Cherreads

Chapter 101 - 101

Vanessa was surprised that the food at this hotel was so good.

Looking at the beautifully presented dishes, she couldn't help but swallow.

No wonder—she'd been hungry for a while, and her stomach had been protesting.

Butler Lee introduced with a smile:

"Considering your preferences, we've prepared these dishes. If anything doesn't suit your taste, please let me know immediately, and I'll have the chef prepare something else for you."

Ethan nodded in satisfaction:

"No problem, this is perfect."

Butler Lee understood and immediately led the waiter out quietly, not disturbing their meal.

Ethan picked up his fork and said:

"Let's eat!"

But he noticed Vanessa was still staring blankly at the table full of dishes.

Ethan wondered:

"Weren't you just saying you were hungry? Why aren't you eating now?"

Vanessa sighed:

"I've never seen food this beautiful... Each dish looks like a work of art. How much does this meal cost? It's so extravagant I don't even know where to start."

She seemed a little overwhelmed.

Ethan asked:

"What's wrong? As a Ferrari salesperson, you should see rich people often. You should be used to this kind of scene."

"That's different!"

Vanessa shook her head:

"No matter how rich those people are, it's theirs. What does it have to do with me? Even though I work at Ferrari, it doesn't mean I can afford a Ferrari or step into the upper class."

Her tone was sober and pragmatic.

Ethan's heart stirred, adding a bit more appreciation.

No wonder she'd become popular in his previous life—being able to stay clear-headed in flashy situations was rare.

In his previous life, many girls who worked at luxury stores looked down on people of their own social class, always thinking they were superior just because they worked somewhere fancy.

Some even looked down on their own customers.

"It's pointless to think so much."

Ethan smiled slightly and said:

"Don't overthink it. Just eat. It's just a meal. Money is just a bunch of numbers sitting in an account—it only matters when you actually use it."

Ethan was about to start eating, but was stopped by Vanessa:

"Wait! Let me take a picture!"

She excitedly grabbed her phone and took several shots of the beautiful spread and the stunning river view outside the window. After carefully selecting the best ones, she posted them to Instagram, then finally put down her phone with satisfaction and began enjoying this luxurious lunch.

After eating and drinking their fill.

Vanessa lazily sprawled on the sofa, her curvy figure on full display.

Ethan's eyes darkened. He got up and walked over:

"Rested enough? Yesterday your 'driving' skills were a bit rusty. Want to practice again?"

"What!"

Vanessa was so startled her face went pale, and she waved her hands frantically:

"No! If we keep practicing, I'm going to fall apart!"

However.

In the end, she still couldn't resist Ethan's persistence.

She could only continue practicing with difficulty.

....

An hour later.

The "extra practice" ended.

Vanessa covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom to brush her teeth.

After a while.

She came out with her freshly washed Ferrari uniform in hand, still dripping water.

Ethan couldn't help but ask in confusion:

"Why are you washing your work clothes now?"

Vanessa glared at him indignantly:

"It's because of you! You got it all dirty. I have to work tomorrow—I can't not wash it."

Ethan smiled and said:

"Then don't go to work!"

Vanessa raised her eyebrows and asked:

"If I don't work, are you going to support me?"

"I'll support you!"

Vanessa said seriously:

"If I don't work and just get supported by you doing nothing all day, then what's the difference between me and a canary locked in a cage? Only by working and doing something of my own can I feel like I have some sense of 'myself' around you."

She paused, her tone carrying a bit of complicated resentment:

"Besides, isn't this perfect? I won't be stuck to you every day. I'll give you enough private space so you have time to mess around, and I won't have to see it. How great is that?"

These words were both clear-headed but also tinged with helpless self-mockery and open-mindedness.

Ethan didn't refute her. He felt she was right, and he admired this woman—she was very wise.

"Then you can stay here. I'm going back home in a couple days, and I'll come back when school starts."

Vanessa immediately shook her head:

"No, just take me home. If you're not here, living alone in such a big, empty place would feel hollow."

"Alright, then I'll take you back!"

Vanessa immediately brightened when she heard this. She rushed over, held Ethan's face, and kissed him loudly:

"Babe! You're the best!"

After a while.

The two took the exclusive elevator directly down to the underground parking garage.

As the engine roared, the red Ferrari drove out of the basement and headed toward Vanessa's rental apartment in the old part of town.

Twenty minutes later.

The car stopped at a slightly worn street corner.

"Just stop here. I'll walk back from here!"

Vanessa was obviously in a good mood.

Ethan was so rich and so considerate of her, and he'd personally driven her home—it made her happy the whole way.

"Thanks, babe!"

She leaned over and kissed Ethan on the cheek again, ready to get out of the car.

"Wait a second."

Ethan stopped her, took her phone, opened her mobile banking app skillfully, took a look, and quickly tapped a few times on his own phone.

"I transferred some spending money to you. Buy whatever you want—don't hold back."

Ethan handed the phone back to her.

Vanessa looked at the $200,000 newly deposited in her account and said with a smile:

"Aren't you afraid I'll run away with this two hundred grand?"

Ethan asked back with a puzzled expression:

"Your legs are your own. If you really want to run, could I even stop you?"

Then he changed his tone with a bit of joking warning:

"However, if you dare take my money to support some boy toy, I won't let you off easy."

Vanessa was amused by his words and laughed:

"Oh stop! With your ability to wear me out... do you think I'd even have the energy to find another man?"

"Alright, alright! I'm heading back now!"

She gave Ethan a flirtatious look, leaned over to hug him for a while, then reluctantly pushed open the door and got out.

In her heart, Ethan was simply the embodiment of perfection—handsome, loaded, considerate, and gentle with women.

Of course.

The only flaw might be that he wasn't exclusive, but that should count as an advantage on the male side anyway.

But then again, if Ethan was exclusive, this money wouldn't be her turn. With his family background, his future wife would definitely be from a high-society family of equal standing—where would she fit in?

As she turned and walked toward her building, a sly, sweet smile curved at the corner of her mouth, and she muttered silently: "Hmph, just wait... In the future, I'll give you a bunch of kids and make you go broke!"

Ethan was about to start the Ferrari and leave.

Just then.

His phone rang abruptly.

He took out his phone and saw it was an unknown number.

He pressed the answer button: "Hello?"

A very polite, even somewhat respectful male voice came from the other end:

"Hello! Is this Mr. Ethan Miller?"

Ethan's tone was flat:

"That's me. What can I do for you?"

"Hello, Mr. Miller. I'm the president of the West Coast branch of Chase Bank. My name is William. Sorry to disturb you. The thing is, some time ago, you opened a savings account with our bank and deposited an enormous sum of over $400 million USD."

William paused and continued:

"We're very honored by your trust and support! Having you deposit such a substantial amount with our bank is truly a great recognition for us."

"Given that the asset size of your account, Mr. Miller, far exceeds the threshold for our bank's premium private banking services,"

William's voice carried just the right amount of enthusiasm:

"We would very much like to invite you to become our most valued private banking client. I was wondering if you might be available—I'd like to invite you to dinner on behalf of Chase Bank to express our gratitude in person and also introduce you to the exclusive service benefits in detail?"

[some of the bank will give you a private accountant with just 500,000 assets in their bank, it is wild]
