Chapter 90 - Chapter 90 I swear in the name of my family

"As expected, murder and arson bring wealth!"

Li Chuan couldn't help but exclaim as he flipped the box over and poured everything out.

"Fatal Dark magic," "Alchemy: The Refining of Cursed Items," "Muggle Dissection Experiment Guide," "Eighteen Deadly Poison Recipes."

He ignored the roughly three hundred Galleons and picked up the magic books that were impossible to buy on the market.

"Oh, this is a diary."

Among the dozen or so magic books, Li Chuan found a somewhat worn diary.

After a quick browse, he found that it was a collection of fragmented records of the Old Wizard's experiences. Although scattered, it gave him some understanding of the Old Wizard.

The Old Wizard's name was Manu Angel. His mother was a Witch, and his father was a Muggle. Because of his father's handsome appearance, his mother, a Witch, fell in love with his father.

However, due to the existence of the Statute of Secrecy, she had to give up her identity as a Witch and marry his father, at the cost of never again picking up her wand.

However, due to an accident, his father learned of his mother's identity as a Witch. Like a normal Muggle, he feared the existence of Witches and, with other Muggles, cruelly tried to burn his mother and the then three-year-Old Manu.

As a Witch, she naturally wouldn't be killed by mere Fire. His mother, heartbroken, took young Manu and escaped the Muggle Village using Apparition.

Because she performed magic in front of Muggles, his mother was imprisoned and eventually died of grief, while young Manu was raised by his uncle and entered Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to study.

The Shadow of his childhood made young Manu extremely hate Muggles and become deeply obsessed with the powerful magic brought by Black magic.

After graduation, he was wanted by the Ministry of Magic for repeatedly killing Muggles for magic experiments, thus beginning a life of wandering and fleeing across the World, and he also became a ruthless Black Wizard.

Over the years, more than a hundred Muggles and a dozen Wizards had died by his hand.

Hearing about Grindelwald's deeds and deeply agreeing with Grindelwald's philosophy, he planned to sell some of the poisons he made in Knockturn Alley and then go to France to join Grindelwald.

He just didn't expect to unexpectedly fall into the hands of Li Chuan, a half-baked Wizard.

There was no way around it; who would have thought that at three in the morning in Knockturn Alley, there would be a sinister person hiding in the wall, launching sneak attacks?

The key was that he wasn't using magic. If Li Chuan had used Expelliarmus, as an experienced Old Wizard, he would have certainly detected it in advance and cast a spell to stop it.

Who could react to a method like forcibly snatching a wand with physical strength? And his grip was so strong that a layer of the Old Wizard's skin was torn off, yet he couldn't hold onto his wand.

After putting the diary, magic books, Galleons, and various sundries into his cloth bag, Li Chuan went downstairs towards the Underground Room.

He wanted to have a good talk with this Old Wizard.

If he were to learn those Black magic and Alchemy spells by himself, he might not master them even by the time he left this World, but with a seasoned Black Wizard guiding him, the speed would be much faster.

"Tom Foley, so it was you!"

In the Underground Room, Old Manu, tightly bound by chains, recognized Li Chuan the moment he saw him.

The owner of the Diagon Alley herb shop, the last Wizard of the Folly family, one of the Twenty-Eight Sacred Families—while Li Chuan's original body wasn't particularly strong, he did have some notoriety.

"It seems you know me!"

Li Chuan showed a somewhat kind smile.

Old Manu looked warily at Bari, the house-elf beside him, and gritted his Kiba, trying his best to suppress his anger as he asked:

"I don't seem to have any grudge with you. Why did you attack me and tie me up here?"

"Hmm, we indeed have no grudge. To be honest, I only attacked you because you happened to meet my conditions. I need a teacher who can teach me Black magic."

"Teacher?"

Old Manu was stunned, momentarily speechless.

After he woke up, he had been thinking if he had offended anyone recently, or if a family member or friend of a Wizard he had killed before wanted revenge.

After all this time, it turned out to be such an unbelievable reason.

You want to find a teacher to teach you Black magic, so you go to Knockturn Alley and tie one up? Is there such a thing?

"Mr. Manu, you will stay here for a period of time. Your task is to answer all my questions about Black magic. Don't think about escaping; Bari will watch you.

If I find any sign of you trying to escape, I will kill you directly and then go to Knockturn Alley and tie another one back.

You must understand, there are many Black Wizards in Knockturn Alley; you are not the only one."

Li Chuan smiled, but the killing intent in his words made Manu, the Black Wizard, tremble twice.

He felt that compared to himself, the other person seemed more like a Black Wizard.

"Then if I answer all your questions, will you let me go?"

Manu knew that in this situation, he had no other choice but to agree, but he also feared that after he became useless, the other party would still kill him.

Li Chuan nodded:

"Don't worry, I swear by the name of the Folly family that as long as you sincerely guide me in learning Black magic and related knowledge, I will let you leave completely and safely."

He wasn't truly Tom Foley, so swearing by the name of the Folly family was just a formality.

Letting a ruthless Black Wizard leave, constantly waiting for him to seek revenge, Li Chuan was not such a naive fool.

Even if he were to truly let Old Manu go, it wouldn't be completely intact; at the very least, he would have to use Obliviate to clear his memory, making him completely forget what happened at Foley Manor.

"Alright, then I agree."

Hearing Li Chuan swear by his family's name, Old Manu agreed without hesitation.

In the Wizarding World, almost everyone knew that if a Wizard, especially a pureblood Wizard, swore by their family, it was almost impossible for them to lie.

Especially since Tom Foley was a member of the Sacred Twenty-Eight Families, it was even less likely for him to joke around with his family's name.

"However, I must warn you, if you don't teach seriously, and I learn slowly, then I will still kill you!"

As Li Chuan spoke, he waved his wand directly at the man in the suit tied to the cross, casting a Cutting Charm that severed his head, causing blood to spray.

The fat man next to the man in the suit and the other few people immediately started wailing in terror.

The Black Wizard, however, was accustomed to such situations. He merely twitched his mouth silently, cursing inwardly:

"Merlin's underwear, if your own learning ability is poor and you can't learn, you'll blame me too!"

While he cursed inwardly, he also understood that the other party's stance was absolutely not a joke. If he dared not teach seriously, he might truly die here.

It wasn't difficult for a Wizard to live past a hundred years. He was only sixty years old and didn't want to die so early.
