Chapter 110 - Chapter 110: Adopting Voldemort (Part 2)

"It was just built not long ago, no wonder I couldn't find it before."

After some searching, Li Chuan finally found the address of Wu's Orphanage. It turned out that this orphanage was only completed on December 5th.

Before, he had been practicing magic at the manor, and he had looked for this orphanage in his spare time, but he had never found any clues.

Mainly, he only remembered it was around November or December, but he couldn't remember the exact birth date due to the long passage of time.

As the second-generation Dark Lord, Voldemort's magical talent is beyond doubt. Taking him under his wing while he is still an infant will be a powerful asset in the future.

Moreover, Voldemort also invented many new spells, the most obvious being flight, which is the only magic that allows a Witch or Wizard to fly in the air without the aid of any magical items.

"Hello, sir, may I help you?"

As soon as Li Chuan walked into the orphanage, a young girl, who looked about eighteen or nineteen and was wearing a uniform, quickly walked over and stopped him.

"Is your Dean, Mrs. Cole, in? I'd like to talk to her about sponsoring your orphanage."

Before coming, he had already found out that this Wu's Orphanage was built by a woman named Cole.

It is said that because her husband and son died in World War I, she took out all her savings to build this orphanage.

"The Dean is taking care of Mrs. Merope. Shall I take you to her now?"

When the young girl heard that he was a kind person who wanted to sponsor the orphanage, she dared not neglect him and quickly led Li Chuan into the house.

Li Chuan's expression froze when he heard the name Merope, because he knew that Voldemort's mother seemed to be named Merope Gaunt.

"Mrs. Merope? Isn't this an orphanage?"

"Oh, that was an accident. On the day of the first snow, the second day after our orphanage was built, Mrs. Merope collapsed at the entrance.

The Dean found Mrs. Merope to be very weak and seemed close to giving birth, so she temporarily took her in to live at the orphanage and began to take care of her."

The young girl explained.

In that case, Voldemort has not been born yet.

Li Chuan's eyes shifted, and he generally had a grasp of the situation.

Soon, led by the young girl, Li Chuan arrived at the room where Mrs. Cole and Merope were.

Inside the room, Merope lay on the bed, with a large belly, her eyes vacant. She would occasionally cough, appearing extremely haggard.

It was the feeling of a broken heart, with no attachment to life.

Mrs. Cole, who was well-traveled, was feeding her porridge while trying to persuade her of something.

"Dean, a gentleman is looking for you."

The young girl stood at the door and whispered inside.

Mrs. Cole turned her head to look at the young girl and Li Chuan, a hint of confusion on her face, but she still put down the porridge in her hand and walked out.

"Sir, you are...?"

"Tom Foley. I heard a new orphanage was built here, so I wanted to donate some Galleons to see if it could help."

Li Chuan said with a smile.

Mrs. Cole's eyes lit up when she heard about the donation.

She had spent almost all her savings building this orphanage and was worrying about the future expenses of adopting orphans when a kind person showed up. This was, of course, the best possible outcome.

"Mr. Foley, let's go to the office and talk slowly."

Half an hour later, after a pleasant conversation, Li Chuan left the orphanage.

As one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, the Folly family has a long history, and their family's savings are not just Galleons. There are many valuable antiques in the manor, similar to those in the Muggle World.

Selling any one of them at an auction could fetch a large amount of Muggle currency. Donating a portion to the orphanage was incredibly simple for Li Chuan.

"Since Voldemort hasn't been born yet, I'll wait a little longer."

Originally, he planned to demonstrate his strength by sponsoring the orphanage and then naturally adopt Voldemort, so the Dean of the orphanage wouldn't object.

Now that Voldemort is still in the womb, there's no need to rush. It's bound to happen sooner or later anyway.

After leaving the orphanage, Li Chuan Apparated directly back to the manor.

His time was then spent teaching Credence magic, and whenever he had free time, he would take Credence to visit Newt.

Because of their previous acquaintance in New York, Newt was completely open with Li Chuan. They discussed magical creatures and exchanged magic, allowing Li Chuan's magical abilities to steadily improve.

His progress was especially significant regarding the Undetectable Extension Charm.

Occasionally, he would also visit the orphanage to check on Merope's condition. Due to his substantial investment, Mrs. Cole always treated Li Chuan as a VIP whenever he visited.

It wasn't until December 31st that Voldemort was finally born at Wu's Orphanage.

When Li Chuan arrived, the birth had already concluded, and Merope had passed away.

"I remember her saying to me, 'I hope he looks like his father.' Then, she told me that the child would be named Tom after his father, and his middle name would be Marvolo, after her own father. She also said the boy's surname was Riddle. Then she said no more and died soon after."

Mrs. Cole, holding the newborn Voldemort, recounted Merope's last words to Li Chuan.

And Li Chuan, looking at the tiny Voldemort, said to Mrs. Cole:

"The little fellow is called Tom, and I am also Tom. Perhaps this is destiny, Mrs. Cole. I wonder if I could adopt him?"

"Oh, that would be wonderful! Although the little fellow has a difficult fate, to be adopted by such a kind person as you, Mr. Foley, he will surely live a very happy life in the future."

Upon hearing that Li Chuan wanted to adopt little Tom, Mrs. Cole agreed without hesitation.

In her eyes, Li Chuan was a very kind-hearted person who not only funded the orphanage but also occasionally visited the orphans there. Crucially, he was also very wealthy.

For an orphan from the orphanage to be adopted by such a person was naturally the best possible outcome.

"You are also a pitiful and tragic person, but rest assured, I will raise your child well."

As he left the orphanage with little Voldemort in his arms, Li Chuan placed a bouquet of flowers on Merope's tombstone.

Merope Gaunt was a pitiable person, abused by her father since childhood, living constantly in fear. Yet she was also very tragic; she fell in love with a wealthy and very handsome Muggle from the local area.

That Muggle did not like her, so she used a love potion to force him to fall in love with her. Until one day, she thought that the Muggle truly loved her and stopped using the love potion.

The truth was that the Muggle did not like her and was terrified of being controlled by Merope, so he resolutely left her.

In fact, this is quite normal. At least Li Chuan felt that the Muggle was a victim from beginning to end, and his reaction was not overly extreme. It was already kind of him not to find other Muggles to burn Merope, the Witch who had forcibly controlled him all along.
