Chapter 178 - Chapter 0178 - One Duel Ends the Garden Feud

His second target was the recently joined Duel Academy Student Council. As a newcomer, he quickly got along with the veteran members. Within a week, nearly everyone in the department had suffered his poison, or rather, had built friendship through Duel.

While practicing, he also helped Senior Xinghua handle some minor Duel Academy Student Council affairs.

One issue involved the photography club and the art club both claiming the academy garden on the same day. One side wanted to take photos for an exhibition at the cultural festival next week, while the other had scheduled a sketching session.

The two club presidents argued fiercely and refused to yield.

So gold medal mediator Yugen stepped in with a smile and revealed his Duel Disk. "I have an idea. How about each of you Duel me? Whoever wins gets priority. What do you think?"

Both presidents immediately fell silent.

After a brief Silence, the photography club president spoke first. "On second thought, there is still time before the festival. Maybe you can sketch first. We can come back in a few days."

"No, no, you should go first," the art club president replied politely. "It would be bad to delay your exhibition."

Back and forth they went.

Yugen smiled again. "Simple. I will adjust the plan. Each of you Duel me. Whoever wins, the other side gets priority. Fair?"

Both presidents fell silent again.

They seemed to understand.

He did not care who won their dispute. He just wanted to play cards.

In the end, Yugen got the Duels he wanted, and the conflict was resolved smoothly. He felt both sides were actually reasonable and polite. From now on, if they had further disagreements, they would probably discuss them more calmly.

Soon, a new rumor spread across Duel Academy.

The Duel Academy Student Council had acquired a forbidden weapon.

If you broke rules or refused management, depending on the severity, the Duel Academy Student Council might dispatch "that officer" to enforce compliance.

For a time, clubs felt uneasy. It was as if a shadow hung over the campus.

Later, however, they realized that "that officer" accepted tasks based on mood. He was not interested in everything.

Gradually, a subtle balance formed between Duel Academy Student Council and the students. As long as violations did not go too far, they promised not to immediately deploy him.

Still, anyone who received a warning from Duel Academy Student Council would be wise to behave.

This strange balance became known as the Yellow Deterrence in the latter half of the school year.

For Yugen, going to Duel Academy Student Council was entirely mood based. Extra credits and cards from their inventory were just bonuses. His main goal was practice.

He did not care what the task was. He only checked whether there was a chance to Duel, whether he could create one if not, and whether the opponent was worth playing.

After a few times, Seika Kohinata figured out his selection pattern. She began filtering tasks for him, only presenting those he might find interesting.

For example, today.

"So, Yugen, what about this one?"

Senior Xinghua handed him a brief. "An on site review for a new club application. You could require the applicant president to pass a Duel as part of the review."

Yugen waved it off. "Anything else?"

He had already dueled that applicant before. There was no need for a rematch.

Senior Xinghua sighed and put the file away. For a moment, she was not sure who the real Student Council president was.

After all, his Alchemy Laboratory now had investments from both Kaiba Corporation and Industrial Illusions, and he was highly valued by the academy leadership. There were even rumors that he was unusually close with Seto Kaiba.

As for her, she was just a small Duel Academy Student Council president.

"Hmm? What is this?"

Yugen picked up another report from the corner of his eye.

"Oh, that," she said. "A student reported that late at night, in the forest of Duel Academy, Yugi Muto is wandering around like some strange figure. Supposedly this person is very strong. Even students from Obelisk Blue have been defeated.

"And after each Duel, the person always takes the opponent's Rare Card as humiliation. In serious cases, they might even take the Duel Disk as well."

Yugen was shocked.

Taking Duel Disk and Rare Card?

There was actually someone that despicable?

Inside Duel Academy, in the Classroom Building, two students from Yellow Dormitory, one tall and one short, were walking down the corridor. Just as they reached the middle, hurried footsteps echoed from the stairwell ahead. A group of students from Obelisk Blue rushed over and met them head on.

The students from Obelisk Blue Dorm stopped and frowned. The one in front stepped forward and said coldly, "Students from Yellow Dormitory daring to walk in the middle of the hallway. Do you not know you should step aside for us at a time like this?"

The tall Yellow Dormitory student frowned and seemed about to speak, but the shorter one tugged at his sleeve. "Forget it," he whispered.

The tall student lowered his head and moved aside with his companion, giving up the center of the path.

"Hmph, that is more like it."

After receiving the treatment they believed elites deserved, the Obelisk Blue Dorm students looked even more arrogant. "People from a lower dorm should learn to show proper respect to the Student Council."

They walked past with their heads held high.

The shorter Yellow Dormitory student bit his lip and clenched his fist, resentment flashing in his eyes as he watched them leave. Yet less than a minute later, the same group came running back.

A string of hurried footsteps echoed again as they fled in panic.

"Damn it, we ran into that guy from Yellow Dormitory! We have to take another route!"

"Hurry up! If you fall behind, you will get dragged into a Duel by the Student Council!"

They rushed past the tall and short students without even glancing at them.

The two from Yellow Dormitory stood there in confusion. Just a minute ago these people had acted superior, and now they were running as if they had seen something terrifying. They soon understood when they looked toward the Dead End of the corridor.

Their legend from Yellow Dormitory, that person, had arrived.

Yugen stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Strange. I always heard that the students from Obelisk Blue Dorm look down on everyone and cannot wait to step on us from Yellow Dormitory."

"Why are they all so scared? This does not match the rumors."

Beside him, Daichi Misawa opened his mouth, then closed it again. He clearly knew why they were scared, but decided not to say it.

"By the way, have you heard of the tennis club captain, Ayanokoji?" Daichi Misawa asked. "Rumor says he is strong enough to rival Kaiser Ryo from Obelisk Blue Dorm."

"Just a rumor," Yugen replied casually.

He only had a vague impression. It seemed the guy used a tennis themed Deck focused on effect damage, and even had an anime original rule victory type Card. His Duel felt more like playing tennis than cards.

"I heard that two days ago Judai Yuki had a Duel with that captain and actually won. Someone said they saw Captain Ayanokoji crying by a cliff at sunset for a whole afternoon, shouting that he hated Duel."

Yugen thought for a moment. Had Judai Yuki broken him mentally?

What an unlucky captain.

Only then did they notice the tall and short students still standing in the corridor.

"Daihara and Kohara?" Daichi Misawa recognized them at once and walked over to greet them.
