded as an answer. "The food is delicious, Elizabeth!" exclaimed Andrew after finishing his plate. Oh, so that's her name!"I can tell that your wife has a talent for cooking, Mark." commented Simon then he ate another spoonful. How can I not know their names earlier?

"Can I have some more, please?" asked Jaime as soon as he finished his food. John smacks his brother's left arm while raising both his eyebrows. "Can't a man ask for what he needs?" asked Jaime to John then Elizabeth took Jaime's plate with a smile. "Of course he can, child." said Elizabeth and then she walked towards the kitchen. "She called you 'child'," said Simon to Jaime with a grin on his face while Andrew prevents himself from laughing.

Jaime then smacks Simon's left arm. "Maria, could you please pass the pitcher," said Matthew. And so I grabbed the pitcher in front of Mark then gave it to Matthew. "Thank you," said Matthew. "You know," said Yeshua all of a sudden as we see Akiane walking out the dining area with her drawings. "What Jaime here has done, is one of the things I want to teach again." continued Yeshua with a smile as He looked at each one of us. "Wait, 'again', Teacher?" asked Matthew after he refilled his glass.

Yeshua looked at Matthew, placed His hand on Matthew's left shoulder, and smiled. "You'll soon know, Matthew," answered Yeshua with a smile still. "Yeshua! Look at the figures that I've created with clay!" said Akiane as soon as she came back in the dining area, the same time Elizabeth gave Jaime his plate with food. Yeshua welcomed her back warmly as she placed the figures on the table.

"Maria, do you like some more?" asked Elizabeth as soon as she sat in front of me. I looked at her and shook my head while smiling. "I'm almost full but thank you so much for your offer." I replied to Elizabeth while smiling at her.

Elizabeth smiled back at me then nodded. "What does it feel like, Maria, to be the only girl in the group?" asked Mark while now looking at me and smiling at me. "Oh. Uhm. It's-uh… it's-um… I'm not new to this group. In fact, we're all childhood friends even before we met Yeshua." I answered while stuttering. Meeting and conversing with new people isn't really my thing.

"You don't say!" exclaimed Mark happily. "We're like siblings," said Simon while he's looking at Mark then crosses his arms. Of course. Simon wouldn't be Simon without him crossing his arms.
