Haru opened his eyes.
Morning light streamed through the window.
Kenji was already awake, sitting on the edge of his bed, watching him with an amused expression.
"You were laughing in your sleep."
Haru blinked. "Was I?"
"Yeah. Weird laugh. Like you'd just figured something out."
Haru thought about the dream.
About everyone together.
About the peace in their eyes.
"I think I did."
Kenji tilted his head. "Figured what out?"
Haru sat up, looking around the room — simple, ordinary, theirs.
"That this — all of this — is enough. More than enough."
Kenji smiled slowly.
"Yeah. It is."
They sat together as the sun rose higher, painting the room in gold.
No violet.
No shadows.
Just light.
Just them.
Just enough.
---
Later that day, they walked through the city together.
Ordinary streets. Ordinary people. Ordinary life.
Kenji stopped at a crosswalk, looking at something across the street.
Haru followed his gaze.
A small cafe. Tables outside. People laughing.
And there, sitting alone at a table, a familiar face.
Dr. Reiko.
She saw them and waved.
Kenji looked at Haru. "Want to say hi?"
Haru thought about it.
About everything that had happened.
About all the pain, all the loss, all the healing.
"Yeah. Why not?"
They crossed the street together.
---
They sat with her for an hour, talking about nothing and everything.
About the facility. About the research. About the new hosts they were helping.
About life.
As they stood to leave, Dr. Reiko said something that stayed with Haru.
"You know, the doctor — Dr. Saito — he used to talk about you. Before the end. He said you were the proof he'd been looking for."
Haru frowned. "Proof of what?"
"That healing is possible. That acceptance is stronger than control." She smiled. "He would have been proud of you."
Haru was quiet for a moment.
Then, softly: "I hope so."
---
They walked home as the sun set.
Kenji bumped his shoulder.
"You okay?"
Haru nodded.
"Yeah. I think I finally am."
They walked in comfortable silence, two boys who had shared a world, now sharing a life.
And somewhere, in the space between memory and hope, a violet sky faded into ordinary blue.
The fractures were healed.
The pain was accepted.
The story was complete.
