Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: Advanced Fiendfyre

Time flew by, and it was now early spring in March 1991. The air was filled with the fragrance of blossoming flowers and the nervous tension of students anticipating their upcoming final exams.

With less than a hundred days left until the end of the semester, Ravenclaw's overachievers were all preparing for their final exams as if facing a formidable enemy.

But this hustle and bustle had little to do with Adelaide. With her exceptional talent and unremitting efforts, she had long secured the top spot in her grade. No matter how hard other students competed, at most, they could only vie for a place in the top three.

Whenever she thought of this, Adelaide couldn't help but feel her eyes moisten with emotion.

In her previous life, she had envied those academic gods in school who seemed favored by heaven: they could easily grasp key knowledge points by simply listening in class; they could still rank at the top without attending any tutoring classes during winter and summer breaks; even if they occasionally skipped class to play games at internet cafes, their grades would remain steadily in the accelerated class.

Now, in this life, as a Transmigrator personally chosen by Merlin, she finally experienced the unique joy of being a genius!

Take the Fiendfyre, for example, which struck fear into many older students. This was an advanced spell that only seventh-year Defense Against the Dark Arts N.E.W.T.s students had the opportunity to learn, yet Adelaide had mastered it to perfection in just three short months, even reaching the astonishing level where she could manipulate Fiendfyre at will to cook delicious hotpot!

Not only that, but the hybrid magic beans cultivated in her plantation in Iceland had also begun to show results. This progress delighted Adelaide, making her feel spirited and radiant recently.

However, despite the excellent situation, two factors prevented her from fully relaxing: 1. The Protagonist Cockroach was still alive; 2. Merlin had not summoned her after she successfully eliminated the Ravenclaw Horcrux.

After much deliberation, Adelaide decided that while she wasn't too busy, she should ask her Great-Granduncle to upgrade her strongest trump card, the Fiendfyre, from a red evil flame to a blue gas stove.

The third Sunday in March was a rare sunny day in London. Adelaide, in a joyous mood, cheerfully stepped into Gellert Grindelwald's private ward at St Mungos Hospital.

As soon as she pushed open the door, Adelaide eagerly called out, "Great-Granduncle, we've come to see you~"

However, her enthusiastic call was met only by a slightly displeased hum from the hospital bed.

Adelaide saw Gellert Grindelwald leaning back on the bed, eyes slightly closed, seemingly uninterested in the arrival of Adelaide and Dumbledore, who stood beside her.

Faced with her Great-Granduncle's cold and languid reaction, Adelaide was somewhat taken aback, causing her to instinctively halt her steps towards the bed.

Something was off!

It was one thing if she came alone last time, but today she had brought Dumbledore with her. Given her understanding of her Great-Granduncle's top-tier romantic mind, how could he act so indifferent upon seeing the person he longed for?

The more she thought about it, the more Adelaide felt something was amiss. She quickly turned her head and cast a suspicious and probing gaze at Dumbledore beside her.

To her surprise, Dumbledore showed no hint of astonishment at Gellert Grindelwald's abnormal attitude.

On the contrary, his expression was extremely subtle, and he even subtly shifted his gaze, avoiding Adelaide's sharp scrutiny.

Seeing this, Adelaide instantly understood that these two must have some little secret!

What kind of secret could make her love-struck Great-Granduncle so cold and indifferent, and cause Professor Dumbledore, who was always calm and composed, to show such an unnatural expression?

Countless questions flooded her mind at once, making Adelaide even more curious.

Adelaide deliberately raised her voice, speaking with joy and reverence, "Great-Granduncle, it's been so long! The Christmas plan's success with no casualties was all thanks to your prophecy. It was your guidance that allowed Dumbledore to so smoothly capture the great snake sent by Lord Voldemort!"

In response to this praise, Gellert Grindelwald merely snorted disdainfully.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, speaking with a hint of displeasure and resentment, "Hmph, a hero? I can't bear such a title. But some people, oh, they disappear for a whole month, not even willing to have a proper meal on Christmas; yet when they need someone, they rush back and forth three times or more in a single day—and once they've used the person, they vanish without a trace as if evaporated from the earth!"

Dumbledore, who had been sitting quietly on the worn sofa by the door, also couldn't maintain his usual calm and composed demeanor. He scratched his head a little awkwardly, responding with a hint of guilt, "Oh dear, I'm truly sorry, I've been incredibly busy with many affairs recently... Besides, it's only been two weeks since I last visited you."

"Only two weeks~ I wonder if I'll even live to see another two weeks like that—"

Gellert sighed dramatically, feigning sorrow, his tone revealing a hint of grievance and helplessness.

Dumbledore sternly interrupted his sarcastic remarks, "Gellert, please don't say such inauspicious things!"

Oh, so it was just an old man, deeply in love and longing for more time with Dumbledore, throwing a tantrum because he felt they didn't meet often enough.

Seeing this, Adelaide rolled her eyes and expressionlessly interrupted the old couple's public display of affection.

"Great-Granduncle, I heard that you once created an improved version of the Fiendfyre, which tripled the power of the original flame and wouldn't harm allies—I've just learned the Fiendfyre recently, and I hope you can teach me."

Upon hearing the news that Adelaide had learned the Fiendfyre, Gellert Grindelwald's previously calm face instantly rippled, and his slightly raised eyebrows revealed an undisguised look of surprise.

"I remember you're still a first-year at Hogwarts, aren't you? Are you saying you've already successfully mastered the Fiendfyre in your first year? This is advanced Dark Arts that even at Durmstrang, students only get to learn in their fifth year... I only secretly learned it in my third year."
