I shifted slightly, the leather of the sofa creaking under my weight, and smoothly picked up the thread of the conversation as if I hadn't just spent the last minute lost in a daydream.
"Did you actually see the people that attacked the hotel security yesterday?" I asked, breaking the silence.
Clark shook his head. "No, sir. They covered themselves well and the entire attack lasted for barely thirty seconds before they were gone."
I narrowed my eyes. "What about the CCTV? Did the cameras capture the event?"
"Yes, sir," Clark replied, leaning forward with an eagerness that told me he knew exactly what I'd ask next. "The footage is still available. I made sure nothing was overwritten."
"Did you give a copy to the police?"
Clark straightened his back. "No, sir. I told the SMPD that I couldn't release any footage until my boss was present to authorize it personally."
