Red stepped around the shattered remains of the pedestal. He approached the obsidian throne and scooped the sleeping ash-silver fox into his arms. Settling into the seat, the spectral Architect rested the hyper-dense anomaly comfortably on his lap.
The creature let out a vibrating purr and curled its thick tail around its body. Red stroked the fine fur behind its oversized ears while shifting his attention back to the primary monitors.
Several unread notifications stacked in the top right corner of the interface. A massive, gold-bordered icon shaped like a fractured hourglass blinked persistently above the rest.
"The fourteen days are up." Red tapped a cloud-formed finger against the glowing symbol. "To be honest, I almost forgot about it."
