As Charlie was about to leave the room, Arno stopped her.
"If it's not an issue, can you tell William to start packing?"
Charlie raised an eyebrow. "Sure. May I ask where you are going?"
"Since you told me what happened last night, and the clothes you showed us, we think it'd be best if we got out of the city for a bit. It's been getting more dangerous, and we don't want William going through that again." Arno sighed and shook his head; the adornments on his horns wiggled from the movement.
Charlie nodded and left the room. She went upstairs and knocked on William's door.
She waited a few seconds and knocked again.
"Open the damn door." She knocked even harder. "GODSDAMN IT, WILLIAM!"
She tried to open the door, but it was locked. She took off her hairpin, unlocked the door by shoving the pin between the door and frame, and opened it.
As the door swung open, she saw the empty room and didn't see Grégoire sitting there. She just frowned and slammed the door.
She stopped and saw the elf-eared butler organizing some books.
"Peter, have you seen William?"
Peter stopped what he was doing and stood up.
"I saw him walking out. He w—"
He blinked and Charlie was gone. His jaw dropped because he'd never seen her do that before.
As Charlie looked for him in the streets, she walked into an alleyway and saw a young couple making out. She gave them a disgusting sneer.
So she got out of it and walked down the main street.
She saw Grégoire chatting with Gogli and walked up to Grégoire.
She grabbed his horn, and he whined.
"Stop it—!" He shook his head so she would get her hand off his horn.
Gogli just looked at them scuffle and noticed who Charlie was.
"Hey. I've seen you before. You're that one lady who called me a slut a while back." She clenched her fists, and her antennas vibrated.
Grégoire stared at her antennas as they did, and Gogli covered them with her hands when she noticed he was staring.
"I don't remember you," Charlie said bluntly, not even angry.
[Author note: maybe SHE got her memory erased as well]
Before Gogli could respond, Charlie pulled Grégoire away.
Gogli mumbled to herself, "What the fuck is going on."
Charlie and Grégoire finally arrived at the manor, and she pushed him into his room.
"Start packing." She left the room.
Grégoire tried to find a bag, but he couldn't. So he grabbed a blanket and put clothes and reluctantly the diary inside. He grabbed a broom and put it in the middle to lift the makeshift bag.
As soon as he got out, Charlie had a suitcase in her hand.
Charlie's eyes widened as she saw Grégoire, and she started to laugh.
"Why?" She handed him the suitcase.
"Oh… thank you." He grabbed the suitcase and went back into the room. He put it on his bed and tried to open it.
After a few minutes, he finally got it. He dismantled the blanket bag, folded his clothes and pushed them into it. He put the diary into it.
He closed it and picked it up, but he forgot to lock it so everything fell out.
A few minutes later he finally got it right. He saw Charlie waiting for him downstairs.
"What took you so long? It's not that hard to put stuff in." She sighed and started walking out.
Grégoire followed behind her and saw a carriage.
As they walked further, he heard a goat bleat. Standing in front of them was a 9-foot-tall goat. Grégoire's eyes widened and he touched its leg and rubbed it.
Charlie looked at him weird, but didn't stop him. She let him keep patting and rubbing the huge goat.
After a while, she made Grégoire sit inside the carriage, and they started heading toward the road.
As Charlie steered the carriage, Grégoire just sat down and looked at the streets through the windows.
As they got out of the city, they started passing through a forest.
"Hey. Where is the mister and missus?" he asked.
"They went before us. Your mother had some business to attend."
"That's good I think. What kind of business?"
"Trains."
