They sat on a bench. Maru looked at him with curiosity.
"So... you want to explain what just happened?"
Kenji looked up. "You don't know me?"
Maru shook his head. "I don't think so."
Kenji stared at him. Same face. Same eyes.
"I dreamed about you," he said suddenly.
Maru paused.
"I dreamed about you my whole life. A violet world. Monsters. Battles. And your name was Haru."
Maru was silent for a long time. Then said quietly: "I also dream."
Kenji's eyes widened.
"Strange dreams. About a violet world. About monsters. About a boy named Kenji." Maru looked at him. "When you hugged me... I felt something familiar. Something deep."
Kenji couldn't believe it. "You mean... you dreamed about me?"
Maru nodded slowly. "I dreamed about you. About us. About everything."
They sat in silence.
Then Maru said: "But there's something... I'm forgetting. The dreams fade. Every day I forget more details."
Kenji's heart stopped. "Me too."
Maru raised his eyes. "Maybe this is how it ends. Not with victory. But with forgetting."
Kenji held his hand. "I won't forget you."
Maru's eyes teared up.
"I won't forget you. Even if I forget everything else, I won't forget you."
Maru didn't say anything. But he squeezed Kenji's hand.
In that moment, they didn't know that forgetting had already begun. And time was running out.
