Chapter 87 - Chapter 86: DC?

The excitement for the second half of the showcase was even higher!

Cassius noticed that when a short film played a scene featuring his emotionally complex monologue, a light green attribute orb dropped from Professor Anderson:

[Dialogue Infectiousness +2]

He absorbed it immediately!

[Dialogue Experience +2, Current Experience: Lv2 (396/400)]

Close to leveling up!

As expected, the film that received the highest audience rating was The Insomniac Courier, which featured Cassius's most outstanding cameo performance.

When the score settled at 9.1, the entire hall erupted in enthusiastic applause.

Just as the applause reached its climax, Cassius saw a large number of gray attribute orbs flooding in from the excited students and satisfied professors:

[Audience Resonance +1]

[Performance Recognition +1]

[Character Shaping +1]

...

Interspersed were a few light green ones:

[Emotion Transmission +2]

[Rhythm Control +2]

...

These attribute orbs were like hundreds of rivers returning to the sea, merging into his body one after another.

[Dialogue Experience +3, Current Experience: Lv2 (399/400)]

Just one point left!

Cassius looked around to check if he had missed any unabsorbed attribute orbs!

Sitting not far away, Li Zhe sighed softly.

He had originally intended to piggyback on Cassius's popularity to win an award for the short film he co-starred in with Cassius, thereby gaining some academic honors.

Unfortunately, they didn't win!

In that case, he wouldn't be able to get the guaranteed recommendation for graduate school!

He stared fixedly at Professor Anderson, his eyes full of longing!

In the School of Cinematic Arts, only Professor Anderson had one remaining quota for a graduate recommendation!

The showcase ended.

Cassius was surrounded by fanatical students asking for autographs and photos.

A male student with thick glasses shook his hand excitedly:

"Senior Cass, your monologue in the convenience store was amazing! The rhythm of every word was just right!"

The moment the boy finished this sentence, a bright blue attribute orb dropped from him:

[Dialogue Epiphany +3]

Cassius absorbed it decisively.

[Dialogue Attribute Leveled Up! Current Level: Lv3 (2/600)]

A cooling sensation instantly pierced through his throat and brain.

He felt his control over his voice become more exquisite, and his understanding of the emotions behind lines deepen by another layer.

If Level 2 Dialogue was "knowing how to speak," then Level 3 Dialogue was beginning to touch the realm of "speaking masterfully."

Professor Anderson stood not far away, watching Cassius surrounded by flashing lights and young faces, nodding with gratification.

Lee So-yeon couldn't catch up because she was stopped by a professor to be assigned coursework!

Leaving USC.

Cassius's steps were light.

The breakthrough in dialogue filled him with confidence for the future.

He took out his phone and saw Lee So-yeon spamming social media frantically:

"Daebak! Historic night! Thanks to Cassius oppa! We got the highest score! Fighting!"

Cassius liked her post.

...

The popularity of 2 Broke Girls continued to rise.

Cassius frequently scrolled past funny videos of people imitating his coin spinning and accidentally flicking coins into sewers.

This afternoon, just after finishing exercising with Kristen, Rob called.

Cassius picked up the phone.

On the other end, Rob's voice was filled with excitement:

"Cass, I have huge fucking news! Big fucking deal!"

Cassius was curious. "What is it?"

"DC's Green Lantern project is rebooting! New director, new casting! They want you to audition!"

"Not a supporting role, but the male lead, Hal Jordan, the real Green Lantern!"

Cassius sat up abruptly.

Green Lantern?

Male lead?

Without any preparation, a DC lead role just fell into his lap like this!

This was a superhero of the DC Universe!

A true A-list IP!

Although Cassius wasn't a fanatic Marvel or DC fan in his past life, he had watched plenty of superhero movies!

Superhero!

It possessed a fatal attraction for any actor!

"Are you sure?"

Cassius took a deep breath and confirmed with Rob.

"Ten thousand percent sure!"

Rob was incoherent with excitement. "The producer contacted me directly!"

"They saw your performance in Thor, and more importantly, 2 Broke Girls showed them your comedic sense and likability!"

"They think you can bring something different to Green Lantern, rather than shaping that stereotypical bitter, brooding hero!"

"As long as the audition goes well, the chances are very high!"

Rob was still pouring out his surprise to Cassius non-stop.

Just then!

Cassius suddenly remembered something!

A memory regarding the Green Lantern movie!

In his past life, Green Lantern was a case of much thunder but little rain!

Huge investment, dismal box office!

The movie's reputation plummeted!

A famous Waterloo in superhero movies!

It even became a dark history that the lead actor, Ryan Reynolds, was unwilling to mention for many years!

His reputation didn't turn around until he played Deadpool!

The failure of Green Lantern severely dragged down the opening of the DC Extended Universe.

Terrible script!

Brainless villain!

Awkward CGI!

Filming such a cool concept as space police like a cheap cartoon!

These were the common reviews he had read in his past life.

To go or not to go?

Cassius was conflicted internally!

Ruining several years of his career path for one role!

Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in Cassius's head!

He wasn't Ryan Reynolds!

His mind was currently filled with various critiques of Green Lantern from his past life!

Among them were many suggestions for changes to Green Lantern!

As long as he could become the male lead and possess a certain right to speak, he could at least propose modifications within a certain range.

As for character shaping, he could try to endow Hal Jordan with more layers, rather than being a purely handsome tool!

This project had been shelved multiple times. This reboot meant starting everything from scratch, leaving a lot of room for changes!

A rare opportunity!

Cassius made a judgment quickly!

The risk was huge, but the opportunity was equally huge!

If he could reverse the fate of this work based on his knowledge of its past failure, combined with his own understanding and performance!

Then he would leap to become the first ethnic Chinese actor to carry the banner of a DC superhero!

The prestige and industry status this would bring were incomparable to sitcoms!

"Cass? Are you listening?"

Rob called out anxiously on the other end!

"I'm listening, Rob."

"This is heavy news, but I still need to know some details!"

Cassius's tone returned to calm, not the excitement Rob imagined!

Rob froze; he hadn't expected Cassius to be so calm. "Details? What details?"

"Bro, this is Green Lantern! A DC super project, what details do you need? Just go for it!"

Rob was blinded by hot blood right now!

Who could imagine an agent who just switched careers bringing out a superhero in less than a year!

Once Cassius succeeded in the audition, Rob would become a hot agent in the circle!

"Precisely because it's a top-tier project, we can't rush in blindly!"

Cassius sat up, carefully letting Kristen beside him lie down properly. He put on a jacket and went to the study.

"Are there few big-budget flops these days?"

Rob also slowly began to calm down!

He paused on the other end. "What do you mean?"

"If the script is still that cliché stuff where the audience can guess the next line!"

"If Hal Jordan is just a paper man who only knows how to pose in a tight suit, then we have to weigh this risk!"

Cassius took a sip of water and spoke faintly:

"Rob, you don't want the two of us to become the unlucky bastards nailed to the pillar of superhero shame, do you?"

Rob sucked in a breath of cold air.

"Holy shit, Cass, your words make my back go cold! But you make a fucking point!"

"Those studio executives sometimes really think like their heads were caught in a door!"
