After attending the Malfoy Family party, Adelaide finally welcomed a rare period of leisure.
Armandina was reassigned to handle the establishment of the Acolytes Britain branch, while Adelaide spent her time reading, shopping, and having girls' gatherings with her best friends; although such days were ordinary, they were filled with warmth and happiness.
Adelaide did not forget her experimental plans; every midnight, when all was quiet, she would quietly use her ring to teleport herself into the Icelandic Barrier to perfect her experimental field.
Meanwhile, the Weasley Twins were also busy with Adelaide's experimental materials; they took only a short week to help Adelaide get what she needed, making Adelaide marvel at their ability and efficiency.
To express her gratitude, Adelaide generously covered all the expenses for the Weasley Twins' research on Gnomes, allowing them to carry out breeding experiments for the Gnome-ification of Puffskeins without any worries.
Adelaide kept the six Salamanders sent by the Weasley Twins in the fireplace of the small cabin—these magical creatures are born from fire and feed on it; as long as the flame does not go out, they can live on.
If Salamanders that have left the fire are fed chili peppers regularly, they can even survive in an environment without fire for as long as six hours.
Salamander blood has strong healing and recovery functions, which gave Adelaide an interesting idea; she wanted to transplant this powerful healing ability into Flobberworms to increase the survival capability of these boneless caterpillars so that they wouldn't die at the slightest touch.
The Weasley Twins also helped Adelaide get eight Bowtruckles, which she settled into the Forest Area.
The Forest Area had been carefully arranged by Adelaide; she had planted it full of oak saplings and the ginkgo saplings Senior Cho Chang had given her. These trees not only provided a habitat for the Bowtruckles but also provided sufficient food for the Fairies.
To ensure the Bowtruckles had enough food, Adelaide specifically prepared a large sack of Fairy eggs and scattered them evenly in every corner of the Forest Area, expecting them to hatch, mate, and lay eggs.
By around August 20th, the snow in the Water Area had completely melted into water, forming a small lake about two hundred meters in diameter and an average depth of three meters in the deep pit Adelaide had dug earlier.
To make the water in the small lake clearer, Adelaide cast a powerful Purification Spell on the lake. This spell could remove impurities and harmful substances from the water, making the lake water pure and transparent.
Next, Adelaide planted many Moonlight Algae in the water. This algae has a very unique characteristic—it absorbs moonlight and emits a pale yellow fluorescence; more interestingly, if a magical creature eats Moonlight Algae for a long time, it will also emit fluorescence itself.
Adelaide also put the Water Snails and Orbish Fish she had previously captured with the Weasley Twins into the small lake.
The Water Snails swam leisurely in the water, their soft bodies blending perfectly with the surrounding environment as if they had always belonged there; meanwhile, the Orbish Fish ran happily on the ground at the bottom of the water with their two toad legs, their brilliant and colorful scales shimmering with a charming light under the sun.
Adelaide watched this scene with satisfaction, thinking to herself that the Water Snails fed on Moonlight Algae, the Orbish Fish fed on the Water Snails, and the Orbish Fish's waste nourished the Moonlight Algae, thus forming a perfect ecosystem; what made her even happier was that Moonlight Algae reproduced extremely quickly, meaning Adelaide no longer had to worry about the food supply for the Orbish Fish and Water Snails.
After finishing the arrangement of the Water Area and Forest Area, Adelaide began to clear land in the Planting Area and planted the giant lettuce seeds she had obtained.
Adult giant lettuce can grow up to four meters tall, and the large amount of growth hormones in its body can cause magical creatures that feed on it for a long time to break through the limits of their own species and become even larger; giant lettuce is also a Class C Non-Tradeable Good in Britain, and she didn't know how the Weasley Twins had managed to get so many seeds.
Now the number of Flobberworms in Adelaide's room had bred to nearly a hundred. After careful consideration, she decided to leave only five Flobberworms in her room at Dumbledore's Old House to scare off Hermione and Alice, who often barged into her room.
As for the rest of the Flobberworms, Adelaide decided to transfer them all to the carefully planned Breeding Area within the Icelandic Barrier. This Breeding Area was specifically designed after much thought, and she had tightly nailed a circle of the sturdiest solid wood fences around it to form an enclosed space.
To ensure the Flobberworms would not escape this Breeding Area, she also applied some powerful spells around it—for example, a Repelling Charm, which could drive away any creature trying to approach the Breeding Area's fence; and an Alert Charm, which would immediately alert the caster if any abnormal situation occurred, reminding her to take timely measures.
The life cycle of a Flobberworm is very short; calculated from the egg stage, its average lifespan is only about two weeks. This extremely fast iteration speed brought unexpected benefits to Adelaide—it greatly accelerated her selective breeding process.
In the current preparation stage, Adelaide only needed to feed the Flobberworms giant lettuce to let them lay eggs and reproduce, then keep the largest individuals of each generation to continue breeding; at this rate, in just a few months, she would be able to obtain the two-meter-long Flobberworms she desired.
Once these Flobberworms possessed a huge size and a certain degree of self-healing ability, they could be promoted from the original X-grade to XXX-grade, and for Adelaide, only XXX-grade magical creatures were considered to have some practical use.
The crawling speed of Flobberworms is too slow, so Adelaide decided to first wait for the success of the Flobberworm giantification experiment and then immediately start the hybridization experiment with Orbish Fish.
She hoped that through hybridization, the Flobberworms would gain the Orbish Fish's strong frog legs and the ability to breathe underwater; in this way, the Flobberworms' range of activity would be greatly increased and no longer limited to land.
After completing the hybridization experiment with Orbish Fish, Adelaide's plan was to enter the third stage—she intended to plant some poisonous magical plants and find a way to get the Flobberworms tainted with these toxins.
After this series of experiments, Adelaide believed that the Flobberworms' strength would be significantly improved and they would hopefully advance to XXXX-grade.
Once they reached this level, the Flobberworm would no longer be an ordinary magical creature; it could even take on an ordinary Death Eater alone, becoming another trump card for Adelaide alongside the hybrid magic beans.
